Row 1: Chain 40 stitches
Row 2: Sc in each stitch. For mine I used only the backloop. Chain one and turn.
Additional Rows: Repeat row 2 until you have your desired width.
Adding The Hair
I started by creating side-swept bangs with a loop method like you use to add fringe to the end of a
scarf. Cut your yarn to double the length you need, fold it in half, insert the middle (where the fold is)
under one of the stitches and then pull the ends through the loop. Take the loops and pull them in the
desired direction and insert them in a stitch. Weave in the ends making sure you donʼt pull them too
tight or it will make your hat bunch.
In the shorter-hair version on the first page I created a section of hair using the sewing machine
method and then secured the ends using one long stitch.
For the long pieces I used the following method:
Wrap yarn around a book for the desired
length. I used a Dr. Seuss book for a little
longer than a bob and then trimmed it up.
Tape the top of the front and back of book.
Cut the opposite end.

Using your sewing machine, sew in between
the two pieces of tape. I ran them through
twice for added stability.
Remove tape.

Add hair in the desired pattern and sew in
place with a whipstitch. I laid the hair facing
the opposite direction so when it was flipped
up the stitches would be hidden and create
some “body” for the hair. For my baby wig I
used four sections of sewn hair (approx. 6
inches wide). See diagram to see where I
placed my sections.
(see pictures below)
Attach headband piece with a whipstitch. I placed mine under a section of the side hair just about the
rim of the hat to conceal the ends.
