Nancy Comai, Development Director Angie’s Shelter For Women I thank you all for your support , kindness, patience, and most of all for liste ning. My goal when entering Angie’s was to be mys elf again and be heard and I certainly accompli shed that! I have a special spot in my heart for each of you, you all gave a piece of your self that I will cherish forever. Angie’s provides a safe haven for women who face various challenges and who are committed to change. New Horizons operates Angie’s Shelter for Women at full capacity with a waiting list. Of 96 clients served in 2011, 43 moved on successfully. Case Management & Health Services Residents are required to meet with a case manager within three days of arriving at New Horizons. It is our goal to work with them to help them find the strength and skills to move on to self-sufficiency. From October 2011 through June 2012, New Horizons has directly assisted 21 homeless veterans into permanent, transitional or institutional housing. We have filled 8% of the state’s need for housing homeless veterans. Poor health and risky behaviors contribute to homelessness and are exacerbated by prolonged periods of housing instability. Last year, the Mobile Community Health team treated 1,189 people!
