KEVIN Dear Parish Family, Next week’s issue of The Monitor, our Diocesan newspaper, will be announcing all the transfers and changes of priest personnel coming in July. I wanted to let you know before then that as of July 1st, I will be taking a five month sabbatical. Even before my transfer last July, I had been dealing with issues of increased burnout and depression. I was going to apply for a sabbatical but then I was transferred. There has been, what seems to be, an endless stream of difficult and sometimes tragic events in both my personal and ministerial life in the past few years which have taken a toll on me. Thus, I recently applied and Bishop O’Connell has graciously and generously granted me a mini-sabbatical from July 1st- Dec. 1st. Fr. Bambrick will remain here as Administrator during my time of sabbatical and I will return in December as Pastor. Of course, Fr. Fernando will also be here. I certainly plan to come back for our 50th Anniversary Gala on November 22nd. My hope and prayer is that this will be a time of renewal, refreshment and relaxation so I can regroup and come back in December as my old self, ready to do my ministry to the best of my ability. Being pastor of two parishes has been most stressful to me. I have spoken to the Bishop many times about this and he has agreed that St. Monica’s should have a priest of their own. Jackson is still very much growing, and our hope and prayer is that St. Monica grows and flourishes with the spiritual guidance which having their own Administrator can facilitate. Thus, also as of July 1st, St Monica’s will have a new priest Administrator. When I return in December, I will be Pastor of St. Aloysius only. There will be a lot happening here before July, such as First Communions in May, our Carnival beginning May 29th, many weddings, and of course our Outdoor Parish Mass and 50th Anniversary Kickoff Picnic on Sunday June 23rd at Pine Park in Lakewood. I am very much looking forward to these happy celebrations and I ask for your patience with me and for your prayers now and during my time of sabbatical. I have told many of you, and the Bishop, that I very much love the St. Aloysius community and being Pastor here, but I am no good to anyone if I am not in good mental, spiritual and physical health and this time will be dedicated to that. Thank you for all your loving support, for your prayers and all you do for St. Al’s! God’s Love and Blessings, Fr. Kevin 640 Page 4 Church of Saint Aloysius, Jackson, New Jersey Week At A Glance Mass Intentions Sunday, April 28 7:00 a.m. William Carroll, r/o Charlie & Debbie Garofano 8:30 a.m. Alfonsas Drobavicius, r/o Daughters & Son-in-Law 10:30 a.m. Grace Stanger, Mardones Family Hugh Boyle, r/o His Family 12:30 p.m. John Marini, r/o Jean & Joseph DelDuca 5:00 p.m. Dorothy Ruane, r/o Walter & Glen & Patricia Azzan Monday, April 29 8:00 a.m. Joshua Cramer, r/o Olsen Family Dennis O’Boyle, r/o Betty & Jake Karas Tuesday, April 30 8:00 a.m. Victoria Silverstadt, r/o Mollica Family Joe Greco, r/o Rita Bonamo Wednesday, May 1 8:00a.m. Rose & Phil Molinari, r/o Diane & Michelle Malgieri Joseph D’Andrea, r/o Inge Gaiss & Oscar Richter Thursday, May 2 8:00 a.m. Dominick Insogna, r/o Isabella Insogna Yvonne Nurczyk, r/o Joe & Maryann Pucilowski Friday, May 3 8:00 a.m. Cathy Savko, r/o Pam Lopez Larry Popp, r/o Mary Campbell 10:30 a.m. Rich Hader, r/o Nancy Hegedus Saturday, May 4 8:00 a.m. PERPETUAL ENROLLMENT 5:00 p.m. Spinelli Family, r/o Rob & Jill Spinelli Anne & Bill Freck, r/o MaryAnne & Joe Farinelli Sunday, May 5 7:00 a.m. Dominick Petrara On His Anniversary, r/o Nancy Petrara Stafyieras & Family 8:30 a.m. Steven Jelley, r/o Frank & Linda Jelley 10:30 a.m. John Cosentino, r/o Jean & Joseph Cosentino Jean Butler, r/o Norma Jean & Vincent Cesario 12:30 p.m. Marco San Filippo, r/o Camille San Filippo 5:00 p.m. Alfred Stravelli, r/o Gloria Stravelli & Nina Padrone Sunday April 28: 7:00 a.m. Mass (Church) 8:30 a.m. Mass (Church) 10:30 a.m. Children’s Mass w/1st Communion Church) 12:30 p.m. 1st Communion Mass (Church) 5:00 p.m. 1st Communion Mass (Church) Monday, April 29: 8:00 a.m. Daily Mass (Church) 9:30 a.m. Books and Bounce (School) Tuesday, April 30: 8:00 a.m. Daily Mass (Church) 7:00 p.m. Confessions (Church) 7:00 p.m. RCIA Inquiry (Parish Office) 8:00 p.m. Adult Confirmation (Parish Office) Wednesday, May 1: 8:00 a.m. Daily Mass (Church) 7:30 p.m. Youth Night (Old Church) 7:30 p.m. Health Care Ministry Meeting (Parish Office) Thursday, May 2: 8:00 a.m. Daily Mass (Church) 10:00 a.m. Merton Faith Sharing Group (Parish Office) 7:00 p.m. Support Group; Divorced & Separated (Parish Office) 7:00 p.m. Parish Picnic Meeting (Parish Office) Friday, May 3: 8:00 a.m. Daily Mass (Church) Saturday, May 4: 8:00 a.m. Daily Mass (Church) 4:00 p.m. Confessions (Church) 5:00 p.m. Mass (Church) 6:00 p.m. Casino Night (School Gym) Mass Readings: April 22 to April 28 Monday: Acts 14:5-18; Ps 115:1-4, 15-16; Jn 14:21-26 Tuesday: Acts 14:19-28; Ps 145:10-13ab, 21; Jn 14:27-31a Wednesday: Acts 15:1-6; Ps 122:1-5; Jn 15:1-8 or (for memorial) Gn 1:26 — 2:3 or Col 3:14-15, 17, 23-24; Ps 90:2-4, 12-14, 16; Mt 13:54-58 Thursday: Acts 15:7-21; Ps 96:1-3, 10; Jn 15:9-11 Friday: 1 Cor 15:1-8; Ps 19:2-5; Jn 14:6-14 Saturday: Acts 16:1-10; Ps 100:1b-3, 5; Jn 15:18-21 Sunday: Acts 15:1-2, 22-29; Ps 67:2-3, 5, 6, 8; Rv 21:10-14, 22-23; Jn 14:23-29 640 Page 5 April 28, 2013— Fifth Sunday of Easter ST. The Book of Revelation can often be difficult to understand. However this weekend the reading is very clear. One of my favorite lines in Scripture is found here. God says “Behold, I make all things new.” Talk about good timing! What a perfect sentiment for Spring. What hope and promise God’s word offers. Sometimes new things can be intimidating but most often newness suggests another chance to try again. You get a free “do over.” What’s important to remember is that by connecting ourselves with God we involve ourselves in a never ending Springtime. Look around at the beauty of the flowers and trees in bloom and celebrate that in God’s eyes, that’s us! Kids: What’s your favorite thing about Springtime? Take a minute to Thank God for that. When you’re outdoors look around at all the beautiful things and be happy. Ushers needed for all Masses – weekly or part time basis. To sign up, please contact Gary Stedman at Teens: Here’s hard one…take 15 minutes. each unplug look 732-364-8932 [email protected] If youday aretounable toand serve at aaround specificoutdoors. Men and women, 18 years and older are welcome. Adults: What feelings do you get when you hear God tell you “Behold, I make all things new”? Enjoy some time outdoors…soak the beauty of God’s creation.
