It’s a great time to reflect as another year comes to a close. If you missed the November meeting, please know that your Elburn Lions Club added some comfort to those in need. We approved a donation to the Elburn Friday Night Bingo November saw a continuation of our great attendance at Friday night bingo. December 27th bingo will also include our second annual ugly holiday sweater contest. Come on down! Food Pantry. We also approved the purchase of a Reading Machine for a local resident, and paid for two local children to get eye exams and glasses. For those less fortunate than us in the Philippines, we are sending you money. To a couple of Lions who have served us for so many years, we will be saying thank you soon with Life Memberships. And for the senior members in our club, we will begin offering discounted memberships in 2014. Thank you to all who have served— Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! - Lion President Dave Broz Free Community Pasta Dinner—Dec. 17th Stop down for a great meal and camaraderie on December 17th. Doors open at 5:00pm. Donations welcome but not required. We hope to see you there! Tornado Relief Fund On November 17th, thousands of families right here in Illinois lost everything to the tornadoes and storms that ripped through Central Illinois. They lost their homes, their cars, all of their personal possessions, and some lost their lives. The town of Washington, IL is a rural town just like our Elburn, and it was completely devastated. Our Lions Club District has asked all fellow Lions to pitch in and help these people. They are asking for monetary donations at this time. Our goal is to raise $5,000 by December 8th. Please consider making a donation to this cause. Checks can be made out to Elburn Lions Club and sent to the park, marked “Tornado Relied Fund.” For more information, contact Lions Linda Callaghan, Kristen Damolaris, or Cindy Halsey. Page 1 Holiday Meat Raffle We had great turnout at our annual Holiday Meat Raffle. We would like to thank the following organizations for their donations: Advanced Physical Medicine, Amazing Grace Antiques, Costco, Dairy Queen—Wasco, Eddie Gaedel’s Pub and Grill, Elburn Lions Club, Focas Hair Salon, Dr. Krauspe, The Lodge, Lumes Pancake House, Paisano’s Pizza, Pamper Nails, and Shady Hill Gardens. —————————————— December Meeting Do you have a holiday sweater that would make Kris Kringle cringe? We’d love to see it at the December Lions Club meeting, Tuesday, December 10th. The meeting starts at 7:00pm, however, holiday-themed attire is required! Wear a holiday-themed article of clothing, or be prepared to make a donation to Lion Tamer Lara Poust. Lion Lara will emcee an Ugly Holiday sweater contest, with a prize going to the sweater that makes Comet vomit. —————————————— Dec. 19th — Family Friendly Potluck Dinner Looking for something to do on a Thursday night?
