There were 4 presentations in the District of
Columbia, 15 in Maryland and 12 in Virginia!

NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo: WRTC’s largest
indoor event of the year with 25K attendance.

WRTC has been a Donate Life America Rose Parade Float
partner for 10 years! This year we honored Evin Shoap,
WRTC volunteer, heart recipient and cornea donor. His
mother, Carla, and WRTC’s Lisa Colaianni (and living
kidney donor) participated by placing roses in the float’s
memorial garden.
STATISTICS:
 35 million U.S. TV viewers;
750,000 spectators
 Broadcasters had on air call
to action to register on ABC,
Univision, HGTV, Travel
Channel, KTLA
 700+ media stories nationwide aired and published in
43 states and DC, with a
number of outlets reaching

community; 2 at local hospitals; 3 at houses of

Where was WRTC July-September?
In Maryland, there were 9 presentations and
13 donor drives. In the District of Columbia,
there was 1 presentation and 6 donor drives.
In Virginia, there were 7 presentations and
3 donor drives.

Highlights:
 The annual Festival for Life (see cover page)
continues to grow. This year there were an
estimated 7,000 to 10,000 people in attendance
and more than 100 onsite donor registrations.
 WRTC’s Team Donate Life participated in the
Susco 8K Run, 2K Walk, including 12 staff, 19 staff
family and friends, and 5 Friends for Life
volunteer ambassadors.

WRTC is proud to announce that Peta Cappello is
WRTC’s 2013 Volunteer of the Year! Peta is
celebrating her 20th year as a heart and double
lung recipient and has been an active Donate
Life Ambassador since October of 2012. WRTC is
grateful to Peta and her husband, Mike, for
being such passionate and devoted volunteers.
