Rights Respecting School
Article 14
Children have the right to think and believe what they want and to practise their religion,
as long as they are not stopping other people from enjoying their rights. Governments
must respect the rights of parents to give their children guidance about this right.
My sincere thanks to our pupils and to all school staff for the care and sensitivity shown to each
other since Thursday. In time we will look to pay our collective respects to Mr Gordon both in and
out of school and start the healing process of coming to terms with his loss.
On behalf of staff and pupils can I also thank parents, former staff and pupils and colleagues from
our associated primaries and South Lanarkshire secondary schools for their messages of
condolence and support at this sad time. Your words of sympathy have been of great comfort to us
over the last few trying days and I have communicated these to the Gordon family to offer them
some solace at this painfully sad time.
Any member of our school community requiring extra support at this time in coming to terms with
our loss knows to contact our Pupil Support team.
