This event would not have been possible without generous support from Tourism Winnipeg, The Winnipeg Foundation, the Government of Manitoba and many local businesses and individuals. The tournament was held at Buhler Recreation Park from July 31to August 2, 2015. Seventy-five teams from across Canada competed in five divisions for over $75,000 in total prize payouts and stunning one-of-a-kind hand carved trophies created by local Indigenous artist Randy Ducharme. In addition to the games, the fans and players enjoyed a Saturday evening social, a variety of free children's activities and some of the wonderful local area attractions that Winnipeg has to offer. The tournament was a resounding success and would not have been possible without the assistance of so many hard-working people. We would especially like to thank Mr. Steve Mymko, the Executive Director of Buhler Recreation Park. Steve and his staff and volunteers were phenomenal to work with. Buhler Recreation Park is a truly excellent facility and we highly recommend it to any group or team looking to host a tournament in Winnipeg. Part of our extracurricular activities was holding a free Aboriginal Cultural Showcase at the Archambault Pavilion in Transcona Centennial Square. This event raised awareness of our organization and featured some of our excellent local Aboriginal talent. Transcona Biz was a great help in organizing the event and promoting it within the community. Chris Belanger and his team were a pleasure to work with and helped us out in many ways throughout the weekend. We would also like to extend special thanks to Mr. Rob Borys, who served as our Umpire in Chief. Rob and his team of umpires and scorekeepers from Softball Manitoba worked tirelessly to ensure the highest level of officiating at the tournament. Their professionalism and dedication is very much appreciated. Hosting the 2015 Canadian Native Fastball Championships was a great experience. Our goal in hosting the 2015 tournament was to make it the best one that the players and fans had ever experienced and we succeeded. The community spirit and enthusiasm for sport in Winnipeg was recognized and celebrated by all involved. Miigwech on behalf of all of us and we look forward to working with everyone in 2019 when the tournament returns to Manitoba!
