The Pastor’s Perspective …
Dear Parishioners,
Next weekend is our Parish Feast Day! I encourage all
parishioners to join us for our Parish Family Mass at
11:30am. Next weekend there will be no music at the
7:30am & 9:30am Masses since we encourage as many
people as possible to attend the 11:30am Family Mass.
After Mass we will process around our campus where
Altars will be set-up at different locations. The Eucharist
will be placed on each of the different Altars and prayers
and/or hymns will be recited/sung. Immediately following
the Procession there will be our Parish Family Picnic. There
will be games and activities for children of all ages. The
Knights of Columbus will be cooking up the chicken,
burgers and hot dogs, but we need more food than that, so
please sign-up to bring a dish or dessert. This is a rain or
shine event so pray for good weather.
Those children who made their 1st Communion this past
year are encouraged to wear their Communion outfit to
Mass and have a special place in the Eucharistic Procession
following Mass.
This year the Family Picnic will also be the farewell party for
myself and Deacon Jack & Barbara Vassallo. This certainly is
a time of sadness as we say goodbye to Corpus Christi.
Although we know in the ways of faith it is never really
goodbye, but rather, until we meet again. We know by faith
that even if we are separated in distance we are still
interconnected as members of the Mystical Body of Christ.
This weekend, on Trinity Sunday, I pray that the Father, Son
and Spirit will abundantly bless those who know, love,
worship and adore the Triune God!

FAITH IN OUR FUTURE
One of the five goals of the Faith in Our Future process is
to make suggestions that will strengthen and enliven the
parishes and diocesan ministries in your area. We can no
longer live with the belief that things are “fine just the way
they are,” when every year Mass attendance falls, fewer
young people participate in parish life, buildings sit empty,
and more Catholics drift away from practicing their faith.
Too often, a parish grows at the expense of its neighbor;
and the challenge of reaching inactive Catholics or sharing
the Gospel with those who seek God goes unattended.
Across the diocese, not just a few, but every parish must
flourish for circumstances to improve.
There won’t ever be enough money, or enough time, for a
small number to do the work that belongs to all of us.
Certainly, more than cooperation on a few programs will
be required. In every parish real progress will mean letting
go of personal preferences and prioritizing our use of
resources. We must be willing to challenge assumptions
about the way things have been done, and choose a new
way forward.
The Lord Jesus calls us to be “an instrument of salvation to
the ends of the earth.” What sacrifices are you willing to
make in order to become a diocese of strong and lively
parishes? What parish models or ministry initiatives will
let the light of Christ reach more people?
