We will start off with the PACER test. Build up your stamina by doing daily aerobic activities for 15 minutes (or more), continuously. Activities such as walking, soccer, dancing, swimming, and, basketball are aerobic activities. You should be doing push-‐ups and curl ups to reach the number of reps in your healthy fitness zone. Don’t forget to stretch regularly for your Sit and Reach and Trunklift tests. Go to the webpage highlighted above, to view the video. Also, go to iTunes to get the Audio (search: Fitnessgram Pushup, Fitnessgram CurlUp, Fitnessgram 15M PACER). Go to your Jupiter email for more info. You should do 60 minutes of physical activity most days of the week. Do a variety of activities that you enjoy and workout your full body. Your PE Homework is to go play! If, you feel your heart “exercising,” if, you become warmer, and get sweaty – you are doing a great job! Remember that playing safely means keeping a good bubble around you (a personal space), looking ahead of you, and, maintaining your balance. We are focusing this month on activities that keep your heart healthy, so, bring water with you to PE class, because we will be moving for longer stretches of time. They are giving their classes extra activity time, aiming to do a one mile walk/jog each session at least 2x/week. Students will receive small rewards as they earn mileage in the MM database. Their participation in this program indicates that, these teachers care about their students’ health. They understand that movement re-energizes the brain and helps kids settle back into the classroom for learning. Please continue walking/jogging with your child at home to help them get in part of their 60 minutes of activity time every day. Walking/jogging improves your child’s health and fitness levels and it’s a free activity to do together. Come use our schoolyard track (13 laps = 1mile), walk around your neighborhood, or, go to Marine Park. It is an excellent way to share time together as a family, doing an activity that you all can do, to invite friends along to socialize, and, it lets your child know you are just as interested in their health/fitness as you are in their academics. Have them be sure to bring their sneakers to school, on their MM days.
