There are 24 Rites in the Catholic Church. Our Rite, the Roman/Latin Rite is only one of them. While it is the largest in the church it is important to know who our other brothers and sisters in the faith are. What do I know about these Rites...what do they teach us. FATHER’S DAY NOVENA CARDS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE BOOKSTORE AND IN THE PARISH OFFICE. REMEMBER YOUR FATHERS AND GRANDFATHERS ON FATHER’S DAY, JUNE 15 WITH A SPIRITUAL BOUQUET. Page 3 June 8, 2014 Catholic Parish of St. John Neumann PASTOR’S REFLECTION Pentecost - June 8, 2014 Dear Friends, St. Paul reminds us in the second reading today, “In one Spirit we are all baptized into one body.” All the baptized have been drawn into the body of Christ, and now live in that place where the Holy Spirit dwells, the Spirit that fills and gives life to Christ’s body...and this body of Christ into which we have been drawn exhales us out into the world, to live as followers of Christ and so be His witnesses. • How do I let God breathe me into the body of Christ? • How do I let God breathe me out into the world? As you reflect on God’s Word, may He strengthen you with His peace. May the good Lord bless you and your dear family abundantly each day. Please pray for me. In Christ, Msgr. Pablo A. Navarro JUSTICE CORNER – JUNE 8 PENTECOST Today’s scriptures remind us that the Spirit is social and leads us into solidarity with the world. The Spirit changes our behavior and moves us into community. The Holy Spirit opened locked doors, replaced fear with courage, proclaimed peace, imparted grace to forgive sins, and empowered the fearful to speak boldly in many tongues. Today, the Spirit imparts gifts to be shared, inspires messages of peace, and calls us to care for others. The Spirit imparts grace to identify with the needs and struggles of the world, listen to people who are poor or oppressed, and speak up for justice. The Spirit emboldens us to take personal risks for the sake of building God’s Kingdom on earth. What is God asking you to risk to take? Think about a situation that makes you uneasy. Is God calling you to engage with someone who makes you feel uncomfortable because of their lifestyle, donate to a cause though your finances are lean, or spend time ministering to prisoners, addicts, or unlovable?
