a slightly staid image. And
that makes its present revitalisation
all the more dramatic.

n Boston ist Geschichte überall greifbar.
Sogar Strassen mit Kopfsteinpflaster gibt
es noch. Die Stadt wurde 1630 von englischen Puritanern gegründet und ist die Wiege der amerikanischen Revolution. Gleichzeitig ist sie aber auch ein globaler Leader in
Innovation, Bildung, Kunst und Unternehmertum. So wurde in Boston die erste Eisenbahn der USA gegründet. Und sogar der Computer wurde hier erfunden. Mit Harvard und
dem MIT hat Boston zwei der besten Hochschulen der Welt. Dutzende anderer Universitäten sind in und um Boston zu Hause. Sie
alle sind Inkubatoren für ökonomische Dynamik und technologische Entwicklung.
Erfolgreich, aber auch strebermässig langweilig: Diese Zeiten sind in Boston vorbei. Neben altehrwürdiger Tradition und intellektuellem Spirit hat sich eine vorwärtsschauende,
kreative Energie entwickelt. Boston glänzt
nun auch mit Kunst, Kultur, innovativem
Design sowie interessanten neuen Restaurant- und Shopkonzepten.

oston is a place where history is all around.
It’s even kept some of its cobbled streets.
The city was founded by English Puritans
in 1630, and was the cradle of the American Re­
volution. It has retained its leadership creden­
tials, too, in areas such as innovation, education,
art and entrepreneurial flair. It was in Boston
that the first railroad in the USA was founded; it
was the birthplace of the computer; in Harvard
and the MIT it has two of the world’s finest uni­
versities; and dozens more educational estab­
lishments are located in and around the city,
providing their own breeding grounds for devel­
opment and drive.
Boston today, though, has added a third (and
perhaps the most exciting) credential to go with
its historical traditions and its academic excel­
lence: a creative energy that is focused clearly on
the times ahead. Because the Boston of today
also offers superb art, culture and design, along
with some intriguing new shop and restaurant
concepts.
