NATIONAL DUATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS “Race for the Iloilo River” Date: Sunday, September 18, 2016 Venue: Iloilo City, Philippines The National Duathlon Championships 2016 is a joint project of the Office of the Senate President, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Local Government Unit of Iloilo City. It is for the purpose of strengthening awareness and participation of the public in the ongoing Iloilo River CleanUp Project. . The event will be sanctioned and officiated by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP). This is also a qualifying event for TRAP’s recruitment and development program. Race Distances / Events: Standard Distance (SD) Sprint Relay (SD) Run 1 6.5 km 5 km 6.5 km Bike 40 km 20 km 40 km Run 2 8.5 km 2.5 km 8.5 km RACE RULES: Body marking (race numbers) must appear on both upper arms and both legs. Bikes must be racked at the designated spot of the bike rack in the transition area. Bare torso biking or running is not allowed. Roads will be closed to Vehicular traffic. Athletes must follow all traffic rules and watch out for his/her own road safety No iPods & mp3s may be used by the participants during the race. RACE COURSE DESCRIPTION RUN1 COURSE: BIKE COURSE: STANDARD DISTANCE (SD) - from Transition 1 (T1), exit Joe III Garden then turn RIGHT in the direction of Breakthrough Restaurant, then turn LEFT at Yulo Drive. Stay on Yulo Drive, turn RIGHT at San Jose St., then turn left at Corazon Aquino Avenue (C1). Stay on C1 until Bike U-Turn 1 (10 Km.) before Vice President Fernando Lopez Avenue (Pavia Intersection). After Bike U-Turn 1, ride until Bike U-Turn 2 (5 Km. from Bike U-Turn 1) & back to U-Turn 1– do this loop 3 times for Standard Distance. On the last loop, proceed to Transition 2 (T2) @ the corner of C1 & Vice President Fernando Lopez Avenue (Pavia Intersection). 1 SPRINT DISTANCE - from Transition (T1), exit Joe III Garden then turn RIGHT in the direction of Breakthrough Restaurant, then turn LEFT at Yulo Drive, stay on Yulo Drive, turn RIGHT at San Jose St., then turn left at Corazon Aquino Avenue (C1) stay on Corazon Aquino Avenue (C1) until Bike U-Turn 1 (10 Km.) before Vice President Fernando Lopez Avenue (Pavia Intersection). After Bike U-Turn 1, ride until Bike U-Turn 2 (5 Km. from Bike U-Turn 1) & back to U-Turn 1– do this loop 1 time for Sprint. On the last loop, proceed to Transition 2 (T2) @ the corner of C1 & Vice President Fernando Lopez Avenue (Pavia Intersection). Follow the instructions of the Marshals (e.g. Slow Down, Dismount). RUN ROUTE: STANDARD DISTANCE (SD) - from Transition 2, turn right using Benigno Aquino Avenue going to Esplanade, Run until Run U-Turn 1 and head back to Run U-Turn 2 (2 km. from Run U-Turn 1), after the 2nd Run U-turn, run to Finish. SPRINT DISTANCE - from Transition 2, turn right using Benigno Aquino Avenue going to Esplanade, Run to Finish. RACE CATEGORIES: SD- Top 3 Men & Women (open Elite/National Team) SD Age Group: - Men: 18-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50 & above - Women: 18-29; 30-39; 40 & above Sprint- Top 3 Men & Women: 16-19; 20 & above SD Relay- Top 3 Teams. Teams can be composed of 2 or 3 athletes, any gender. AWARDS & PRIZES: Men & Women (Standard Distance) 1st Place – P10,000.00, 2nd Place – P6,000.00 & 3rd Place – P4,000.00 Medals and product prizes T-shirt and refreshments and snacks for all participants Medals for individual winners for above mentioned categories Team Competition- Individual Medals for 5 members of the Top 3 Teams Awarding: The Awarding Ceremonies will be held at 11:00 am on September 18, 2016 at the lloilo Esplanade.
