EASTER SUNDAY – APRIL 5
“Do not be afraid”. Jesus’ words to the women at the tomb
summarize Easter perfectly! Because Jesus rose from the dead
and affirmed all of Scripture and all that he taught, we never need
to be afraid again. Do not be afraid of death because Jesus
conquered death for himself and all who believe in Him. Do not
be afraid of sin, because Jesus died for repentance and
forgiveness of sin. Do not be afraid of doing the wrong things,
because Jesus taught us to do the right things by loving and
serving. Do not be afraid of being left alone because the Father
and the Son demonstrated on Good Friday and Easter that they
will never abandon us. Do not be afraid of anything in human
nature because we are children of God, and His Holy Spirit leads
us above and beyond our human nature. Do not be afraid. Ever
again. Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

CRS RICE BOWL Hungering for Celebration—We prayed,
fasted and gave alms – and now we celebrate! Our Lenten
journey with CRS Rice Bowl ends in our own hearts, where Jesus
reigns forever. Let us rejoice in our Risen Lord, and in the lives
we’ve changed in Tanzania, Nicaragua, Niger, the Dominican
Republic of Congo and all over the world as well as in our own
country. We thank you for participating in CRS Rice Bowl and
for your sacrifice in helping others.
PRAYER: Loving God, You call us to be good stewards of
creation and of all the gifts you have blessed us with. As we end
our Lenten journey, walking with our sisters and brothers around
the world who are hungry and in need, we pray that these, our
Lenten sacrifices, may be an offering of solidarity and a promise
of continued work on behalf of all poor and vulnerable people
everywhere. We ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN.
EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD

Thomas parishioners, who have students in our parish school and/
or at one of our area Catholic high schools, can have St. Thomas
sponsor the student. Sponsorship is determined by participating

NEW BIBLE STUDY BEGINNING—On Wednesday, April
29th from 7 to 8:30 p.m., St. Mary's in Westfield will be
beginning a 7 week study of the Epistle to the Hebrews. Hebrews
is more like a sermon than a letter. It reviews the history of Israel
to demonstrate how Jesus Christ fulfills and even surpasses all the
hopes expressed in the Old Testament. It presents Jesus as the
unique High Priest who is simultaneously the one who offers
sacrifice to God and is himself the sacrifice. Those who receive
this sermon/letter are reminded of the great heroes of faith found
in the Old Testament and are urged to imitate their faithful
endurance. All, whatever the level of Bible knowledge, are
invited to attend this study, Please call Joanne at the Office of
Religious Education, 562-5484, to register or with any questions
by April 17th so that books can be ordered.
