As the holiday season draws nearer, I am continually reminded of the kindness, caring, support and generosity
Family Development Center has received from so many
of you during the past year. Our outcomes would not be
possible without your gifts of time, talents and resources. I am grateful for
the many ways you helped to nurture and
strengthen the children, families, and staff
members at FDC.
So many people reach out to our families. Some donate used clothing or household supplies, others sign
up to shop at the holidays and some give the gift of their time. Each year people of all ages go through
the screening process to become a classroom volunteer. Each volunteer, no matter how much time they
give, impacts the life, the potential and the well-being of our children. We thank you all from the bottom
of our hearts and hope you know the power of your gift.

Through your many wonderful contributions
we are able to strengthen the foundation of
our agency and its mission. A strong foundation provides momentum that is critical to
keeping children safe and strengthening
families. This has been an exciting year of growth and inspiration at the
Family Development Center. This past year 389 children, 400 adults and
276 families have benefited from your contributions through our program.
Our program is all about positive change, and change of any sort requires
strength of character and courage. Strength is the cornerstone of character, and the prevailing quality that sees us through the toughest of times.
Courage brings with it the ability to try again, and again. I am continually
amazed by the strength and courage I see within our families during these
challenging times. Parents are working diligently to overcome stress and to
develop a strong, positive bond with their children. Parents at FDC are
strengthening their capacity to nurture, soothe, play, sing and read to their
children. This, in turn, is helping them to be more attentive and to be consistent in their care giving. Caring, nurturing relationships provide a basis
for healthy physical, emotional, intellectual and social development, in
young children and adults. Through your generosity we watch families heal
and grow. Through small baby steps or by leaps and bounds great changes
are taking place. Thank you for helping to make many small miracles possible. You make the difference!
We are able to serve the families who need assistance through the generous and consistent philanthropic support of individuals and businesses in
our communities. Your generosity truly does
change lives. Thank you very much for caring so
deeply about the well being of the children in our
sphere of possible and positive change.

Our South County Satellite
is Now Open
We are very excited to announce that Family
Development Center recently opened a new
satellite site on the Myrtle Creek Elementary
School campus. This collaboration with the
South Umpqua School District makes it possible for 21 additional children to receive
services through the Therapeutic Early Childhood Program. We are currently serving
toddlers and preschoolers at the new site.
South County infants are being served
through our home based visitation program.
