Veteran Classes - For dogs and bitches 7 years of age and under 11 years, or 11 years or older.
At Independent Specialties Neutered dogs and Spayed bitches may compete.
Field Trial Class - For Basenjis that have earned the title of Field Trial Championship in either
AKC or ASFA Field Trials.
The winners of these classes will compete for Best of Breed
BEST OF BREED COMPETITION
AWARDS OF MERIT
At the judge's discretion, after selecting the Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex winners, and
Select Dog and Bitch, the judge may select up to 3 of the dogs entered for Best of Breed to
receive an Award of Merit. These awards are reserved for those quality Basenjis the Judge feels
are worthy of final consideration for Best of Breed
NON-REGULAR CLASSES
(Involving Multiple Dog Entries)
As the judge's decision in the following classes is based on the merits of more than one dog or
bitch, no one of the dogs or bitches judged first in these classes will be eligible to compete for
Best of Breed by virtue of having won in these classes.
The Stud Dog or Brood Bitch must appear in the ring with the get or produce and be
entered in the class. The owner of the Stud Dog or Brood Bitch does not need to be
the owner of the get or produce.
STUD DOG CLASS - For Stud Dogs and two of their get. Get must be entered in one of
the regular classes in this show. The award is based on the merits of the get.
BROOD BITCH CLASS - For Brood Bitches and two of their produce. Produce must be
entered in one of the regular classes at this show. The award is based on the merits of
the produce.

SWEEPSTAKES PRIZE MONEY
The Basenji Fanciers of Greater Phoenix Inc., shall retain 35% of the total receipts to defray
expenses. The remaining 65% will be distributed as follows:
40% to First Place in each class
30% to Second Place in each class
20% to Third Place in each class
10% to Fourth Place in each class
PUPPY SWEEPSTAKES
Entry fee is $18.00. All entries in Sweepstakes must also be entered in a regular class in this
show. Champions of Record are NOT eligible to enter this Sweepstakes. Entries shall be made
at the same time on the same entry form used for the regular class. Indicate "Sweepstakes" and
the appropriate sex and age in the space provided for Additional Classes. HANDLER:
Professional handlers may exhibit only dogs owned by them or members of their immediate
family. A professional handler is defined as any person who receives payment for handling a dog
not owned by them or a member of their immediate family.
This Sweepstakes is open to all Basenjis who, on the day of the show, will be six (6) months and
under eighteen (18) months of age. Sweepstakes classes will be judged prior to the regular
breed classes.
The competition will be divided into eight classes as follows:
Puppy Dogs, 6-9 mos.
Puppy Dogs, 9-12 mos.
Dogs, 12-18 mos
Bred by Exhibitor Dogs.
PUPPY CLASSES
Puppy Bitches, 6-9 mos.
Puppy Bitches, 9-12 mos.
Bitches, 12-18 mos.
Bred by Exhibitor Bitches
VETERAN SWEEPSTAKES
Entry fee is $18.00. Veteran Sweepstakes is open to all Basenjis who are (7) seven years or
older. Spayed or neutered dogs are eligible. Dogs need not be entered in any other class at this
show. Entries shall be made on the same entry form as Regular Classes. Indicate "Veteran
Sweepstakes" and age division in space marked Additional Classes. HANDLER: Professional
handlers may exhibit only dogs owned by them or members of their immediate family. A
professional handler is defined as any person who receives payment for handling a dog not
owned by them or a member of their immediate family.
The competition will be divided into four classes as follows:

Dogs, 7 yrs. and under 11 yrs.

JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP
Novice Junior – For Boys and Girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years old on the
day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Place awards with
competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show.
Novice Intermediate Class – For Boys and Girls who are at least 12 years old and under 15
years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First
Place awards with competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show.
Novice Senior Class – For Boys and Girls who are at least 15 Years old and under 18 years old
on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Place awards
with competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show.
Open Junior Class – For Boys and Girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years old on
the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Place awards with
competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show.
Open Intermediate Class – For Boys and Girls who are at least 13=2 years old on the day of the
show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Place awards with competition
present in a Novice Class at a licensed show.
Open Senior Class – For Boys and girls who are at least 15 years old and under 18 years old on
the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Place awards with
competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show.
Each dog handled in a Junior Showmanship Class must be entered in one of the Breed or
Obedience Classes at the show, or must be entered for Junior Showmanship only. However, a
dog may be substituted. Such substitution must be made on half-hour prior to the judging of any
Junior Showmanship Classes at the show. Each dog must be owned or co-owned by the Junior
Handler or by the Junior Handler’s father, mother, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, grandfather or
grandmother, including step and half relations or by a member of the Junior Handler’s household.
Every dog entered for Junior Showmanship must be eligible to compete in Dog Shows or in
Obedience Trials. BITCHES IN SEASON ARE NOT ELIGIBLE, A dog that has been excused or
disqualified by a Breed Judge or by a Bench Show Committee may still be handled in Junior
Showmanship if eligible to compete in Obedience Trials. A dog that has been rejected,
dismissed, or excused by the Veterinarian for the protection of the other dogs at the show or for
the protection of the dog excused may not be handled in Junior Showmanship.
Junior Handlers who win a third Novice Class with competition present after the closing of entries
for a show may transfer that entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class provided that this
transfer is made by the Superintendent at least one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of any
regular conformation judging or one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship
judging at the show, whichever is earlier.
Winning of first place in an Open Class at this show may qualify or count toward qualification for
entry in certain future limited Junior showmanship Classes. For information on eligibility
requirements for limited Junior Showmanship Classes which have been approved to date by
AKC, go online at www.akc.org.
Junior Handlers must include their AKC Junior Handler identification number on the entry blank.

“Dogs found in an unsafe environment, distress or harm’s way (for example: left unattended on a
grooming table in a noose not attached to a safety release clip; left in a vehicle without proper
ventilation) will be removed to safety. Exposing a dog to an unsafe environment, distress or harm’s
way is considered mistreatment.”
The SHOW-GIVING CLUB, the Show Secretary, their agents, employees, etc. assume no
responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, or to any of their dogs
or property, and further assume no responsibility for injury to children. It is distinctly understood that
every dog at the show is in the care, custody, and control of its owner or handler during the intire time
the dog is on the Show Premises.. the welfare of an exhibitor’s child is the responsibility of the
exhibitor. It is expressly understood that exhibitors will exercise control and restraint over their
children at all times.
MOTELS THAT WILL ACCEPT WELL-BEHAVED DOGS
Owners are responsible for any damage and cleaning up after their dogs. Dogs must not be left
unattended in motel rooms. Some motels may require a pet deposit and have a limit on number of
dogs accepted.

There are two Best Westerns in the area, but they do not accept pets. November is part of our winter
visitor season, so we recommend that you make reservations at least two weeks in advance.
Prospector Park has room for RVs, but overnight parking is not allowed. There is a KOA on
Tomahawk Rd. and Old West Highway. They also have two cabins that are available for pet owners.

Pleasant Acres is a small RV Park that accepts pets. 1930 West Apache Trail, 480-982-0385.
The WalMart on Apache Trail at Delaware Ave. allows RVs.

NOT LATER THAN 6:00 pm. WEDNESDAY, October 19, 2011
After which time no entries may be accepted, canceled, changed, substituted, corrected, or
signed and no entry fees refunded. Telephoned and telegraphed entries are not accepted. All
changes and cancellations must be received in writing prior to closing, except as provided for in
Chapter 11, Section 6 of the AKC Dog Show rules.
THIS SHOW is governed by The American Kennel Club. Exhibitors should read the AKC
agreement on the back side of the entry blank in this Premium List.
ENTRIES NOT ON OFFICIAL AKC ENTRY FORMS and Photocopies of entry Forms without
Agreement and Rules on the reverse side of the official AKC Entry Form are NOT
ACCEPTABLE.
NO ENTRY CAN BE ACCEPTED that specifies any conditions as to its acceptance.
Telegraph or unsigned entries cannot be accepted. Owners are responsible for errors
in
making out entry forms, and no entry fee will be refunded in the event of errors after closing date.
ALL DOGS PRESENT must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being
judged or when in an exercise pen. There is no provision for un-entered dogs at this
show.
THE BASENJI FANCIERS OF GREATER PHOENIX, INC. may decline entries for cause and
may refuse to receive or may remove any dog on account of disease, viciousness or
any other cause. No one shall have any claim or recourse against the Club or any
official thereof.
ENTRY FEES SHALL NOT BE REFUNDED in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified,
excused by Veterinarian or Judge, barred from competition by action of the Bench Show
Committee or because dog is ineligible to compete due to being entered incorrectly. If, because
of riots, civil disturbances, or other acts beyond the control of the management, it is impossible
to open or complete the show, no refund of entry
fee(s) will be made. There is no refund of
entry fee for duplicate entry. There will be a $2.00 fee charged for cancellation of entry prior to
closing.
RETURNED CHECKS do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Show Secretary will add a
$15.00 collection fee to the amount of each returned check.
THE CLUB AND ITS Show Secretary will not be responsible for loss or damage to any dog or the
possessions of any exhibitor, whether the result of accident or other
causes. It is distinctly
understood that every dog at this show is in the care, custody, and control of its owner or handler
during the entire time the dog is on the
Show premises. The welfare of an exhibitor's child is
the responsibility of the exhibitor. It is expressly understood that exhibitors will exercise control
and restraint over their children at all times.
DOGS MAY ARRIVE at any time prior to scheduled time of judging of their class. Dogs not
required for further judging will be excused. Owners or handlers alone are responsible
for the presence of their dogs in the judging ring. There is no rule of this Club or the
AKC that requires a Judge to wait for a dog.
CLASS CASH PRIZES will be paid in the ring to the person showing the dog. Claims for
prize money must be made in the ring before the judging of the breed is over, and the
Show Secretary advised at once.
RECORDING & EVENT FEES: A Recording Fee of 50 cents and $3.00 Event Fee will be
required for each dog entered at any Licensed or Member Club Show, Obedience or
Tracking Trial. These Fees are to be collected by the Show-giving Club and paid to the
American Kennel Club. If a dog is entered in more than one class in the show, these
Fees are to be collected on the first entry only. (AKC Rules, Chapter 11, Section 2.)
TRANSFER OF ENTRY TO BEST OF BREED: Dogs which according to their owner's
records have completed the requirements for a Championship after the closing of
entries but whose Championships are unconfirmed may be transferred from one of the
regular classes to the Best of Breed competition, provided this transfer is made with
the Superintendent at least one-half hour prior to the start of regular conformation
judging at the show.
