PROVIDENCE HOSPITAL FOUNDATION
Our Mission
Through philanthropy, Providence Hospital Foundation
is an advocate for those in need, and ambassador for
the mission of the hospital, and a steward of the
resources entrusted to it.
Our Purpose
Established in 1984, Providence Hospital Foundation
is a not-for-profit organization which receives
charitable gifts to Providence Hospital. The Foundation manages donors’ gifts according to donors’
wishes, to support the continuing healthcare ministry
of the Daughters of Charity in Mobile, Alabama. The
Foundation allows the hospital to reach many people
it might not otherwise be able to help. The Foundation works with the Hospital in meeting the identified
needs of the communities we serve. Contributions to
the Foundation help to fund programs, buildings and
equipment.

Dear Friends,
Under the leadership of the Daughters of
Charity, in 1854, Providence Hospital began providing care for Mobilians.
In 2016, this mission continues and
has never been stronger. The hospital
is committed to work with the sick and to
foster care to those in need.
While we are proud of our history, our goal to continue to be
advocates to those in need is ever present. The role of the
Foundation is to support the hospital to continue the legacy
started over 150 years ago.
We sincerely appreciate your support as a valued donor and
friend. This support has helped make it possible to provide the
highest care with the newest technology to our community.

Letter From Todd Kennedy
President and Chief Executive Officer, Providence Hospital
Dear Supporters,
Fiscal Year 2016 was a busy time for our Foundation and
Providence Hospital. With the Foundation’s support and the
support of our health system, we began multiple projects
across our health ministry to provide better access to care and
improve the technology that our physicians and nurses use
daily to improve the health of our community.
Major projects that formalized during 2016 were the remodeling of the Fitness and
Wellness center which is still underway. Providence also invested in expansion of our
Cardiology Department with the installation of new Catheterization / Electrophysiology labs. Providence worked over the course of FY 16 to construct, with our partners
Covenant Hospice, a new site of care on our campus for Hospice patients. This new
unit will give care to individuals during one of their most vulnerable times and will be
unique to Mobile as the only inpatient hospice within our community.
To provide better access to care, Providence finished its first full year of operation
of our Joint Venture Urgent Care center which helped care for over 10,500 patients.
This clinic, open 7 days a week and after hours, has aided in reducing our overall
emergency department visits as well as worked to produce faster response to the
needs of our community. Providence also opened our Snow Road clinic to provide
access to care close to home for our West Mobile community as well as those who
live close to the Mississippi state line.
So many exciting additions happened in Fiscal Year 16 and so many more are to
come. However, none of these efforts could be accomplished without the continued
support of our Foundation and our community, which is instrumental in raising funds
to support our Mission which has been in existence in Mobile for over 160 years.
The future is bright here at Providence and we look forward to an exciting new year.

Providence Foundation Executive Director
Dear Providence Family,
Thank you for your generosity!
We are grateful to the many generous donors and
volunteers. We especially thank retiring Board
Members Dr. Bill Barrick, Lynn Clapper, Helene
Hassell, Iris Fetterman Klein, Bert Meisler, Kimi Oaks,
Dr. Michael Pennington and Immediate past Board Chair, Brenda Huddle
for their many years of excellent service. Although they will be missed, we
look forward to working with a strong group of new and returning board
members in the year ahead.
The Foundation helps support the hospital so it can continue the mission
the Daughters of Charity began in 1854, a loving ministry of Jesus as healer
serving all persons with special attention to the poor and vulnerable.
It is an honor to be under the administrative covering of Ascension Health,
the largest Catholic and not-for-profit health system. When you give,
please be assured that every dollar stays local to the benefit of Providence
Hospital and our patients.

2015 Festival of Flowers
Benefits The Providence Hospital
Rehabilitation and Wellness Center
The theme of the 2015 Festival of Flowers was Southern
Roots, which showcased all the splendor and beauty of some of
the South’s most prestigious gardens and landscapes. The Festival
of Flowers is the Foundation’s flagship fundraiser, with proceeds
each year benefiting Providence Hospital.
In 2015 the proceeds were designated to help benefit facility
and equipment upgrades in the Providence Hospital’s Rehabilitation and Wellness Center. Thanks to an anonymous donation in
honor of Beth Rouse, and the $87,000 raised from the Festival of
Flowers, the Rehabilitation and Wellness Center will open under
a new name.

The 23rd annual Festival of Flowers,
sponsored by Wells Fargo, featured
unparalleled beauty of some of the world’s
most breathtaking landscapes. The Preview
Gala was held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016
with 800 guests present. $70,000 was raised
to purchase a state-of-the-art high resolution
X-ray imaging system for Providence
Hospital surgical suites.

Golf Classic
The Providence Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament is held every
fall at the Steelwood Country Club in Loxley, AL. The event benefits
Camp Bluebird, a camp for adult cancer survivors, and the Cancer
Center at Providence Hospital. In 2015 the Tournament was
sponsored by Iberia Wealth Advisors. Palmer’s Toyota Superstore
of Mobile was the Hole-in-One sponsor.
