Dear Friends,
Our parish festival is the largest and strongest community building event of the year, and
it’s our favorite! I really enjoyed the festival last year after my return. There were many
new activities, like the Kentucky Derby party, expanded rides and so much more. One of
the festival’s largest attractions is the auction. I am amazed to see it grow and get better
every year.
This year’s auction is better than ever. There many fantastic items up for bid. The
auction committee and their volunteers have been working for months to obtain items
that will be of great interest to all. Our silent auction is on Friday night, May 4, in the
gym. You can find many new and exciting items for bid. Saturday night, May 5, will be
our live auction with unbelievable trips, a playhouse, a wonderful dinner at the rectory,
and much more. Join us for both auctions.
I want to thank all our auction supporters, those who made items, those who donated
items, those who sponsor the event, and all who will bid on our many items. The
proceeds of the auction will go towards our debt reduction. Each year the festival grows
larger and is better than the previous year’s festival. Let’s make the 2012 St. Thomas
More Parish Festival the best yet!
In Christ,
Rev. Tom P. Duhé
Pastor

auctions. Each bidder is financially responsible for the use of their bid number.
2. You must be at least 21 years or older to bid on an item.
3. All Sales Are Final! No exchanges or refunds on auction items are permitted except when
specified by the donor. Everything will be sold “AS IS”. Please read specifications and/or
restrictions carefully.
4. By purchasing any auction item, the buyer waives any claims for liability against either St. Thomas
More Catholic Church or the donor of the item or service. Neither the church nor the donor is
responsible for any personal injury or damage to property that many result from the use of the item
or service sold.

payment. Payment in full is required before items can be picked up.
6. All items must be paid for and removed from the premises by the close of the evening. Items

Silent Auction Rules
1. The Silent Auction, located in the gym, opens for bidding at 5:00 pm. Closing will take place on
Friday, May 4th at the following intervals:
9:00 pm – Around the House and Lagniappe
9:15 pm – Décor and Kids’ Corner

2. Bid sheets for each auction item are located in front of the item.
Initial Bid: All silent item bids will start at zero. The second bid should equal the
incremental increase noted on the bid sheet. For example, if an items increment is $5 the
initial bid will be zero and the second bid will be five dollars.
Incremental Raises: The amount of the incremental raises will be stated on the bid
sheet. When raising a bid, the bidder must write their personal number on the bid sheet
on the line that is directly below the preceding bid.
Bids will be disqualified if they:
 Are not increased by the amount stated on the form
 Include cents
 Are written illegibly
3. Each bid must be recorded promptly. After it is recorded, the bidder must step back so that other
bidders have free and easy access to the bid sheet.
4. Each auction item is described in your catalog except those items donated after April 5 th, 2012.
Items received after April 5, 2012 will be included in an addendum to the auction catalog.
5. To place a “Guarantee” bid on an item, write your bid number on the “Guarantee” line on the
bottom of the bid sheet. This will out bid any bid that might be placed on the item. There will be
a “Guarantee” station at the registration table for those bidders who really want to buy it
immediately and take it home.
6. After a “Guarantee” bid has been placed, a row monitor will pick up the bid sheet and item and take
it to the registration table.
7. The silent auction officials will settle all disputes.
8. Upon closing a category at the silent auction, auction workers will pick up all bid sheets for that
category. Winning bid numbers will be posted on the BACK DOOR of the KINDERGARTEN
BUILDING and at the registration table as the categories close.
9. At the close of the silent auction, all winning bids will be posted on the BACK WALL of the

Signed Heisman Golf Shirt
Own a piece of history! LSU hasn't had a Heisman trophy winner since 1959 but in 2011, Tyrann Mathieu, aka the
Honey Badger, was a contender. This is a men's golf shirt featuring the Heisman logo on the front and the
signatures of the five 2011 Heisman hopefuls on the back. These include running back Trent Richardson of the
Alabama Crimson Tide, running back Montee Ball of the Wisconsin Badgers, cornerback Tyrann Mathieu of the LSU
Tigers, Andrew Luck of the Stanford University Cardinals and quarterback Robert Griffin III of the Baylor Bears. The
shirt is encased in a clear acrylic box so that the shirt can be seen from both sides. Although Mathieu didn't win
and RG3 did, it's still quite a find.

Festival Auction Volunteers
We could not hold this auction without the hard work of the many volunteers who give their time: setting
up, working the silent auction, live auction, Fork Pull, Happy Hour Toss, Unlock the Box, bartenders,
check out and carry out. They offer to “help” and we put them to work! It might not be exactly what they
had in mind but they do it with a smile. The catalog printing deadline makes it impossible for us to list all of
them here. You know who you are and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Festival Auction 2013, Save the Date
Save the date! Festival Auction 2013 will be May 3, 4 & 5, 2013
Festival Auction 2013 Opportunities
We are looking to increase our volunteer base for next year’s Festival Auction. There are lots of
opportunities to assist without leaving the comfort of your home. You can participate according to your
schedule. Many jobs are finished before the Festival even begins. Think about it! We’d love for you to join
us. Email [email protected] for more information.
