November Newsletter Waskada School http://schools.shmb.ca/wci/T: 1-866-422-5117 MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL I hope that your October has been pleasant at your home and place of work. Mine has been good. October started off with the Terry Fox Run, which was to have been on September 30th, but a bolt of lightning changed that. $1105.00 was raised by Waskada students for the Terry Fox Run and a good time was had by all as we walked through the town to the golf course and then back to the school. The snacks afterwards were a great way to end the day. The Turkey dinner the day before the long weekend was a great success as well. Everyone remembered to bring their supplies, and a great feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, vegetables, and of course yummy desserts was had by the staff and students at Waskada School. A lot of thanks need to be extended to Mrs. May and her parent volunteers, as well as the students of Waskada School for helping in the preparation of the food, set up of the lunch room, and clean up. Important Dates Important Reminders There is no parking in front of the school between 8:00am and 4:00pm. Student should not arrive at the school before 8:40am. Please remember to send cutlery with your child if needed. Do not pass the school buses when their stop signs are out/lights flashing and they are loading or unloading passengers. Vehicles are asked to back into their parking spots for safety reasons. Please make sure your child is dressed in winter clothing for recess as it is getting colder, jacket, toque, mitts, winter boots. The social justice group in Waskada School is excited about heading to WE Day in Winnipeg on Nov.15 &16, where they will volunteer their time helping others less fortunate before participating in the big event at the MTS Centre. Locally, the social Justice group has been collecting food for donationsfor “Scare Away Hunger”. For every non- perishable food item they bring, students are allowed to wear their hat for the day. This has been going on since the middle of October, and quite an impressive pile of food has been collected.
