LA SALLE GREEN HILLS - HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT - MANDALUYONG CITY Daily Bulletin Theme: “LIVE THE ANIMO THROUGH FAITH, SERVICE AND COMMUNION” TUESDAY - OCTOBER 27, 2015 No. 90 Lasallian Core Value: COMMUNION Graduate Attribute: Compassionate In taking on the name of Brother, De La Salle espoused that the relationship between teacher and student was one of fraternal care. Authentic love for students, in De La Salle’s mind, was the ultimate basis for effective teaching. Through the Christian Schools, young people experienced an affection and respect not commonly bestowed on the young by the general society of that time. De La Salle spoke often of how the Brother was to relate to his student: “By love and patience, win over the hearts of those whom you teach”. In yet another passage he invites the teacher to see in the young, the image of Jesus: “You should cultivate a very special tenderness for them and procure their spiritual welfare as far as you will be able, considering them as member of Jesus Christ and his well-beloved. (Meditations) The Lasallian is thus called upon to be compassionate. That is to say, the Lasallian is to mirror in his attitudes and actions his deep love for others, considering them to be his brothers and sisters. Reading LK 13:18- 21 Jesus said, “What is the Kingdom of God like? To what can I compare it? It is like a mustard seed that a man took and planted in the garden. When it was fully grown, it became a large bush and the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches.” Again he said, “To what shall I compare the Kingdom of God? It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of wheat flour until the whole batch of dough was leavened.” Reflection: 'What is the kingdom of God like?' The kingdom of God is the redeeming, healing, liberating presence of God that answers our deepest longings— for God, for justice, for happiness. It involves the power to change everything into all that is good. It has the breadth to shelter all of creation. As Paul in his letter to the Romans puts it, it is something that the whole of creation is waiting for—waiting for God to reveal it fully. In the risen Christ we see the kingdom in all its glory. In following Christ we are moving towards the kingdom, and the Holy Spirit enables us to get some understanding of it and bring it to others. Prayer: Let us pray then that by being open to the Spirit we will allow God to work through us to bring about the kingdom. LA SALLE GREEN HILLS VISION-MISSION La Salle Green Hills is a Lasallian Catholic educational institution that is internationally recognized, learnercentered, and service-oriented in pursuit of social transformation. “Domine Opus Tuum” Page 1 Today’s Schedule *SCOPE Club Lasallian Offering *Grade 7I Recollection *Second Quarter Special Exam - Day 2 ACTIVITIES FOR THE WEEK October 28, Wednesday *Institutional Assembly (Formation Session) *Small Group Sharing (1:00 - 3:00 p.m.) October 28 - November 3, Semestral Break (for Students) November 4, Wednesday *Start of Classes *Grade 7J Lasallian Offering and Class Mass (9:40 - 10:40 a.m.) *Activity Period November 5, Thursday *Grade 7E Lasallian Offering and Class Mass (7:40 – 8:40 a.m.) *HS 3 Career Field Trip *SCOPE Tabulations November 6, Friday *Grade 7G Lasallian Offering and Class Mass (7:40 – 8:40 a.m.) *Grade 7D Reach-out *Grade 10 Career Field Trip *Lasallian Earth Day *HS 4 CET Review *Department Meeting From the Principal COMMENDATION to . . . Manuel Galvez – 7B Miguel Martija – 9J Francis Michael Guevarra – 4J Psalm 130 De Profundis (Out of the Depths) Prayer for the Dead Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice. Let Your ears be attentive to my voice in supplication. If You, O Lord, mark iniquities, Lord, who can stand? But with You is forgiveness, that You may be revered. I trust in the Lord; my soul trusts in His word. My soul waits for the Lord more than sentinels wait for the dawn. More than sentinels wait for the dawn, let Israel wait for the Lord, For with the Lord is kindness and with Him is plenteous redemption; And He will redeem Israel from all their iniquities. The De Profundis takes its name from the first two words of the psalm in Latin. It is a penitential psalm that is sung as part of vespers (evening prayer) and in commemorations of the dead. It is also a good psalm to express our sorrow as we prepare for the Sacrament of Confession. Every time you recite the De Profundis, you can receive a partial indulgence (the remission of a portion of punishment for sin). From: http://catholicism.about.com Prizes will be given to your respective Math teachers at the end of the quarter.
