Howdy,
Next Wednesday we begin the holy season of Lent.
Calm down, this not a bad time; it is a time to be sure
that we are preparing for the fullness of God’s
Kingdom. Sometimes we slip and or get distracted on
the way, Lent is that time every year when the Church
reminds us to get focused again: focused on the
Kingdom of God, not our own kingdom. Fasting,
prayer, and alms-giving are ways to remind us to be
sure we are growing towards the Kingdom and not in a
different way.
Many people use this special time of year to attend
daily Mass more often. Of course, we will celebrate
the Stations of the Cross, walking with Jesus through
His death and reminding us of His resurrection. All of
Lent leas us to the greatest celebration our Church and
our God gives us: Easter and the Holy Week
celebrations.
Our diocese will give all of you some special help
along the way of Lent. For the women in our parish,
the diocesan Women’s Spirituality Conference is next
Saturday, February 21st. For you men, your
Spirituality Conference is Saturday, March 21st. I can
assure you these are both very meaningful times to
prepare for the coming of our Lord.

Lenten Retreat
Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery
Saturday, February 21st
8:30am—1:00pm
The retreat will be led by Sister Elizabeth Cummins, who uses
the Scripture to help participants focus on Lent and Easter and
the holiness of the season.
The retreat includes pastries and coffee in the morning, lunch
and a Mass for all participants. The cost is just $12. The
monastery is a short 10 minute drive from OLPH. All women
of the parish are welcome to this event, hosted by Our Lady’s
Guild.

Hello from the Principal
Registration for the 2015-2016 school year has started and
you can pick up a registration packet in the parish or school
office. You can also call for a tour of the school and to talk
with the principal at (623) 931-7288. Multiple scholarships
are available and many are open now. Come and register
and we will assist you in applying for the various scholarships.
OLPH Preschool Program has two classrooms, for ages
three and four years of age. We are DES certified and other
scholarships are available.Give your child the gift of a Catholic education. It will prepare them for High School and
beyond...

Mass for Migrants
Friday, February 20th
Join us as we remember our brothers and sisters who
have died crossing the Sonoran Desert. This solemn
occasion begins at 5:00pm with a blessing of memorial crosses at the:
Diocesan Pastoral Center
400 E. Monroe St.—Phoenix, Az.
Followed by a procession to Immaculate Heart of
Mary Church for a 6pm Mass. A panel of experts will
be on hand to discuss immigration, and a
simple Lenten meal will be available.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT
RENEWAL CLASS FOR 2015
Due to the large number of volunteers who need to renew
their training for 2015, we have scheduled a new class on
Saturday, February 21st, 9AM at the school, Room C. All the
ACTIVE parish volunteers who have NOT renewed their training
for 2015, CANNOT CONTINUE SERVING until they do that. If
you have any questions or want to renew your training online before
this class (and do not have a computer, please contact Luz May at

safe environment.

Cálmense, este no es un mal momento; es un tiempo
para asegurarnos de que nos estamos preparando para
la plenitud del Reino de Dios. A veces nos resbalamos y
nos distraemos por el camino, la Cuaresma es el tiempo
que la Iglesia nos recuerda que debemos de estar
centrados: centrados en el Reino de Dios, y no en
nuestro propio reino. El ayuno, la oración, y la limosna

Gift Shop open after all the Masses
Muchas personas utilizan esta época especial del año
para asistir a la misa del dia con mas frecuencia. Por
supuesto, vamos a tener el Via Crucis , caminando con
Jesús a través de su muerte y recordando su
resurrección. La Cuaresma nos lleva a la fiesta mas
grande de nuestra Iglesia. Y nuestro Dios nos da: la
Pascua y las celebraciones de Semana Santa.
Nuestra diócesis dará a todos ustedes un poco de ayuda
especial a lo largo del camino de la Cuaresma. Para las
mujeres de nuestra parroquia, la conferencia de
Espiritualidad para mujeres es el sábado, 21 de febrero.
Para los hombres, la Conferencia de Espiritualidad es el
sábado, 21 de marzo. Les puedo asegurar que estos son
unos momentos muy significativos para prepararse para
la venida del Señor.
