Celebration of Compassion
On October 6th, the LCHS Advisory Council hosted a
“Celebration of Compassion” event at the Barn at the
Old Willis Dairy on Centerville Road. More than 250
of LCHS’ Business Sponsors and Patrons were recognized during this special appreciation reception and
honored for helping to make the work of LCHS
possible year-round. The private reception featured
group tours of the original homestead by Frank &
Peper Willis, a book signing by author and travel
Tracey Van Hook and Frank & Peper Willis
writer, Ginger Warder of her book – “Fido’s Florida”,
Animal Ambassadors, the Bluegrass sounds of Blue & Lonesome and fabulous southern
food by many local restaurants and shops. The evening was made possible by event
sponsors, our Advisory Council Committee & volunteers as well as businesses and individuals who donated services and merchandise for a fun, casual get-together for local pet
lovers. Many thanks to Fur by Robin Adams Photography for the beautiful event photos.

A Fantastic Dog Wash Season
This was another incredible year for our famous
“Dog Wash Season” held
April through September.
Hundreds of dedicated
LCHS volunteers, returning customers & their pets
as well as many new
LCHS Volunteer Michelle Stewart
clients enjoyed pet pampering activities! More than 800 dogs were scrubbed clean
and dry and with our expanded nail trimming services
many received pedicures by experienced volunteer vet
techs. Our Dog Washes have been a tradition in Tallahassee
for more than 20 years & help to raise much needed
monies for our Animal Medical Care Fund. Special thanks
to Liz Maryanski who volunteers as the Dog Wash Diva,
her husband Bob and the Ellis Family for great event
photography, local restaurants for providing delicious
lunches for the volunteers, Patient’s First, TCC, STAR 98.9
and Novey Animal Clinic who help promote the washes
and our awesome volunteers who are willing to get wet
and dirty to clean the dawgs!
