PENANG
Penang is the third-largest economy amongst
the states of Malaysia, after Selangor and
Johor. Penang is the state with the highest
GDP per capita in Malaysia in 2010 with RM
33,456.00 (USD $10,893.00). Manufacturing
is the most important component of the
Penang economy, contributing 45.9% of the
state's GDP (2000).

PENANG & MSW
Approximately 2,200 tonnes of MSW are collected each day for disposal in
Penang State. The municipalities are the primary service providers for MSWM;
however a number of private waste contractors operate in the State, and are
registered with the local governments. MPPP and MPSP operate two transfer
stations, a landfill for construction and demolition waste, a sanitary landfill for
MSW, and collection fleets.
