SUCCESS THROUGH TEAMWORK
BOOK WEEK PARADE TAKES CENTRE STAGE!
I am dressing up as a monkey because I want to. Monkeys are my
favourite animals because they swing on vines. Then I changed my mind
and was coming as an ugly stepsister. Then I changed my mind again and
came as Captain Hook!!! Bejay
I am going as Doc McStuffins and she
is a doctor for stuffed animals and
toys. Her name is Doc. It is my
favourite book and show and she is a
girl and she has lots of toys. Most of
the time they are sick! Chloe

For bookweek I have three options for
my character.
I have Captain
America, the Hulk or Charlie from Willy
Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
My favourite is Captain America and
my second is the Hulk. I really, really,
really wanted to be Harry Potter but
Taila is being Hermione Granger and
I’m not allowed to be the same as Taila. I could be Peter Pan. I’ll just have
to wait and see. Timana
For Book Week I will be Willy Wonka.
He comes from Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory. Caleb.

Chillingham Public School
is a great school. Join us.
My character is Violet Beauregarde and she is naughty and mean to the
Ooompa-Loompas. She throws bugglegum at them. She is a character
from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She has blonde hair and wears
blue clothes and shoes wherever she goes. She has blue bubble gum. In
the story she blows up into a big blueberry and she is bluish purple in colour.

From the Principal’s desk
What a glorious day after yesterday’s downpour.
What a great day we had yesterday irrespective of the rain. There was a great variety of story book
characters, with Harry Potter and Willy Wonka characters being very popular. Thank you to all those
who came along for a great parade – the picnic lunch was a little different but still very enjoyable. It
was unfortunate that the Pre schoolers could not join us. Hopefully next year.
The Year 5 students are having a sports day at Wollumbin High School – hopefully the grounds aren’t
too wet. Maybe they’ll be doing some indoor sport.
Tomorrow, Friday 26th, students in Years 3-6 will be involved in a Touch football gala day in
Murwillumbah, accompanied by Mr Townsend. The students and Mr Townsend will catch Adam’s
bus to and from the gala day - the cost will be $5 per student for the bus. A canteen will be operating
on the day. Please make sure your child/ren have sunscreen on and a water bottle. For those who
have not returned permission notes, school will be as usual for you.
The School Public Speaking is next Wednesday 31st August. Mrs Dean informs me that the speeches
are coming along nicely and the students have been practising their microphone skills and fine tuning
their performances. It would lovely to see as many people as possible come along to support the
students. The students will be making their speeches in the Blue Room, commencing at 10am. We
start with students from Years 3 and 4, then students from Kindergarten to Year 2, followed by students
in Years 5 and 6. It is extremely difficult to give exact times as it’s difficult to pre-empt how long each
speech will take. We also ask that parents are respectful of all students by not leaving or entering the
room when they are speaking. Morning tea will be provided. Students will be selected to participate
in the Far North Coast Public Speaking to be held in Murwillumbah on Wednesday 7th September.
Next Thursday, 1st September, we will combine with Tyalgum, Crystal Creek and Dungay in a
Multicultural Day at Dungay Public School. The country we are studying this year is New Zealand.
Students will come to school as usual and we will catch the bus to Dungay, returning in time for the
afternoon school bus. Parents are welcome to attend the ‘Parade of Nations’ (from 10am to 11am),
when each school introduces its country and performs its item – ours is the Haka. Others countries are
Japan, Spain, Ireland, Mexico, Brazil, Canada, Thailand, Peru, Hawaii and China. Lunch is a sample
of food from all the cultures on the day. If your child/ren would like 3 servings of food the cost is $4.50,
if they would like 4 servings the cost will be $6.00. Recess can either be purchased from the Dungay
canteen or students can bring their own. NOTE: Recess is not included in the $4.50 or $6.00. Thank
you to those who have sent their permission notes and lunch orders. If you have not, tomorrow is the
last day to return them.
The P&C Father’s Day stall will be NEXT Friday 2nd September. We ask all families (regardless of the
family dynamics) to donate an item for the stall. There are not many items as yet. Can you please
send them in as a matter of urgency!
