“I Am Troubled Now”

How many times have we been troubled or preoccupied to find the best solution to a seemingly bad situation? Naturally we struggle to come up with the best result, reflecting on all possible outcomes, and minimizing the impact it may have on others. I can recall a day just like this when my eldest brother was on a construction site, with a wheel barrel in hand, a nearby crane hit an electrical line, causing the electrical line to swing, directly hitting the wheel barrel, and causing electricity to enter through my brother’s hands and exiting his feet.
The doctors told him that he survived because of his size, being over 6’ 4”; other wise he would have died. Yet,
he needed to rethink as the principal breadwinner, how would he support his family of 7? They were many sacrifices and many adjustments that were made, however, through it all, he kept his eyes on the cross, asking for
God’s help each step of the way.
In today’s Gospel, we also hear Jesus say, “I am troubled now.” Faced with the inevitable of losing his
life. Sometimes we think because he was God’s Son, that he would be exempt from such mental anguish and
pain that accompany having to face such an undesirable, horrible death. Yet, Jesus is troubled as the gospel
writer tells us. Like my brother, he had to come to terms of what lies ahead. Jesus never waivers, but refocuses
on the fruits of his sacrifice, for our salvation and by doing God’s will, he comes into eternal glory.
Aren’t we called to do the same? By losing our lives in service to others, there is much to gain. The joy
of service, the love that radiates from serving others, and the internal gratification, that we are pleasing God, only makes our relationship stronger than ever, and closer to our Lord. Now is our time to rethink our strategy in
following Jesus on our journey to Mount Calvary? Are we embracing the cross that will bring us closed to our
salvation?

¿Cuántas veces hemos sentido inquietud o preocupación para encontrar la mejor solución a una situación aparentemente mala ? Naturalmente nos esforzamos para llegar a los mejores resultados, reflexionando sobre los posibles resultados, para que el impacto que pueda tener sobre los demás sea mínimo. Recuerdo que un
día como este, mi hermano mayor estaba en una obra de construcción, con una carretilla de hierro en sus manos, una grúa cercana accidentalmente tumbo una línea eléctrica, provocando que la línea eléctrica fluctuara golpeando directamente la carretilla que traía mi hermano, y causando que la electricidad entrara a través de las manos de mi hermano y saliera por sus pies. Los médicos le dijeron que sobrevivió gracias a su tamaño, siendo más
de 6 '4 "; de otra forma se hubiera muerto. A causa de este accidente, el tuvo que recapacitar y pensar en su familia, pues el es principal sostén ¿Pensando, cómo iba a mantener a su familia de siete? fueron muchos sacrificios y ajustes que se tuvieron que hacer, sin embargo, y a pesar de todo, el siempre mantuvo la fe y sus ojos
puestos en la cruz, pidiendo la ayuda de Dios a cada paso del camino.
En el evangelio de hoy también, escuchamos a Jesús decir, "me preocupa ahora." Ante lo inevitable de
perder la vida. A veces pensamos que porque él era el Hijo de Dios, El iba a ser excluido de esa angustia mental
y el dolor que acompañan tener que enfrentarse a una muerte horrible, e indeseable. Sin embargo, Jesús se enturbió como el escritor del evangelio nos dice. Al igual que mi hermano, que tenía que llegar a un acuerdo por lo
que se avecinaba. Jesús nunca renuncio, pero vuelve a enfocarse en los frutos de su sacrificio, por nuestra salvación y para hacer la voluntad de Dios, El Jesús entra en la gloria eterna.
