Today . . .
“Jesus the Communicator: Evangelism and the All-New Redeemer Website.” Fr. Wilson will describe the purpose and functionality of the all-new redeemersarasota.org today in the Rector’s
Class. Come and learn about the new site and its important role
in sharing the mission of the parish. Feel free to bring your own
Wi-Fi enabled device to explore the new site during the presentation.
Sign up today in Gillespie Hall after the masses to be a Salvation Army Bell Ringer at Paradise Plaza Publix (3825 S. Osprey
Ave). Church of the Redeemer will need Bell Ringers from the day
after Thanksgiving until Christmas Eve. Thank you Sharon Keen
and Kathy Powers for volunteering to coordinate this ministry.
Bridge to the Word, a small group adult Sunday School class,
meets in Room 207 above Gillespie Hall, 10:10 – 10:40 AM. This
discussion-based class is a wonderful time to meet other parishioners and discuss, on a deeper level, how to live a Christian life
in our contemporary world. We are focusing on a curriculum
called the “Wired Word,” which takes a current issue and explores
how we as Christians might look at it. Join us for discussion and
a relaxing cup of coffee while making new friends. We welcome
visitors and those new to the parish. No preparation necessary!
All Saints’ baptism preparation classes for adults and parents of
children being baptized on 1 November, All Saints’ Day, continue
today, during Christian Education time (10:15-10:40 AM) in the
Halton Chapel.

All who work in medical professions are prayed for on the Feast
of Saint Luke, 18 October. If your profession is medically related

Inquirers’ classes begin this Tuesday, 14 October 2014.
Taught by the Rector, this class is an eight-week presentation
about the uniqueness of the Episcopal Church. Liturgy, history,
rule of life, and other important aspects of living life as a Christian in the Anglican tradition are some of the subjects discussed.
If you intend to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation as an
adult, or to be received into this Communion, this course of instruction is required. Classes will meet on Tuesday evenings,

"The Art of Marriage" - Please join Redeemer couples who will
meet once a week for a six-week conversation to strengthen marriages using "The Art of Marriage" DVD series. Group facilitators

This week at LOGOS we’ll look at Ruth and the “Heroic Faith”
she demonstrated. We’ll see if we can discover a modern-day hero
who demonstrates the same, and talk about what kind of superhero we can be for God. LOGOS is Redeemer’s mid-week event for
children in grades K-5th, 4-6:30, and includes Bible study, playtime, study hall, worship through the arts (choir, art, or Suzuki
prep), and family style themed dinner. Tuition for the year is $100

The Bible study of the Book of Genesis continues on Wednesday. There are two sessions: 10:30 AM-12 noon, and 6:30-8 PM,
meeting on Wednesdays through 19 November.
Our fall Women’s Heart to Heart Bible study, Beth Moore’s
“Children of the Day,” meets on Thursdays through 4 December,
at 9:15 AM in the Upper Room. All women are invited as we walk
through the truth of each verse of 1 and 2 Thessalonians on DVD.

Diabetes Revolution workshop will be held this Thursday, 7-8
PM in the third grade classroom. Mike Hickmott will cover simple
steps to control diabetes through controlling diet, regaining

The first meeting of the Redeemer Alzheimer’s support group
will be on Thursday, 23 October, at 10:00 AM in North Gillespie
Hall. Co-facilitators are Harriet Stieff and Medora Fry.
Women of the parish, “perk” up your morning, with
Fr. Robinson & Linda, on Saturday, 25 October, from 10:00 AM
until noon. Coffee, conversation, and a light brunch will be held at
their residence, located at 1921 Monte Carlo Drive, Unit 701. The

St. Mary's: All women have been invited to the Robinsons' on
Saturday morning, 25 October, (details above). We could still also
go to the Contemporary Service and potluck that day, but might

Future events . . .
The next meeting of the men’s book group, “Books and Beyond,” will be Tuesday evening, 28 October. We will be discussing
a widely acclaimed book by David Fromkin, A Peace to End All
Peace: The Fall of the Ottoman Empire and the Creation of the Modern Middle East. It “reveals how and why the Allies (after the First
World War) drew lines on an empty map that remade the geography and politics of the Middle East” and put it “on the road that
led to the conflicts and confusion that reign to the present day.”
We will convene at 7:15 PM in the Eva Pope Room, where light
refreshments will be served, and will adjourn at 9:00 PM. All are
warmly welcomed; come and bring a friend. For more information,

All Saints’ Day is on Saturday, 1 November. We will celebrate
this feast day with a solemn high mass with baptisms at 10:00
AM. Our eminent guest preacher for this All Saints’ weekend will
be the Right Reverend Michael E. Marshall, Assistant Bishop of
London. He will preach at the 10 AM mass on Saturday and at all
three morning masses on Sunday, 2 November. On Sunday evening he will preach at Solemn Evensong at 5:15 PM. After Evensong there will be a dinner in his honor in Gillespie Hall.
Make your reservations now for the Evensong dinner on Sunday, 2 November, in honor of Bishop Marshall. You can make
your reservations online, using PayPal, cost $8.50, or by calling
the parish office, pay at the door, cost $10.00. Deadline for reservations is Wednesday, 29 October, at 5:00 PM.
Donations . . .
The Caritas food ministry wants your donations. Especially
needed are baked beans, beef stew, canned hams, fruit cocktail,
and saltine crackers. Food donations may be left in the large basket in the narthex. Monetary donations are also welcome. Make

Our EYC is blowing up! We're so proud of the community our students
are building! But it's not just for Episcopalians; invite your friends! Don't

Junior EYC meets this Wednesday night from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM in
1 TD Center (above Gillespie Hall)! One of our students recently asked
the Gamesmaster how his mountain could break down. His response
was a single tear. Then we threw cards into watermelons! This week, Fr.
Robinson will be telling us about the Holy Eucharist so you won't want to
miss it!
Senior EYC meets tonight from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM in Gillespie! Our
senior high community is at a whole new level. Our eats have been spectacular. Our hangage has been crucial. This week we'll talk about God's
only begotten Son in our talk series based on John 3:16. Pretty great
stuff, and you should join us if you haven't made it over yet!

Episcopal Thrift House . . .
How many of you have volunteered as staff, paid a visit, or
donated something to your Episcopal Thrift House in the past few
months? Very good—thank you; you may skip to the next news
item. For those of you who have not recently—or even never
(gasp!) involved yourself with this amazing, dynamic, full-time
ministry, we encourage you to take your place. We, the volunteers
of the Thrift House, seek to welcome newcomers (and prodigal
supporters) in every capacity: as givers, shoppers, volunteers, and
pray-ers. We, the all-volunteer staff, are grateful for, and continuously humbled by, the excellent support of this parish and we beg
you for more of the same. We are at your service on weekdays
from 10-4 and on Saturdays from 10-1 on the corner of Second
and Lemon in beautiful downtown Sarasota. Welcome would-be
volunteers are encouraged to call Pat Tate at 941-387-6016, to
schedule a convenient time to participate.

The BMO Harris Bank parking garage is available for church parking on Sundays
until 1:00 PM. The garage is locked at that time, and any cars left inside will be
locked in.
The nursery for infants and toddlers is available during the 9 and 11 AM masses
every Sunday.
Those persons who find it difficult to come to the altar to receive Holy Communion
are asked to inform one of the ushers, who will then see that Communion is
brought to your pew.
If you have fami
family members in the active military please call the parish office to
have them put on our prayer list.
Listening devices for the hearinghearing-impaired may be obtained from an usher. The
Hard of Hearing Assistance System operates on a frequency of 72.9 for those whose
hearing aids have the capability to pick it up. For those who have a T-Coil receiver
in their hearing aid, Redeemer has an Induction Loop system installed. Personal
earbuds may be purchased in the parish office.

GlutenGluten-free communion wafers are available: Sundays, 7:30 AM Mass – high altar;
9:00 and 11:00 AM Masses – chapel altar. Indicate your need to the priest administering the host.
