Thank you for your support in helping your child be ready each day. PRINCIPAL’S CORNER Last week, I attended a conference in Seattle with over 2,000 principals. I know for many of you this would give you nightmares, but it was truly exhilarating for me to network with other principals from all over the country. We all had one thing in common ~ high- stakes testing is not the answer to produce better, smarter citizens. Unfortunately, we are required to administer these highstakes tests, but the snapshot picture they provide us regarding our school’s performance does not define who we are or where we are going. My goal is that Baldwin Creek students are learning skills for a lifetime, which include individuals who are hardworking, honest and caring. So we’re in the final quarter and with this time of year students start to think school is done, over, finished . . . you get the idea. Homework, as well as school work, becomes a little lax plus behaviors begin to flare up that we haven’t seen before. Please continue to help your child complete their homework, read, and follow a nightly routine during these last nine weeks of school as valuable learning needs to occur. Also, this time of year provides many opportunities for outdoor learning such as field trips, so reminders will be sent home when these special days are planned. We appreciate your support and partnership in helping your child do their very best in school. Happy Spring Break to all of you! Mrs. Voxland, Principal Our Box Tops for Education campaign continues, so keep clipping and sending them to school! Baldwin Creek Elementary Mission Statement: Working together we will be a caring community dedicated to lifelong learning. Bobcats Bulletin Baldwin Creek Elementary P.I.E. Meeting Minutes March 2, 2012 There were 5 people in attendance. The P.I.E. account balance is $4,423.34. Safeway sales for February were $450. Principal Voxland suggested funds should be raised for two benches for the front of the school. Emily will bring a list of fundraisers, which we will review at next month’s meeting. It was decided to provide snacks and desserts for the teachers during Parent/Teacher Conferences. Julie will contact volunteers and be in charge to set up each day at 3 p.m.. Melinda and Donna will bring snacks for Monday and Thursday. Someone will need to clean up the teachers’ lounge in the evening. Therese will be requesting individuals to help with the book fair which is scheduled during the Parent/ Teacher conferences. P.I.E. will provide snacks during PAWS testing. Mrs. Voxland has ordered several cases of water from Mr. D’s for the students during test week. Melinda sent a flyer out to all families which explains the Safeway and Mr. D’s fundraisers. Donna will be ordering the Mr. D’s cards for March. Due to Spring Break in early April, the next P.I.E. meeting will be Friday, March 30th at noon. Grocery Card Fundraisers Baldwin Creek Elementary continues to fundraise throughout the year. Just drop off a check before April 2nd for a Safeway and/or Mr. D’s grocery card. On the 10th of each month, your card(s) is available in the office. It’sthateasy! Our school receives a percentage from each card and this money is used for student programs/activities at school.
