Alumni Highlight: Mr. Richard Bohne
Class of 1972
Mr. Rick Bohne is a 1972 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. He later
attended the University of Dayton where he earned his B.A. in History in 1976
and his MST in 1981.
Rick began his teaching career in 1978 at Edison Jr. High in Niles. He then moved on
to Summit Country Day and later, Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati
where he still teaches Senior Religion Classes and Humanities. At Archbishop
Moeller, Rick has been an integral part of the learning community, serving as the
Religion Department Chairman, Graduation Moderator and the Moeller Faculty
Administrative Representative. His work in the classroom has been recognized
with numerous awards including the 2009 Marianist Heritage Teaching Award and the 2013 Marianist Founders
Day Award. This is the highest award given at Marianist schools.
His exemplary work in the classroom is mirrored by his work as a coach. Rick’s coaching career began 38 years ago
at Washington Jr. High in Niles, where he served as the Freshman Basketball Coach. From 1979-1985 he coached the
8th Grade Soccer and Basketball teams and served as the Varsity Basketball Assistant at Summit Country Day School.
When Rick began at Archbishop Moeller, he took on a number of different coaching positions; from 1985-1989 he
was the Freshman Basketball/Varsity Assistant and the 1987 Freshman Baseball Coach. He began a storied career
as the Golf Coach in 1987 and still serves as the Varsity Coach today. Coaching honors in this position include
being the 9-time Cincinnati Golf Coach of the Year, 11-time GCL Golf Coach of the Year, 1999 District 2 National
Coach of the Year (NAISC), a 2004 Inductee of Ohio High School Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame and a 2006
Inductee of Moeller High School Hall of Fame. The successes he has led his teams to are numerous; 7 Cincinnati
Enquirer City Champions, 17 Sectional Champions and 2 District Champions. 15 of his teams have qualified for
the State Golf Tournament, teams in 2004 and 2007 were State Runners-Up and his 2014 team were State Champions.
Standout athletes include Neil Lykins 1998 State Champion, Andrew Dorn 2009 State Runner-up and Jake Fox
2015 State Runner-up. Rick has coached 9 All-State Players and 30 College Scholarship Players.
Rick and his wife Janet (Cipriano) married on June 7, 1980. They have two children; daughter Jessica, married to
John on May 17, 2014 and a son, Steven. The Kennedy Family celebrates the excellence that Rick has demonstrated
in his teaching and coaching career and is proud to share with our alumni and friends.

also make a positive community impact through
the filmmaking process. She recently co-produced
the feature Coming Through The Rye, with Chris
Cooper playing legendary J.D Salinger and Wish
You Well, based on the novel by New York Times
best-selling author David Baldacci starring Ellen
Burstyn, Josh Lucas and Mackenzie Foy. She is
currently in development on several films including
Shoeless Wonders, an inspirational sports drama inspired
by real events and Widows Walk, based on a novel set in
Key West. In 2010, Sara Elizabeth was inducted into the
Opportunity Hall of Fame for her contribution through
filmmaking to economic development in Virginia and is a
qualified independent producer for NBC Universal/IFTA.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Xavier
University and relocated to Los Angeles to follow
her passion. She also worked as a motivational
speaker professionally for 10 years.

Family Life: I have been married to Brett for almost 7
years and we are the proud parents of Izzy, who is 3 and
keeps us extremely busy. I am fortunate to be able to
stay home with her and volunteer at her school when
I am able. I love being a stay at home mom and look
forward everything that is yet to come. It goes by so
fast. I am close to my parents and siblings too which
makes raising Izzy all the more fun!

Travels: Recently, we took Izzy to Disneyworld for the
Christmas Parade- although it was exhausting, it was
truly amazing to see this through the eyes of a child!
How quickly I forgot!
Greatest Achievement: I am most proud of my
daughter Izzy and what a smart, funny and talented
young girl she is. Being a mom is the most humbling
experience ever as well as one of the most difficult. I
have never felt so much reward than I do at the end of
each day with her.
Which Eagles have you kept in touch with: Thanks to
social media, I have kept in touch with many classmates
and remain close with most friends from high school
both in my graduating class and from others.
Favorite Kennedy Memory: My favorite Kennedy
memory would be the closeness that I felt while
attending school there. It really was a close knit
community and I learned so much from my peers,
teachers, coaches, etc. I am proud to be an Eagle and
am grateful for the opportunities I have received as a
result of attending school there.

Professional Information/Favorite Hobbies:
Marketing Manager 1 for Cleveland Clinic. Working
on the Cleveland Clinic Children’s business. Prior to
this, worked on the Heart & Vascular Institute, which
has been ranked the #1 Heart Center in the nation by
U.S. News and World Report for 21 consecutive years.
In my spare time I take Italian lessons. I’m also big into
fitness and am a Beachbody coach. I also enjoy dancing,
swimming, bowling, pool, biking, concerts, movies,
traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Travels: I had the opportunity to travel to various
U.S. cities when I worked in Advertising including
Charlotte, Raleigh, Birmingham, New Orleans,
Savannah, Charleston, Pensacola, Boca Raton,
Newport Beach, Dallas, Chicago, and Minneapolis.
My goal is to get back to Italy to visit my family
and also to see Hawaii one day!
Greatest Achievement: I’m proud that I’m an
independent woman who’s been able to establish
my career, buy my own home and make a life for
myself without having to rely on anyone else.

catch up with thanks to Facebook!
Favorite Kennedy Memory: Being cast as one of the
lead roles in our production of Grease. I had a blast
being Jan, one of the pink ladies in that play and will
never forgot the wonderful memories we made with
that production!
