Your Generosity Makes A
Just look
at what we've already
accomplished thanks to your support of the
auction - as donors, buyers, sponsors, attendees - as well as your contributions to
the school's Annual Fund. Without your

these important resources for our

Dear Friends in the Lord,
Time has a way of slipping by more quickly than one would expect. Hard to believe this is
already our sixth parish auction here at St. Agnes! Your support and interest in this event are
much, much appreciated and very, very helpful. Besides, the auction gives us an excuse to
celebrate in the midst of the “winter blahs!”
The proceeds from the 2011 auction will help with four projects: 1) the purchasing of more unit
ventilators for the school building to continue improving the A/C ventilation, 2) the purchase of
desks for our 7th/8th grade classes, 3) the purchase of science kits for kindergarten through the
sixth grades of our school, and 4) the upgrading of the pre-K through 2nd grades’ playground
area and equipment on the north side of our school. Your generosity will enable our parish to
carry out these projects.
Much work goes on behind the scenes of make our auction a success. Blessings to all who have
shared their time and energy in making it “the event!” that it is!
Gratefully in Christ,

if any person or business was inadvertently left off one of these lists.

General Information
St. Agnes Parish/School and the auction committee warrant neither the quality nor the value of items at the
auction. All items are sold “as is” and are subject to conditions and terms stipulated by the donor. Please
inspect an item and specifications before bidding. The dollar values are estimates provided by the donor
and are not guaranteed by the auction committee for tax purposes. By your purchase of an auction ticket
and bid number, you waive any claims for liability against St. Agnes Parish/School for products or services
received. No exchanges, substitutions or refunds will be honored by the auction committee. Bidders must be
21 years of age to purchase any item containing alcohol.
Checkout Procedures
To be eligible to bid, you must have a bid number. You will be responsible for all purchases made on your bid
number. All group purchases must be paid for under one bid number. Prior to retrieving your (successfully bid
on) Live or Silent Auction item, you must pay for that item. Cash, debit cards, personal checks, Visa and
Mastercard are all accepted. Auction officials will be checking receipts, and your bid number against the item
number before you may take the item. Please have your bid number with you.
The cashier’s booth is located in the school office at the event entrance.
Ask For “Express Pay”
If you plan to use a credit or debit card (Visa or Mastercard accepted) to pay for your purchases, your card can
be swiped at the check-in table when you arrive, so you can avoid long lines at the end of the event. All credit
card information is securely stored in our terminals. After your credit/debit card is swiped, your bidder number
is entered. From this point on – the credit card data is linked to your bidder number. You will be required to
sign a $0.00 balance receipt (you will receive a copy).
During the event, you may use your bidder number for the Live and Silent Auctions as well as other activities
such as purchasing chances on The Barrel of Booze and other raffles.
At the end of the event, simply pick up the purchases you successfully bid upon, by-pass the cashier and we
will mail you a detailed receipt listing of your purchases for the evening. In the event that you need to pick up
gift cards/certificates or if you’d like a receipt before leaving, a special check-out line reserved just for those
using “Express Pay” will be available.
Item Pick-Up
Once you have a paid receipt you may pick up your item. (“Express Pay” recipients will have their bid number
with an Express Pay logo and also their pre-pay receipt for proof.) All items purchased should be taken home
this evening. St. Agnes School/Parish is not responsible for items lost or forgotten (or, heaven forbid, stolen).
If you require assistance with removal of an item, please contact a member of the auction committee.

a note
from your Auction Chairs
We indeed are blessed…fortunate to be involved in the St. Agnes Parish community and very
lucky to have had the support and friendship of so many wonderful volunteers in planning
this year’s Auction.
Volunteer-driven efforts, especially as extensive as this, are never easy. Thanks especially
to the past chairs of the Auction, who remain engaged and committed, the challenge of coordinating the event was made far more manageable. Thank you also to our entire team. It obviously goes without saying that we couldn’t have done this alone. Thanks for stepping up,
jumping in, drinking the proverbial Kool-aid, etc. A special thanks to our families who have
been eating take-out every night for a month while we do “auction stuff”. A home-cooked
meal is on the horizon (unless we win the Full Deck Raffle!)
As mentioned elsewhere in the book, we’re also very appreciative of our sponsors, donors, advertisers, teachers, staff, the Holy Name Society, event volunteers, student helpers, bidders,
buyers, family and friends. It is the cumulative support of this entire network that produces
the remarkable results we witness year after year here at St. Agnes.
Our students are the real beneficiaries of your goodwill and generosity. Sure, there is a measurable value to our Parishioners and School Families in the dollars and cents spent on projects. Enhancements directly resulting from the Auction also can be judged in terms of
improved numbers in the classroom, whether grades, test scores or other academic achievements. However, it’s the immeasurable rewards that most benefit our greater community
and specifically our students. The fellowship that this effort cultivates, the confidence it instills, the pride it projects….those are intangible gifts enjoyed by our students who are the
heart and soul of our Parish.
Honestly, the list of what we’ve been able to accomplish on their behalf -- thanks to your kindness and charity -- continues to be very humbling to everyone who’s ever chaired the Auction.
A new Pre-School, a new Science Lab, a new Computer SMART Lab, new SMART Connect,
new Parish and School websites, etc., have all resulted from your overwhelming support.
It is this remarkable list of real results as well as the intangible rewards realized by everyone involved that makes all of our hard work, time spent, stress, and yes, even headaches,
well worth it. It’s also what brings us all back year after year to assist with the planning
effort.
We hope you enjoy tonight’s event. Thanks again from all of us for making your own contributions -- big or small, no matter the level of your involvement or degree of participation -to ensure our continued success.

Live Auction Rules
The live auction will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will continue (with breaks) throughout the evening. Master of ceremonies will set the minimum bid for each item. Raise your bid number to bid on an item. The auctioneer will
acknowledge you. Once the highest bid has been determined, an auction official will ask the winning bidder to
sign an acknowledgement form. The acknowledgement form confirms the bidder number, bidder name and dollar amount. The auction committee reserves the right to repeat a sale in case of dispute. Officials will deliver a
copy of the acknowledgement form to the cashier. Items may be paid for and collected immediately following
the closing of each live auction interval.
Under no circumstances will we split checks. What do we mean? We will not split the cost of an item between 2, 3 or more bidders so that each bidder only pays his/her share of the total cost of an item. This isn’t a
new rule, it’s been in print every year of the auction, but we’re committed to actually enforcing it this year. We
understand people go in together to share certain items like big dinners or sporting events. That’s wonderful,
and we certainly have no problem with it. However, we will only accept one payment from a single bidder for
the total cost of the item (whether by cash, check or credit card). It is an accounting nightmare to do otherwise,
both from an organizational and logistical standpoint. We are very fortunate to have an effective software program to facilitate our bookkeeping processes; however, splitting the total cost of one item between numerous
buyers cannot be accommodated by the software program. We don’t expect our volunteers to have to wrestle
with this either. It’s been the rule every year, but there always seems to be an exception made before the evening
is over. This is simply a heads up that no such exception will be made this year, so please make sure your
buying group knows in advance which one of you will be putting the total cost of a shared item on your invoice.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
Please Note: All donor values are estimates and in many instances may actually be worth more than what is stated.

A Picture is Worth a Senate Seat
Verna Sadock is a famous courtroom sketch artist who's earned an Emmy for an illustrated TV docu
mentary and even acted in several films. Most notably, she's served as a courtroom artist for many
famous cases including the Disbarment of Vice President Agnew and the criminal trials of Mike Tyson,
R Kelly, John Wayne Gacy, Michael Jackson and most recently Rod Blagojevich. These sketches are
one-of-a-kind pieces of art and without cameras in the courtroom are often the only visuals we have
from inside these famous trials. This is your unique chance to own one of her rare originals, a sketch
from inside the first trial of Illinois' disgraced ex-governor featuring Blago himself and his former chief
of staff. This particular sketch also includes some members of the jury. Could one of them be the lone
hold-out who temporarily delayed Blago's trip to prison? The sketch, documenting an important albeit
tragic moment in Illinois history, is signed by Sadock and is sure to escalate exponentially in value.

After leading Illinois to the Rose Bowl after the '07-'08 season, Rashard Mendenhall was selected in the
first round of the '08 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers After sitting out most of his rookie year with
a fractured shoulder sustained in the team's fourth game, Mendenhall has become the running back the
Steelers had hoped when they took him with the 23rd pick. At Illinois, he rushed for more than 2,500
yards before leaving after his junior year. His quick footwork on the pro field and his penchant for
reliably gaining yards for Pittsburgh have made him a top back on fantasy league rosters. This is an
authentic Reebok 'On the Field' black home jersey signed by Rashard and is #34 of only 34 jerseys. He
has added the rare inscription "2008 #1 pick". Unfortunately, as is this case with every Mendenhall
signature, Rashard's scribbled name isn't nearly as pretty as his moves on the field or the jersey itself.
However, this is the real deal and was available only through Mendenhall's exclusive sports
memorabilia agent. You'll never see another one of these!

Are you “All In”
for our students at St. Agnes?
We need to replace all the desks in 3 classrooms this year.
For only $150 each, you can ensure our students hit the
jackpot when they come back next fall!
Replacing the desks is this year’s Special Auction Project. In past years, you’ve been generous in
helping us raise the additional money necessary for additional SMART™ Boards in every classroom.
This year we need your help in providing something a bit more basic.
However, rather than holding up the auction to ask for as many extra donations as possible, we’re
giving you a chance all night long to sponsor a desk…or two…ten…or even a whole classroom’s
worth…just $150 each.
If you’re one of the ones a wearing flashing Jackpot necklace tonight -- signifying you’ve made your
contribution toward our students’ classroom needs -- everyone will know you’re
All In For Education!
THANK YOU

An Irish Rose
Born in Chicago, Derrick Rose learned the game of basketball from his 3 older brothers. In high school,
he won 2 state championships and was rated by scouts as the top point guard prospect in the country
after graduation. He played for the University of Memphis Tigers and reached the NCAA national
championship game in 2008. Shortly after, Rose declared for the '08 NBA Draft and was selected as the
1st overall pick by his hometown Chicago Bulls. In his first year of professional basketball, Rose was
voted the Rookie of the Year and was selected to the All-Rookie Team. In only his 2nd season, Rose was
selected as an All-Star for the first time for the 2010 NBA All-Star Game. He was also named a starter
for the U.S. Team at the 2010 FIBA World Championships. This isn't just a Rose-signed Bulls jersey,
however. This is an extremely rare, special St. Patrick's Day green Bulls jersey signed by Derrick Rose.
The red Bulls head logo pops off the green fabric just above Rose's name on the back.

A Very Special Thank You
Did you know...
to St. Agnes’ Holy Name Society for their Support of the Auction!!
?
The Holy Name Society here at St. Agnes has donated the refreshments to the Auction every year,
having done so since our first event in 2006? Not only have they donated the actual products
we’re enjoying, but they also have supplied the manpower to serve it every year. They’ve made
the arrangements, done the prep work and do their own tear down and clean up.
Thanks to Holy Name’s generous support of the Auction, we’ve been able to raise even more
money for the Parish and School. And because they provide the bartenders, the Auction Committee can concentrate on other duties and responsibilities.
Obviously they are a very important, very valued partner to us, and we can’t thank them enough
for their dedication and commitment to this effort specifically or to the Parish and School.
WHAT IS THE HOLY NAME SOCIETY?
The St. Agnes Holy Name Society is a membership organization. All men, over 18 years of age,
of the Parish are considered members. The annual dues are only $5.
The Holy Name Society historically has planned and hosted two major annual fundraisers – the
Chilli Supper and the Chicken Dinner. They also support all Parish events, including dances, the
annual summer picnic and of course, the auction. Every year, they bring in old St. Nick for
Breakfast with Santa. In addition, the Holy Name Society is available for special projects at the
special request of Father or the School.
The club has 10 meetings per year, including the Night of Recollection in March and the
Men’s Cookout in June.
HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?
All men, 18 years of age or older, are invited to participate in the Holy Name Society. Holy
Name would love to have you join them for fellowship and fun. If you have more questions or
want to get involved, just talk to one of the following members of the St. Agnes Holy Name
Society (many of whom just happen to be our bartenders this evening):
Larry Johnson, Mike Noonan, Pete Steward, Greg Langdon, Mark Selvaggio, Louis Matsko,
Greg Goetz, Andy Lascody and Jim Ketchum
THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOU DO SPECIFICALLY FOR THE AUCTION…AND

to everyone who supported this year's Kids Auction.
The Kids Auction was started last year to give our students the opportunity to learn
about, participate in and enjoy for themselves the auction process. No money is
required to participate. The kids earn tickets for completing extra assignments,
good deeds, participating in Peacebuilders, etc. They then use these tickets to "bid on"
the many items available to them...deciding whether to place most or all of their
tickets in the raffle box for the one item they want the most, or spreading their
chances of winning by placing their tickets in the raffle boxes of several or many items.
Each student can determine his/her own "bidding" strategy.
A complete list of all the lucky winners and the auction items they won will be included in the
Addendum available the night of the Auction. On behalf of our students, thanks again for
supporting this special auction effort!

Silent Auction Rules
The bidding will begin at 6:00 p.m. (5:30pm for Early Bird guests). All items in the Silent Auction will have bid
sheets affixed to the table near the item. To bid on an item you must include your BID NUMBER and DOLLAR AMOUNT. Successful bidders must meet or exceed the stated minimum raise level. Any bid not increasing by the stated minimum raise level will be disqualified. All items will be sold to the highest bidder who bids
correctly. The closing bid will be highlighted by an auction official and declared the winning bid. Bid sheets
will be collected and delivered to the cashier by an auction official.
If a dispute between two bidders ensues - for which there appears no reasonable resolution after careful consideration of any available facts - the auction chairs reserve the right to resort to one of the following methods for
determining a winner: a coin flip or a random card drawing. Bidders, by participating in the auction and placing
bids, expressly agree to abide by these rules. All disputes will be resolved on the night of the auction. Decisions
of the auction chairs are final.
HOW DOES THE “BUY IT NOW” FEATURE WORK?
On some auction items – chosen randomly – we have added a “Buy It Now” feature. “Buy It Now” works exactly as it sounds. If you choose to bid the “Buy It Now” amount, you win the item right then, and the auction for that item ends immediately. It is a way to buy something that you know you really want without
having to participate in a protracted bidding process. However, even if an item includes a “But It Now” element,
bidders do NOT have to use the “Buy It Now” feature to bid on the item if they’d rather take their chances on
the outcome of the bidding process. But if in the meantime someone else uses the “Buy It Now” feature, even
though you’ve been bidding on the item against them or others, the auction ends immediately and the bidder
who just used the “Buy It Now” feature instantly is the winner of the item. The items where the “Buy It Now”
feature has been added will be clearly marked for your convenience. If you use the “Buy It Now” feature to
purchase an item, please notify a room monitor ASAP so they can take the appropriate action. Please do
not remove the bid sheets or the auction item without permission from the room monitor.

Stars & Stripes of a Different Cub Color
This is a game-used Cubs hat signed by pitcher Ryan Dempster and certified authentic by the Chicago
Cubs Clubhouse Manager. What makes this even more rare is that it is a special cubs red holiday cap
with the Stars & Stripes "C" logo used only on Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day in 2009. In addition to his large autograph on the bill of the cap, Dempster added the inscription "Game Used 09".

Thrill of Victory - Agony of Defeat
The Giants had entered the bottom of the ninth down 4-1. Before Thomson came to bat with one out, the
Giants had scored a run to make it 4-2 and had runners at second and third. Dodgers' manager Charlie
Dressen brought in Ralph Branca to face Thomson. After taking the first pitch for a strike, Thomson
pulled back, took a big cut and connected on the next delivery, a fastball that was high and inside. The
ball was smashed down the left field line just above the 315-foot sign and landed five rows deep in the
stands. Thomson's home run gave the Giants a 5-4 victory over their biggest rival and a trip to the World
Series. Bobby Thomson and Ralph Branca have each signed this rare 8x10 black & white image
portraying both teams' reactions after Thomson crossed home plate. Certified by Steiner Sports.

A Saluki Enshrined
Walt "Clyde" Frazier was named one of the NBA's 50 greatest players of all time and was inducted into
the Naismith Hall of Fame prior to that. However, long before those honors, Frazier already had made
his mark as one of the premier collegiate basketball players in the country. Playing for Southern Illinois
University, where he had accepted an offer to play basketball rather than accept scholarship offers to
play football from many other universities, Frazier became a two-time All-American for the Salukis. In
1967, with Frazier at point guard, SIU won the National Invitational Tournament beating Marquette, a
performance for which Frazier was named tourney MVP. He was the 5th overall pick by the New York
Knicks in that year's draft where he would go on to be a 7-time NBA All Star and an integral part of the
Knicks' 70 and '73 NBA Championship teams. This is an outstanding 8x10 signed/framed action shot of
Clyde the Glide, certified by Steiner Sports.

Birds First, but the Phillies Forever
Nicknamed "Lefty", Steve Carlton pitched from 1965-1988 for six different teams in his career, but it is
his time with the Phillies where he received his greatest acclaim as a professional and won 4 Cy Young
Awards. Carlton has the second most lifetime strikeouts for a lefty pitcher and the second most lifetime
wins for a lefty. He was inducted into Cooperstown in 1994. In perhaps the worst trade in Cardinals'
history, Carlton was traded to the Phillies in 1972 for a pitcher named Rick Wise. He was traded be
cause of a contract dispute; however, after his MLB rookie debut for the Cardinals in '65, he quickly be
came a dominant pitcher and reached the World Series in '67 and '68. He experienced similar success
with Philadelphia, who honored Carlton by retiring his number 32 and constructing a statue of Lefty
outside their stadium. This is a great signed/framed 8x10 of Carlton, certified by Steiner and MLB.

He Bleeds Cubbie Blue
This Cubs team color logo ball was signed by Randy Hundley, Jr. Hundley played the majority of his
career with the Cubs and was considered their leader in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Hundley was
regarded as one of the best defensive catchers of his era and the best Cubs' catcher since Gabby Hartnett.
Randy has always been a fan favorite!

Howry High Can it Go
Here's a game-used, official Cubs cap worn by Bob Howry, a pitcher with the club in 2010. He also
pitched for the Cubs from 2005-2008. At the time of this writing, Howry is a free agent. He was
originally drafted by the Giants, but was one of six prospects traded to the White Sox in the infamous
White Flag Trade, in which Jerry Reinsdorf sent 3 quality major league pitchers to San Fran at the trade
deadline. The White Sox were still in contention so this controversial move was seen as a premature
surrender even though they received 6 great prospects in return.

S-221 From Bagging Groceries to Bagging a Bust at Canton
Kurt Warner, who would go on to be considered the best undrafted player of all time following his 12year career, is one of the greatest rags-to-riches stories in NFL history. Having been undrafted, Warner
was working at a local grocery store in Iowa at $5.50/hr., when he decided to take a shot at the Arena
Football League. After two years of success on the Iowa Barnstormers, he finally was signed by an NFL
club, but still was considered only a 2nd or 3rd string QB. Then, before the '99 season, the Rams' new
starting QB Trent Green tore his ACL in a preseason game. Warner was elevated to starter and the rest is
history. He went on to win 2 NFL MVP awards in 1999 and 2001, as well as the Super Bowl MVP in
Super Bowl XXXIV. He also led the '08 Arizona Cardinals to Super Bowl XLIII (the franchise's firstever SB berth), and owns the 3 highest single-game passing yardage totals in Super Bowl history.
Warner is ranked among the top QB's all-time in career passing ratings and is a lock for the Pro Football
Hall of Fame in Canton, OH. This very rare Rams jersey, certified by Mounted Memories, features a
large signature and is embroidered with Warner's statistics.

S-222 America's Golden Girl
Hamm played many years as a forward for the US women's national soccer team. She has scored more
international goals in her career than any other player, male or female, in the history of soccer. Hamm
was named the women's FIFA World Player of the Year the first two times that award was given (in 2001
and 2002), and is listed as one of FIFA's 125 best living players. Former Washington Post columnist and
current ESPN commentator Michael Wilbon called Hamm, "Perhaps the most important athlete of the
last 15 years." She retired from the sport in 2004, when she played her last game in the 2004 Fan
Celebration Tour to commemorate the U.S. women's national team's gold medal victory in the 2004
Olympics. In 2007, her first year of eligibility, she was selected for induction into the National Soccer
Hall of Fame by having 137 votes of the 141 ballots cast. The Women's Professional Soccer, a professional soccer league that launched in 2009, features Hamm's silhouette in its logo. Here's your chance to
own a Steiner certified signature of Mia Hamm's on a large 16x20 picture of her celebrating a goal.

S-301 Pure Gold
By the end of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Michael Phelps had put to rest the argument over who is the
greatest American Olympian and perhaps the greatest from any country. By winning eight gold medals
in eight swimming events in Beijing, shattering seven world records in the process, Phelps raised his
haul of career Olympic medals to 16. Fourteen of them are gold. Phelps has dominated his sport like no
other, prompting Mark Spitz - whose record he bested - to say he may "be the greatest athlete of all
time." Recognizing this, Sports Illustrated named Phelps the Sportsman of the Year in '08. Here you
can own a genuine Phelps autograph, certified by the sports memorabilia company with which he works
exclusively, on a 16" x 20" framed cover of that SI.

available on Auction Night...

the Auction Program/Bid Book to the printer.
However, we'll still receive last minute donations which we appreciate. Those will be included in the Addendum, as will any additions to existing items or corrections that need to be made.
In addition, the Addendum will feature a complete list of the restaurants available in the Full Deck Taste of
Springfield Raffle, including the business owner or family who donated each respective gift card.
