Local investors have purchased the 60,000 SF former Big Dog
Motorcycles. Kris Wessel, Jeff Walenta and Scott Salome of NAI
Martens handled the deal. The building at 1520 E. Douglas will
be offered for lease in increments starting at 3,500 SF. For more

One Kellogg Place has an end cap available where the former

Wesley Medical Center will build a $28 million children's hospital within its main hospital on North Hillside. The project calls for
a complete renovation of Wesley's pediatric areas as well as the
addition of 15 private room. Wesley's 30-bed pediatric unit will
also receive aesthetic upgrades and improvements to its heating
and cooling systems, renovated lobby, entrance and elevators are
also part of the plan. The project is expected to take 18 months
to complete.
Hopping Gnome Brewery has started construction at Douglas
& Hydraulic. The beer production facility and tap room will be
located at 1710 E. Douglas and will open in April.
Dunkin' Donuts had its first Wichita official opening in January at
333 S. West Street. The franchisees plan to open 14 restaurants
in Kansas, a total of nine in Wichita.
Ethan Allen Design Center is returning to Wichita in Waterfront
Plaza on the northwest corner of 13th & Webb. The 7,200 SF
store will be next to SpaRenity Nails & Organic. Ethan Allen has
about 300 stores globally.
Alpha 1 Drop Zone, a Army and Navy supply store, is moving
from 1,950 SF near 21st & Tyler to 6,000 SF at 443 N. Maize.
Abuelo's is planning an opening its 7,700 SF west Wichita restaurant near Taft & Ridge on May 11. A 1,000 SF outdoor patio
will also be included. The restaurant is under construction at 452
N. Ridge Road, south of Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers and Panera Bread. Abuelo's has another location at 1413 N.
Waterfront Parkway.
Frankenberry & Johnson, a Wichita dental group, has relocated not far from where the original practice was in northeast
Wichita. The 16,500 SF new building is at 3101 N. Cypress.

New Market Square is expanding. The 73-acre 'New Market
North' will be located between Super Target and 29th Street
and be apparal-focused. Also in New Market Square, Edible
Arrangements will be locating in 1,415 SF next to GNC and
The Joint, a chiropractic franchise, will open in the same center in front of Super Target where Pie Five Pizza and Firehouse
Subs are located.
M29 Development is developing two 1.44-acre commercial/
retail sites in front of the Sam's near 29th Street N & Maize
Road. The first phase of the project calls for a 10,880 SF retail
center facing 29th Street. Construction on the project is expected to start in March and be completed by mid-July. The
second phase will face Maize Road.
QuikTrip has started construction on a replacement store
near 47th Street S & Hydraulic. The store, which will replace an
older facility at 4808 S. Hydraulic, will open this summer. This
is part of a continued by from Tulsa-based QuikTrip Corp. to
update and expand its Wichita presence. A store near K-96 &
Ridge Road and the Quiktrip near 35th Street North & Oliver
opened at the end of January.
Eddie Bauer is moving within Bradley Fair at 21st & Rock
to the former 4,500 SF Coldwater Creek between J. Jill and
White House/ Black Market. The new store model will sell
sportswear and footwear along with gear and accessories for
outdoor activities.
Buck's Bar & Grill is opening at Ninth & West in the former
Cleat's Sports Bar & Grill, previously Shenanigans. The theme
will be everything "buck," from deer heads to a Buck Owens
guitar and album.
Verita Coffee Co. is opening a 1,500 SF coffee shop at 9414
W. Central, which is between Tyler & Maize. The coffee shop
will specialize in light roast coffee.
Invino Fine Furniture Consignment is expanding for the
second time since moving in October 2013 and the fourth time
since opening four years ago. Invino is adding 3,900 SF to
its existing 4,000 SF. The new space is behind their neighbor
Great Harvest Bread Co. Currently, there is not a lot of storage space, so inventory goes straight out onto the floor. The
additional space will allow for a work area, to help customers
with fixing and refurbishing.

The new design and reworked East Kellogg plan was unveiled
by the City of Wichita. The plan includes upgrades and modifications to Kellogg (US-54/400), Webb Rd, Greenwich Rd &
K-96. Construction should begin in the fall.
Gianni Bacci's, a tapas bar disguised as a speakeasy, is
opening across from Taste & See in Old Town. The restaurant,
at 301 N. Washington on the northwest corner of Second &
Washington, will have 40 seats on the interior and 40 seats on
the patio.
Douglas Avenue development is expected to ramp up in 2015
with more than $180 million in projects planned. The Wichita
Downtown Development Corp. has identified seven key projects that are expected to begin or continue this year on or near
Douglas:
• New downtown library - Wichita City Council gave approval to move forward with the design phase ($30 million)
• River Vista development - 154-unit apartment complex
and parking garage near Douglas & Mclean ($38.4 million)
• Intrust Bank - Renovating its downtown headquarters at
105 N. Main ($2 million)
• Exchange Place & Biting Building - a 230-unit residential
project near Douglas & Market ($66 million)
• "Hole" on Douglas between Main & Market - Will be
transformed into a pop-up urban park
• Former Merrill Lynch building - Tentative plan for renovations to the first and second floor of the office building at
Douglas & Market
• Union Station - Building improvements and new construction for retail, restaurants and offices. ($54 million)
