O evento “Women´s Voices/Vozes de Mulheres” é uma iniciativa que surge
dentro do espírito do Dia Internacional da Mulher, anualmente celebrado no dia
8 de março. Este evento dará destaque a dois espetáculos bem distintos: Linda
Scanlon (música tradicional irlandesa) e Voces de Mujeres Flamencas (flamenco).
“Women´s Voices/Vozes de Mulheres” is an initiative which is part of the International
Women’s Day, annually celebrated on the 8th of March. This event’s highlights are two
very different shows: Linda Scanlon (traditional Irish music) and “Voces de Mujeres
Flamencas” (flamenco).

“Começar a Acabar” é um trabalho dramatúrgico surpreendente
elaborado por Samuel Beckett que revisita os momentos mais
significativos da sua obra. Para João Lagarto, “Começar a Acabar” é,
antes de mais, um profundo ato de amizade entre dois irlandeses
proeminentes: o dramaturgo Samuel Beckett e o ator Jack
Macgowran.
Celebração da errância temática e da confessionalidade que habitam
a obra do autor, “Começar a Acabar” é a desconcertante confirmação
da máxima beckettiana: “ Não há nada no mundo mais cómico do que
a infelicidade.”
“Begin to End” is a surprising play by Samuel Becket which revisits one
of the most significant moments of his work. For the actor João Lagarto,
“Begin to End” is, first and foremost, a profound act of friendship between
two proeminent Irishmen: the playwright Samuel Beckett and the actor Jack
MacGowran.
A celebration of erratic themes and confessionality that live in the work of this
author, “Begin to End“ is a disconcerting confirmation of Beckett’s aphorism:
“Nothing is funnier than unhappiness.”

Jorge Pé-Curto nasceu em 1955, em Moura. Vive em Almada desde 1965. Começou
a frequentar, desde os dez anos de idade, o Centro Artístico Infantil, no Castelo
de S. Jorge, de que era mentor o pintor Hermano Baptista. Mais tarde cursou
escultura na Escola António Arroio como bolseiro da Fundação Gulbenkian. Em
1981, juntamente com outros artistas, fundou em Almada, a IMARGEM, projeto
que, entretanto, viria a abandonar. Foi professor do ensino oficial durante 17
anos. Como artista plástico Jorge Pé-Curto desenvolveu atividade na cerâmica,
pintura, cartaz e gravura, mas seria na escultura, nomeadamente na pedra, que
viria a centrar o seu trabalho. Coletivamente, Jorge Pé-Curto participou desde
1972 em diversas exposições em galerias, instituições várias, espaços comerciais
e mostras escultóricas ao ar livre. Desde 1984 expõe individualmente. Da sua
autoria são diversos monumentos, situados em várias regiões do país.
Jorge Pé-Curto was born in Moura in 1955. He lives in Almada since 1965. He attended
the Children’s Artistic Centre in S. Jorge’s Castle, since he was ten years old, mentored
by the artist Hermano Baptista. He later completed a sculpture course at the António
Arroio School with a Gulbenkian Foundation scholarships. In 1981, together with other
artists, he founded IMARGEM in Almada, a project which he later abandoned. He taught
for 17 years in state schools. Although Jorge Pé-Curto worked with ceramics, painting,
and engraving, stones sculptures were his main focus. Since 1972 Jorge Pé-Curto has
participated in several collective exhibitions in galleries, institutions, commercial venues
and sculpture showcases. He has presented his work individually since 1984. He has
created several monuments placed in various regions of Portugal.

Confraria dos Enófilos e Gastronómica

Um espaço onde vão estar reunidos mais de meia centena de artesãos com
uma montra representativa de produtos genuinamente algarvios: artesanato,
doçaria, gastronomia e vinhos, folclore, entre outros. Neste certame, podem,
ainda, ser degustados os melhores sabores regionais na área das tasquinhas
onde serão servidos petiscos tradicionais, bem como realizadas demonstrações
culinárias. A pequenada também não foi esquecida com uma área específica e
brincadeiras de outros tempos.
An event where more than 50 artesans with genuinely Algarvian products will display
art and crafts, confectioneries, traditional cuisine and wines, folklore, and much more.
The best regional flavours can be savoured in small bars serving traditional snacks and
showing their culinary skills. The little ones haven’t been forgotton and there will be a
playground with games from a bygone era.

Tradição de maior relevo em São Brás de Alportel, a Festa das Tochas Floridas,
no domingo de Páscoa, é um momento alto da vida da comunidade. O dia da
ressurreição é festejado com uma procissão de flores, que adornam tochas
empunhadas por homens que cantam em coro o refrão “Ressuscitou como disse!
Aleluia! Aleluia! Aleluia!”.
The Flower Torches Festival, on Easter Sunday, is one of the most important traditions
in São Brás de Alportel. It is a highlight in the life of this community. Ressurection day is
celebrated with a procession with flowers that decorate torches carried by men singing “He
Ressurected! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!”.

Para além de um extenso programa religioso, o ponto alto da Festa é o
desfile pela cidade e a subida final ao santuário onde milhares de pessoas
acompanham a procissão.
The biggest religious festival of the South held in Loulé in a large display of faith
that annually attracts believers and tourists to the city. In addition to an extensive
religious program, the highlight of the festival is the parade through the city and
the final ascent to the shrine where thousands of people watched the procession.
