March, 2016 - Bethel Baptist Association
REJOICE!
He has been raised.
-Mark 16:6
We are able to do missions today because of the generations who
came before us, like Annie Armstrong. She rallied churches to give
more, pray more and do more for reaching people for Christ. As
modern-missions advocates unite to continue that work today,
we can be confident that her legacy will also be ours.
It is hard to believe that
spring is just around the corner.
We have a variety of opportunities for spiritual growth and
doing hands-on missions here in
the Bethel Association coming
up this month, including a week
of “Collide Blakely” evangelistic
activities. See elsewhere in this
newsletter for details on events
to kick-off our Spring in 2016.
I am continually encouraged by how the churches of the
Bethel Baptist Association
respond to mission needs right
here in our own community
and around the world!
Two
examples of this missionary
spirit were brought to my
attention
recently…
Mrs. Pat Hatcher from
Vilulah Baptist Church sent me
a copy of a letter to the editor
which she wrote and had
published in the Missions
Mosaic magazine of Woman’s
Missionary Union. The article
told the story of the Fort Gaines
Clothes Closet Ministry which
regularly involves volunteers
from five Bethel Association
churches and three other
churches in ministering to
the physical needs of low income Clay County residents.
Another example of the
mission-mindedness of our
Bethel Association was provided
by Bro. Flinn Gregory of
Colomokee Baptist Church, who
directs the SW Georgia branch
of the Book-Link International
Ministry. He reported that in
the last associational year (Oct.
1, 2014 - Sept. 30, 2015),
eleven churches in our Bethel
Association donated over 4,600
books and other materials (that’s
2,016 pounds!) and $752 in
shipping funds to Book-Link! In
addition, volunteers from our association contributed 22 hours of
labor to help sort and pack
books. These printed materials
are shipped to other countries
that have little or no access to
God’s written word, to help
national pastors and evangelists
to share the Gospel and to grow
disciples for our Lord.
T h a n k y o u , Be t h e l
Baptists, for expressing your
love for the Lord Jesus Christ in
practical ways like these.
Together, you are sharing the
light of God’s W ord in
dark place s ev ery where.
Have
a
blessed
Easter!
Bro. James
