representative. Josh was cared for at Connecticut Children’s for an extremely rare form of staph infection. After spending
six weeks at the Medical Center, he is now home with his family and continues to receive outpatient treatment from a
multi-disciplinary team of caregivers at Connecticut Children’s.
Right: Making sure that every child’s visit to Connecticut Children’s is a positive one is a personal commitment of every
employee at the Medical Center. Above, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Wendy Warring, dressed as the
Wizard of Oz’s Glinda the good witch, visits with Dantae Olabisi, 2, of Bristol, CT during this season’s Halloween celebration.
If children were just little adults,
it would be no problem to treat them at any hospital.
But it’s not that simple. In fact, children’s medical and
psychological needs are often more complicated. That’s
why kids feel better – and heal better – at a place designed
just for them.
Connecticut Children’s is the only academic medical
center in Connecticut exclusively dedicated to children.
Whether we treat a child for a sprained ankle or complex
reconstructive surgery, they are cared for by medical
professionals who are trained in the latest techniques in
pediatric medicine.
It’s the kind of care you’ll only find in one place.

We See Kids Differently.
This marks the third time that I have
had the pleasure of introducing our
annual report to you and I am more
excited than ever about the opportunities
that are in front of us. On behalf of
everyone at the Medical Center, please
let me offer our heartfelt thanks for your
support of our mission and for helping
us continue to give children the care
they deserve. Sure, we see kids differently
— but that’s just the start.
Sincerely,

Trish Stapleton, Administrative Assistant, PACU and Fernando Ferrer, MD, Surgeon in
Chief, look on as Jeffrey Hoffman cuts the ribbon to open the new surgical registration
and preoperative waiting area at Connecticut Children’s. The expanded area, necessary
due to the considerable growth in surgical procedures being performed at the Medical
Center, was made possible by a generous gift from the Hoffman family.
