Funland Feature June 8-15, 2015 Welcome to the Funland Feature! This is a weekly newspaper featuring, YOU, our guests. It also highlights fun and exciting events going on at Funland, and will give you an up to date look at the most popular games, prizes, and rides. June is officially here! School is out, the summer has begun and warm weather has arrived. This week started off with sunny comfortable beach days in the mid-eighties and it heated up to into the nineties by the weekend. Rehoboth Beach is a bustling vacation destination once again, and with that brings more families and friends returning to enjoy Funland. Here at Funland we like to keep our guests on their toes by consistently adding new attractions to our park. This week we are proud to announce an edition to our Food Cart, soft pretzels! Served hot and freshly prepared, this edition is the perfect snack to keep you at the top of your Skee-Ball game or to tide you over so you can fit in a few more rides before dinner. Be sure to come check them out, and join the fun during your next trip to the boardwalk. Winners of the Week Meet Paul and Porter, they were visiting Funland this week from the Philadelphia area, and are our featured “Winners of the Week.” Paul was able to wield his strength to win the jumbo prize at Hi-Striker on June 9th, 2015. Paul explained that, “I won on the second try. I wanted to win the Eagles bear for Porter.” Paul and Porter are from outside of Philadelphia and their family comes to Rehoboth Beach every year. Paul’s favorite thing about the area is the food but Porter exclaimed, “I like the tea cups,” in reference to our ride the Crazy Dazys. Congrats again on winning that Eagles bear Paul and Porter and we hope to see you again soon! Funland Summer Traditions Coming to Funland for many families is an annual tradition. Riding favorite rides and playing favorite games has become a must for many families who visit Rehoboth Beach. This is truly the case for two York College Professors and their daughter who look forward to coming to Rehoboth Beach, as soon as school is out, every year. “We make the trip here every year and always have a great time. We just love Funland.” When asked what she like best about Funland the recent 8th grade graduate explained she enjoys, “When we come here we always have to ride all the rides multiple times until we run out of green tickets.” Another Funland visitor who enjoyed watching her grandchildren, ages nine and twelve, as they rode the Merry-Go-Round said “Early June is her favorite time to come to Funland, because there are not usually any lines.” “We always have a great time because everything is so practical and it’s always a wonderful way to spend an afternoon if you don’t want to go to the beach on a super hot sunny day.” We are so happy to meet our guests and hear their stories. Being a part of your lifelong memories is what Funland is all about! Meet the Employees Xavier, nineteen, is from Browns Town, Jamaica. He studies industrial engineering at the Caribbean Maritime Institute in Kingston, Jamaica. He will be a junior in the fall. Xavier first heard of Funland through a local sponsor in Jamaica and originally applied because the rides at Funland intrigued his engineering mind. How the rides work and are operated interests Xavier and he enjoys working at Funland. This is now Xavier’s second summer at Funland. He decided to come back after his first summer simply because of the Funland family. His favorite ride to operate is the Sea Dragon because he enjoys watching the customers’ reactions, and his favorite game to run is Frog Bog, despite that he usually gets really wet with pond water. During his free time Xavier prefers to ride the Bumper Cars. Above: Pictured (L to R) Al Fasnacht and Xavier. This picture was the first Funland Facebook post to get over 1,000 likes. His favorite thing about Rehoboth Beach, and America in general, is the fireworks celebration for the 4th of July. Xavier’s favorite thing about Funland it is operating the rides and putting smiles on every customers’ face. Popular Prizes at Funland Derby is one of Funland’s most popular games. It is located on the boardwalk on the north end of Funland. During busy weekends, contestants battle for a spot to test their skill in this very competitive game. Each contestant rolls a ball up a ramp onto a “playing field” colored holes. Each color dictates the amount of steps forward your horse will take. The size of the prize depends on the number of horses in the race; the more people you beat the larger the size of the prize. We are happy to announce that this summer the horse prizes are back by popular demand! So when customers come to play in their own version of the Belmont Stakes they have a chance to bring home a winning thoroughbred for only $1 per game. Next time you visit us step up to the test and try to win a beloved horse. We will be waiting for your visit! To help you plan your trip visit our social media pages. We will update our accounts with various information including abnormal closing times. @funlandrehoboth in your pictures from the park! We will be reposting our favorites to our official account.
