Google Search returns 185 million results for “people make the difference.” Many of the top results are lists of motivational quotes and blogs on business websites. Perhaps it’s this abundance of information that produces audience members who zone out and drool with boredom and cynicism whenever the topic of employee motivation is mentioned. Or, in a bizarre manifestation of irony, maybe it’s the method in which supposedly motivational material is introduced that creates indifference among the masses. At any rate, when an organization as successful as MPW Industrial Services has a list of legitimate success stories and awards, how does the company communicate these stories in a way that avoids trivializing the accomplishments or getting lost in the Sea of Motivational Jargon? Christina Anderson, a primary quality inspector, helped prevent a serious quality issue for MPW’s customer in East Liberty, Ohio. Health and Safety Supervisor Cory Hanna recieves MPW Industrial Services’ 2013 Safety Professional of the Year Award. In reality, a prosperous business tells these significant stories by means that do not involve a patronizing voice, an overhead projector, or some guy who wants to sell you the 12 Secret Steps to Business Success for only $49.95. major issue during a routine check, which prevented a serious quality issue for MPW’s customer. Their consistent, exemplary efforts are a testament to the culture of safety, efficiency and customer-service excellence that fuels every ounce of this company’s success. INDUSTRIAL SERVICES MPW offering paid CDL training program to its employees MPW Industrial Services is all about offering solutions — not just for its clients, but for its employees as well. Since many MPW employees are looking for opportunities to grow within the company, and the company needs qualified commercial drivers, this particular solution was practically selfevident. then report to an MPW-approved clinic for a DOT physical, study the first four sections of the packet, obtain the CDL permit through their local BMV, and schedule Hands-On Training with Corporate DOT. MPW corporate training lasts two weeks (weekdays only) for a minimum of eight hours per day. MPW’s DOT Trainers Aaron Thompson and Fred Reed have updated the program and formalized a process and curriculum to help employees obtain their Commercial Driver’s License [CDL]. John Schouster previously organized CDL training before being named Chief Security Officer in February. The training will cover the following: • Pre-Trip Inspections • Backing Skills • On-the-Road Driving Skills • Hours of Service/Logbooks The program will train internal candidates in order to reduce hiring costs, lower turnover rates, and increase productivity. MPW expects applicants who complete this program to continue their employment with the company for at least one year after passing the CDL Skills Test. MPW will cover the costs associated with the training as long as the employee makes a commitment to continue working for MPW. After candidates complete the Hands-On Training, Corporate DOT will schedule the CDL Skills Test with a local BMV (outof-state employee) or Roadmaster in Columbus, Ohio (in-state employee). Corporate DOT will provide candidates with training packets upon request from the candidate’s manager.
