we live our mission. Jesus is explicit in the mission of His Church founded on the rock of Peter in Matthew 28. We summarize this mission into two key components: evangelization and hospitality. Evangelization is the process of sharing the Good News of Jesus with others. To do this, we are asked to invest in relationships that we already have—family, friends, co-‐workers, classmates, teammates—by praying for these people and sharing with them aspects of our relationship with Christ. Then we repeatedly invite them to experience the power and presence of Christ through prayer, through the Bible and through Sunday Mass. Hospitality then becomes vital to our community life. Hospitality is making another person feel at home. The danger for us to is think all we have to do is say “hello” or “welcome.” Yet we all know that making another feel at home takes more than a few words—it takes us preparing a warm, inviting space for them. It takes us looking through the eyes of a new comer and how they are received not only at the doors but in the pews. Evangelization and hospitality are the two key components our mission if we are going to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them …and teaching them to observe all that [the Lord Jesus] has commanded us to do.

Myth: Immigrants take jobs from native-‐born U.S. citizens. Fact: Immigrants create new jobs, and complement the skills of the preexisting U.S. native-‐born work force. Generally, immigrants do not compete for jobs with the U.S. native-‐born work force. Rather, they tend to have skills at different ends of the spectrum that complement the work force creating jobs for both low and high skilled employees.
