Great Eats
From classy dining
to casual settings,
here are a few favorite
Malibu spots to grab a
bite.
Writer Kim Devore
loves the family vibe at
Guido’s. This casual
Italian restaurant has
countless entrée options
and a friendly atmosphere
where making a new pal
is simple. “Its our version
of ‘Cheers’” Devore said.
“You’re here, you’re family.
Everyone from local
A-Listers to horse trainers
mingle and chill.”

If you’re looking for a slice
of the best gnocchi in town,
photographer Michelle
Hood said to look no
further than Giovanni’s.
“The four cheese gnocchi
rules!” she declared.
Excelling in old school
Italian, the casual eatery
is also famous for its killer
pizza.

“Okay, I know Malibu has
memorable restaurants,”
writer Melonie Magruder
said, “but my favorite ‘Bu
meal is still a caprese
vegetarian sandwich from
John’s Garden in Cross
Creek, a bag of Sea Salt
Kettle Chips and a Fat
Tire beer after hiking up to
Escondido Falls.”
3835 Cross Creek Rd.; 310.456.8377
Located on a stretch of
Westward Beach, The
Sunset Restaurant
with an ocean view and
continental cuisine with
Pacific Rim influences
makes this secluded
casual, yet high-end
restaurant photographer
Devon Meyers’ favorite
Malibu dining spot. The
ocean view and array of
fine dining makes it the
perfect, intimate date
location.
6800 Westward Beach Rd.;

If you’re looking for a
quick, casual place to grub,
contributor MacKenzie
Ring suggests Neptune’s
Net. Located at the far
western end of Malibu off
Pacific Coast Highway,
“It’s a great place to grab
a quality bite to eat with
friends after a day at the
beach,” Ring said. She
suggests you try their
shrimp cocktail. "It’s one
of a kind!”
42505 PCH; 310.457.3095
Editor Laura Tate
suggests you head on
over to the historic and
newly renovated Malibu
Inn for cocktails, a round
of pool and to indulge in
the vintage rock ‘n’ roll
mood (with live music on
weekends) and epic food.
For finer, rustic and unique
dining, Saddle Peak
Lodge in Malibu Canyon
will satisfy any meat lover.
Game is on the menu, as
well as a variety of fish
and vegetarian dishes and
unique salads by Chef
Christopher Kufek. For
sublime Italian, Tra di Noi
at the Malibu Country Mart
hits the spot for Tate. "It’s
a fun place to have a glass
of wine and people watch
from the outdoor patio
area."

Assistant Editor Leslie
Wade’s weekly hang
where she is often spotted
with Editor Laura Tate is
Duke’s Malibu. Wade said
she “loves the view and the
service,” as well as “the
Cajun battered fish tacos
with a lava flow and/or
bartender Patrick’s special
cocktail.” Another great
spot is Charlie’s, where
the tastiest Wild Mushroom
Pizza with goat cheese
and truffle oil can be had,
as well as a plethora of
other mouthwatering
dishes. To satisfy her
sweet tooth, Wade visits
ChocolateBox Café,
which serves gourmet
chocolate, Italian gelato
and specialty drinks along
with divine sandwiches
and salads. Duke’s Malibu:

For the beautiful

activities, Malibu is the
ultimate playground.
Here’s a look at our
favorite hang spots.
Fine wine at the Malibu
Family Wines Tasting
Garden, is Magruder’s
best bet. This cozy, chic
destination will even have
tourists feeling like a
Malibu local. “The Tasting
Garden has live music that

tasting a couple of flights
of the Semler.”

Meyers said he can always
find something fun to do
at Zuma Beach. There is
plenty of parking, great
waves and the nearby
Point Dume State Park
Preserve offers hiking and
fantastic views. Hood raves
about its beaches as well:

totally worth the parking.”

What better way to enjoy
Malibu’s great outdoors
than to spend a weekend
at the Leo Carrillo Camp
Grounds. Ring said,
“Nothing beats camping
with friends by the Malibu
beach. For my eighteenth
birthday this past year, I
got a group of my closest
friends, and we spent
the night barbecuing
hotdogs, playing games
with neighboring campers,
and enjoying the night
sky.” Even if you’re new to
the camping scene, Ring
assures you that “it is a
guaranteed good time.”
