Welcome to
ST. MARGARET MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH
Twenty-third Sunday in
Ordinary Time/Vigésimo Tercer
Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
September 7, 2014
Teaching Moment:
What is an “Ambo”?
The lectern from which the Scriptures are
proclaimed and then explained through the
homily. Through its design the ambo speaks of
the dignity and importance of the Word of
God. A second ambo in the church may be
used for song leading, announcements and
comments; this second ambo is in a minor
position through design and location in
comparison to the scripture ambo. The terms
ambo and lectern are used synonymously.

Mission Statement
We, the people of Saint Margaret Mary Parish in Chino,

communities that join together on our journey towards the
fulfillment of Christ’s Kingdom. It is a parish goal to provide
the sacraments to the life of our community, with the source

A Note from the Administrator...
Nancy A. Keegan
I have worked here at St. Margret Mary since August 1, 1990. I
started as a volunteer catechist and was also involved in the music
and pro-life ministries. My first official position was as the
Religious Education Office Secretary. I held that position for three
years. When the Director resigned, Fr. Tom Gillespie asked me to
take over as coordinator. While working as coordinator I attended a
two year leadership course through our Diocese and obtained a
Master Catechist Certificate. Approximately fifteen years ago Fr.
Michael Sturn asked if I would take over the Rite of Christ Initiation
of Adults and since I am a convert to the Catholic Faith myself I was
thrilled.
In the RCIA each year I get to journey with a group of people that
are coming to the Catholic Church for the first time or returning after
a long time away. This journey renews and strengthens my own faith continually. I enjoy working
with the families of our parish, helping them to prepare for receiving the sacraments. Probably the best
part of my job is working with the wonderful volunteer catechists and the dedicated and loving staff.
The most difficult aspect of my job would be discipline of the children. It is necessary but I don’t
particularly enjoy it.
The hope I have for the Community of St. Margaret Mary is that they continue to love and serve Jesus
as best they can, and I want them to have a sense of belonging and ownership and to realize that they
are the Church.

A Note from the Administrator...
Nancy A. Keegan
Me gusta

priceless. You are our greatest resource. In
addition we have our Youth Ministry Wish List.

Spaghetti Dinner
St. Margaret Mary Women’s Fellowship invites all
adult women to join us for this fall’s bible
study Praying with Confidence by David Egner.
Having conversation with God through prayer is an
important aspect of developing and maintaining our
relationship with Him. In this study, author David
Egner explores disappointment associated with unanswered prayer and offers practical steps to help us reconnect and strengthen our line of communication with
God. Join us, as together we gain a better understanding of how to approach God, to speak honestly from
our hearts, and wait patiently for Him to meet our
needs.
Registration will take place after all Masses,
September 6 & 7th. We will begin 6:30 pm,
Thursday, September 18 in the McGinn-Johnson
Parish hall. You do not need to be a member of St.
