Vincent to work with the guidance of two associate superintendents from the Archdiocesan Office of Catholic Schools to employ a new principal for next year. I would like to thank the committee members for their time and cooperation in serving as consultants as we sought to make our selection. We were fortunate to have eleven educators apply for the position to lead our school. The three finalists whom we interviewed, were all well qualified to serve as principal. After careful discernment of all the factors involved, considering the committee’s input, I decided as Pastor to offer the position to Mrs. Annette Accomando. She is currently serving as the vice chancellor of Nunez Community College and has taught on the primary, secondary, and college levels including as a teacher at OLPS. Apart from her extensive academic credentials and superior educational experience, her membership in our church parish and local community as a Chalmette resident will afford her an ease of participation in many school activities and parish events as well. She has many important contacts in the community and her experience as a student, teacher and parent at Catholic schools will allow her an ease of adjusting to working with the Archdiocese, the parish, faculty, parents, and parishioners. As an active member of the parish she has taught CCD religion for the past three years at OLPS, is a lector at mass and is an officer of the Legion of Mary at OLPS. I am very confident that she will be a great success as principal and continue to be an asset to our parish community. She has been approved to do so by Archbishop Aymond. Her official employment will begin July 1. With the grace of God our school as a ministry of our parish will continue to be a source of love to the community by teaching our children about faith, family and knowledge. Our Lady of Prompt Succor ….. Hasten to Help Us! Always. Sincerely yours in Christ, Rev. Lance J. Everyone is welcome to come eat lunch and share this special day with us. On Sunday, February 21 at 10:30am mass we celebrated God’s Special Children’s Mass. It was a huge success and had many participate for the surrounding areas. We received a letter one of the participants, Kristen Cipriani. Here is a few excerpts from her letter: “ Your church is so beautiful! It is lovely both physically/architecturally as well as spiritually. You definitely have the ‘welcoming’ atmosphere that the Archbishop is striving for!” “Your kind comments during the prayers of the faithful (about praying for those with disabilities) as well as throughout the Mass (mentions the CPD at the beginning and end of Mass) were very comforting.” “I am truly blessed to partake in the Catholic Church’s ministries regarding disabilities on both the Parish and the Archdiocesan level. I am grateful that you value and display continued support of individuals with disabilities!” Jubilee of Mercy: Did you Know? From the Office of Evangelization: This weekend following Saturday 4pm, Sunday 8:30am and 10:30am Mass, we will have our Second Sunday Social. All are welcome to come have some coffee and donuts following mass. Please come be apart of our parish. As part of the ongoing promotion of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, the Office of Evangelization would like to take this opportunity to catechize and further explain the Jubilee Indulgence. The Indulgence can be obtained by walking through the Holy Door at St. Louis Cathedral, or by visiting the other specially designated pilgrimage sites listed below. In addition to a pilgrimage, the Jubilee Indulgence may also be obtained through participating in the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. Whether one walks through the Holy Door, goes on pilgrimage, or participates in a Work of Mercy, it is necessary to receive Holy Communion, participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and pray for the Holy Father within three days to receive the grace of the indulgence. For the sick and those unable to participate in a pilgrimage or Work of Mercy, Pope Francis has granted the ability to obtain the same Jubilee Indulgence by receiving Holy Communion or participating in Mass through various means of communication (TV – WLAE Sunday 11:00 AM/Radio – 690AM Sunday 11:00 AM). Lastly, Pope Francis granted the Jubilee Indulgence to prisoners, stating that they can receive the indulgence in their prison chapels. In the Archdiocese of New Orleans, Archbishop Aymond has designated the following Churches as Jubilee Pilgrimage Sites: • Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis King of France(Only Holy Door) • National Votive Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor • Shrine of the Vietnamese Holy Martyrs • St. Jude Shrine • National Shrine of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos • St. Joseph Church and Shrine on the Westbank • St. Joseph Abbey • Divine Mercy Parish • St. Ann Church and Shrine
