Our balance on the Community Center Loan is now $595,000.00. We have 181 *IHM STAR* families who have adopted the
average $1,000.00 pledge. We need another 414 to reach our goal. The official twelve-month pledge period begins
January1, 2014, so please adopt a $1,000.00 pledge before year-end. Understandably, not everyone can give $1,000.00 but it is
important that we have all parish families participate, so please complete a pledge card for whatever amount you can pay over the
one-year period. Every dollar counts and everyone’s participation reflects that we all share the same goal to get this loan paid off.
Thank you to those who have already submitted their pledge cards.
llegar a nuestra meta.
MISA DE GALLO (Simbang Gabi) begins Monday, December 16th. At 5:00 am (No 7:00 am Mass December 16-24).

THE INTRODUCTORY RITES
Entrance Chant: O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
Gospel Acclamation
Nicene Creed
Penitential Rite
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and
earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord
Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father
before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God
from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the
Father; through him all things were made; For us men and for
our salvation he came down from heaven,
(all bow) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin
Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered
death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in
accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is
seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in
glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have
no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father
and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the
prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look
forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world
to come. Amen.

María, la Virgen, y se hizo hombre;
mundo futuro. Amén.

John Paul II came to the papacy in October, 1978. The 1981 assassination attempt in St. Peter’s Square occurred on May 13th, anniversary of the
first of the Fatima apparitions, and John Paul credited his survival to Our Lady of Fatima. He subsequently determined to make the consecration
of Russia to Our Lady as she had requested in 1929. On March 25, 1984, united with all the bishops in the world, John Paul consecrated the
world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and made special mention of Russia and her people. This consecration, Sr. Lucia said, satisfied Our
Lady’s request.
The following year, Mikhail Gorbachev came to power in the Soviet Union. The new Russian leader immediately set about introducing liberalizations and reforms in the Soviet Union—remember “perestroika” and “glastnost”? Margaret Thatcher famously said of Gorbachev , “I like him, I
can work with him.” Ronald Reagan also admired the new leader of the communist bloc, who visited America several times and who spoke of
God, and of God’s providence in political and economic affairs. Gorbachev also met twice with the Pope.
Gorbachev’s approach was more than just a breath of fresh air. It was a gale-force wind of freedom that, in six years, succeeded in dismantling
Soviet tyranny. Starting with Poland and Hungary, the nations of Eastern Europe freed themselves without so much as the firing of a shot. The
Berlin Wall was torn down by hand. The fifteen individual republics which had made up the USSR, led by the Baltic States, also freed themselves
from the Marxist yoke. The Soviet Union was officially dissolved on December 8, 1991—Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The communist
flag was lowered over the Kremlin for the last time, on Christmas Day that same year. Seven years after the 1984 consecration, Russia was free of
the scourge of atheist and materialist communism.
All of this, of course, is known; it is recorded history. The unrecorded history of the fall of the Soviet Empire is known largely only to Fatima
researchers. Put bluntly; the 1984 consecration averted the Third World War. IHM Pray for us Father Jim
MARIA X
Puedo

Stewardship Corner
Each of us has his or her own role to play in the coming of the
Kingdom of God. John the Baptist was called to be the herald of the
Messiah, preparing the way of the Lord. To what is the Lord
calling me?

GARDEN MINISTRY BENEFITS FROM EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT
Andrew Griffin an IHM Boy Scout, Troop 93, took on as his Eagle Scout project the building of a greenhouse to enable the Garden Ministry to propagate
vegetables onsite. He raised the funds necessary by holding a car wash, individual donations and a generous donation from the Knights of Columbus.
With the assistance of nine of his fellow Scouts, construction began with the foundation on November 2nd., and on November 9th the greenhouse was completed.
The greenhouse is constructed of an aluminum frame covered with twin polycarbonate panels. It was impressive to watch the scouts work as a team with Andrew
directing the work. Two adults were there for any needed guidance.
Thanks to Andrew & his fellow Scouts for donating their time, talent and treasure to benefit the Garden Ministry whose purpose is to provide fresh vegetables to the
St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. You are all appreciated!

Sommerset III to Mass on Sundays. The couple is bilingual, so any mass is fine. We are searching for drivers
living near Deer Valley/Hillcrest in Antioch. Please call
Richard Nahm at 925.240.9885.
EXPRESSION OF GRATITUDE—We want to recognize
and thank Iris Villegas Nahm for her diligent efforts in procuring our new AED (Defibrillator) recently installed in our
Parish Hall. We also want to extend our sincere thanks and
appreciation to American Medical Response (AMR), for their
most generous donation of the free Defibrillator
Equipment.
