APPROACH AND THEME
Bogus Basin is first and foremost a community resource.
Bogus Basin must be a sustainable business:
Members of the community:
•
•
•
•
Visit Bogus Basin in the winter and in the
summer;
•
Enjoy the community feel/family friendliness,
proximity, and affordability of the facility;
Would like improvements to the winter
operations;
Are very interested in additional recreationbased activities.
•
•
•
As such, future operations will seek to:
“Preserve the old” while “developing the new”;
•
Manage operational costs through efficiency
and sustainability best practices.
•
“Weatherproof” against the variability of
winter conditions;
Explore opportunities for increased revenue
generation.
•
•
•
Bogus Basin.
Focus on mountain recreation that supports a
healthy and active lifestyle;
Preserve the scenic beauty of Bogus Basin;
Practice environmental stewardship through
the implementation of programs focused on
conservation and sustainability.
Maintain and enhance the community use of
the facility;
Balance community use and additional
tourism visitation that will provide the
necessary revenue for continued financial
viability of the operation.
A community playground for multi-season recreation that fosters active, healthy lifestyles and outdoor learning.
A hometown favorite. Boise’s backyard.
15
OPPORTUNITIES
OPPORTUNITIES:

the Simplot base area and the Pioneer base area.
18
OPPORTUNITIES: ACTIVITIES

Zip Line
Climbing Wall
Canopy Tour

20
OPPORTUNITIES: ACTIVITIES

21
OPPORTUNITIES: PROGRAMS
Future programming at Bogus Basin should
consider the continuation and growth of existing
programs augmented by new offerings that
utilize the expanded range of activities. Future
programs should build on the relationship with
Boise Parks & Recreation department.
22
OPPORTUNITIES: PROGRAMS
Kids Programs: day camps
Kids Programs: outdoor recreation
Kids Programs: skills classes
Adult Programs: team building
Adult Programs: fitness
Adult Programs: skills classes
23
OPPORTUNITIES: EVENTS
The existing events and festivals attract solid
visitation. They also sell F&B, and give more
people a reason to visit the mountain. As is the
case at Bogus Basin, large or smaller scale events
are often used as the initial “anchor” for summer
visitation, allowing a temporary “scale up” the
operation for the duration of the event. As the
resort grows, these “part-time” activities may
become full-time.
24
OPPORTUNITIES: EVENTS
Outings: team building, skills classes
Races
Special Events
Festivals: recreation-oriented, food/drink
Mountain Biking,Train Running
