Thank you for being faithful Stewards! NEW PARISHIONERS: Ulvia Cruz BAPTISMS: Lacey Grace Dix Tiffany, Ella and Logan Demars and Logan Hayes Andrea, Joel and Joao Amorin-Costa Erika, Julio, Kevin and Katherine Fonseca Eiren, Gene and Douglas Kerr “Go and do likewise.” Can there be a more simple instruction from our Lord and Savior Jesus? With these words, He closes the Parable of the Good Samaritan, which is at the heart of our Gospel reading for today. That parable was inspired by the question, “Who is my neighbor?” That parable may be the most familiar to people of faith, and even to those who are not Christians, for it represents what is expected of us as followers of Christ, but it also presents an expectation for every human person. A simplified answer to the question “Who is my neighbor?” might be “Your neighbor is anyone you see or know who is in need.” It is much more than the person who lives in your neighborhood, or someone you may know at church or at the office. Equally telling is the response the questioner gave to Jesus when the Lord asked, after sharing the parable, “Which was the neighbor to the robber’s victim?” to which the lawyer responded, “The one who treated him with mercy.” Is it any wonder that Pope Francis has declared this a Year of Mercy? What he expects of us is what Jesus expects from us. The Holy Father says, “Let us become agents of Christ’s mercy, channels through which God can water the earth, protect all creation, and make justice and peace flourish.” That is a call to stewardship. Copyright © 2016www.THECATHOLICSTEWARD.com YEAR OF MERCY SERIES Matt 9:11-13 The Pharisees said to Jesus’ disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” Jesus heard this and said, “Those who are well do not need a physician, but sick people do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” Each week in our bulletin we will add five new suggestions as to how we might promote Mercy during this Jubilee Year. See which one(s) move you! 16) Make a meal (or buy a gift certificate) for a mom who’s just given birth or adopted a child, or for someone who’s just gone through a loss. 17) Hold. Your. Tongue. 18) Offer to run an errand (groceries, dry cleaning pick-up, dog-walking) for a busy parent or homebound person. 19) If you can’t sit down beside a homeless person to talk for a while today, at least send a donation to a ministry that does do this (such as Brothers Keeper). 20) If you’re sharing a treat, take the smaller portion. There the Old Testament prophet Elijah lived and confronted the priests of Ba’al. In the twelfth century, hermits living on the mountain had a chapel dedicated to Our Lady, and by the thirteenth century, they were known as “Brothers of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.” The Carmelite brothers and sisters of our own time are their spiritual descendants and today is their patronal feast. This order, under the patronage of Mary, the Mother of God, embraces an ascetic life of poverty and contemplative spirituality. Many great saints were Carmelites -- St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, and St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, to name just a few. Our Lady of Mount Carmel, your life shows us perfect stewardship -- you were called and gifted by God; you responded generously, creatively, and prudently; and you understood your divinely assigned role as “handmaid” in terms of service and fidelity. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us that we may see and follow your example. Eleven styles of note cards with a gift magnet. Tray with note pad and pen. These make nice hostess gifts. Children and adult coloring books. Small Guardian Angel figures for special people. Care Notes: Finding comfort and healing in the Rosary. Finding stillness in the presence of God. Finding strength to survive a crisis or tragedy. Books: On Pluto-Inside the mind of Alzheimer's – “This is a book about living with Alzheimer’s, not dying with it. It is a book about hope, faith, and humor—a prescription far more powerful than the conventional medication available today to fight this disease. Greg O’Brien, an award-winning investigative reporter, has been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's…. Acting on long-term memory and skill coupled with welldeveloped journalistic grit, O’Brien decided to tackle the disease and his imminent decline by writing frankly about the journey. O’Brien is a master storyteller. His story is naked, wrenching, and soul searching for a generation and their loved ones about to cross the threshold of this death in slow motion. (This book)”… is a trail-blazing roadmap for a generation—both a “how to” for fighting a disease, and a “how not” to give up!” The Blessed Trinity Gift Store Hours: Wednesday* 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. *10% off all regular priced items. Saturday: 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. Sunday:8:00-8:45a.m., 9:45-11:00a.m., 12:00-12:30p.m., 4:00-5:00p.m. COFFEE & DONUTS Every Sunday in the Parish Hall after the 7:15am, 8:45am and 11:00am Masses.
