November p2 School Funding and Planning Update p3 Social & Event Updates INSIDE THIS ISSUE: p4 Teacher Appreciation p5 p6 p7 2013 Other News School & PTO Info 2013-2014 Calendar The Latest News and Information about Trebein Elementary School TREBEIN PTO MONTHLY From the President Chrisonna Anderson-Lutz From the Principal Mrs. Lisa Walk Dear PTO Members, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our volunteers. We are not able to create a successful PTO without you! The Fall Harvest Festival was a huge success and it was our volunteers who made it so. Everyone who came had a great time playing games, eating popcorn, watching the dancers, going on hayrides, and picking out mums and pumpkins. We had fabulous items that were collected from the community by one of our remarkable volunteers and raffled off at the event. Congratulations to all our raffle winners! We also completed our first book fair and had volunteers there every day working with the children. They helped fill out wish lists, make book selections, and locate books for purchase. We have our Holiday Shoppe and Bazaar coming up on November 23rd and will need a lot of volunteers in order to make that event a success. Please consider donating your time that day to help us make it a magical experience for our children and a fun time for our parents and staff. Dear Parents, On Wednesday, October 23, we received a letter from the IRS approving our application for tax exempt status for the Trebein PTO! We applied for this status in April and are excited that our approval has finally come through. We will now have a few more opportunities to raise funds for our children’s school. Since we were waiting for this to get our Krogers rewards, we immediately filled out the Kroger application and on the 24th we were approved, see information in the Rewards report on how to sign up for this and look for new, exciting Family Night Out opportunities. As you take time to meet with teachers for conferences over the next week, please know that if I could meet with each of you individually, I would thank you for all that you do from home. Your children show up for school rested, fed, clean, and ready to learn. They are polite and helpful to one another. We understand that nobody is perfect. But, it is clear that these students are certainly trying their very best and doing a lovely job! Without your help, Trebein could not be the wonderful school it is. Thank you for your support of the Trebein PTO! We appreciate all the hours spent, hard work, creative ideas, generous donations, fundraising help, and enthusiastic encouragement! Please join us at our next PTO meeting on Tuesday, November 19th, at 7:00pm where we will continue to make plans to provide financial and social support to the children of Trebein Elementary. Sincerely, Chrisonna Anderson-Lutz, Trebein PTO President It is hard to believe that we have finished the first quarter of school already! Students and staff members have worked very hard to establish a school that is positive, safe, and maintains high expectations for learning. It is easy to feel the enthusiasm as you walk through the halls at Trebein. After spending years on facility committees to finally reach the point where this building is up and running is definitely a dream come true for me. The school itself is beautiful, but even more importantly the feelings of pride that flow from everyone who spends their days here are a lovely testament to the kind of school Trebein has become. Sincerely, EST. 2013 Lisa Walk, Principal 1 Market Day To date has earned Fundraising over $435, for list of dates, see calendar on Update: page 7. Join our Facebook Group – Military Families o f B e a v e r c r e e k . It’s an informal support group for military families (Active, Guard or Reserve) with school-aged kids (or soon to be) who live in the Beavercreek area. Our goal is to support and connect with each other and our children. This is a place to ask questions about schools, connect our military kids, and help navigate our way through this assignment. Military children are unique. From the many moves they've endured, stress of deployments to the educational imbalances of multiple school districts military children have different stressors than many of their peers. This group is great way to find support for yourself and your kids. We post information about Beavercreek City Schools, WPAFB youth information, research and articles on parenting military children and information on education. Find us on Facebook – Mi l it a ry Families of Beavercreek! Fall Harvest Report The Fall Harvest Festival was a success!
