We had a sneak preview of the Dance Party as the students exited the gym to the Nae-Nae song. “Read Every Day Together Leads to a Better Life”. Reading aloud increases vocabulary, communication skills and helps children become better readers, better listeners, and be more imaginative…continue reading Lake Street families. Parent/teacher conferences are fast approaching. We will use www.signupgenuis.com as our electronic tool for scheduling these conferences. Your classroom teachers will let you know when to sign up. Be looking for information in their weekly emails or newsletters. Conferences will be held Wednesday, October 28 th and Thursday, October 29th. Our Lake Street Homecoming parade walkers had a great time last Friday night throwing out candy and walking with their teachers and classmates. We all had a great time sharing in the high school’s special night! We have great community pride in our town…we LOVE CP, Mrs. Cindy Wise, grateful principal One of the first tools we are working on with our students is the understanding of the power of bystanders. Bystanders are children who see bullying behavior happen but do nothing about it. Bystanders make up the largest population in schools. Bystanders have the power to reduce bullying in schools by speaking up. Our goal here at Lake Street is: To speak up when we see bullying behavior Choose not to participate in teasing activities Forgive others for making poor choices Model kind behavior Accept others for their differences Include others in group activities Talk to an adult when there is a problem we cannot manage on our own Remember - wear blue on Tuesdays! We at Lake Street believe if we build on our foundation of promoting kindness and give our children the necessary tools for action, we can reduce if not eliminate bullying behaviors.
