Dear Families and Friends of St. Margaret Mary,
The dust of the tomb has settled, and the world has changed forever. The old creation has been redeemed and renewed by the Resurrection of Jesus from the Dead.
Moreover, the God who raised Jesus will raise up our mortal bodies as well. For
those who have faith, the days after Easter Sunday are full of light and consolation.
We are meant to truly enjoy them, as they are a
font of joy in our Christian lives.
Him in the works of mercy He inspires us to
perform in His name.
Jesus remained with the disciples for forty
days until His Ascension into heaven in order
to calm their fears, help them trust, and bring
them His Peace and healing. This is our experience as well. Sacred Scripture recounts the
many encounters with the living resurrected
Christ. As the psalmist says, “Taste and see the
goodness of the Lord.” And so we are meant to
savor the special taste of these special days
during the Easter Season. We are supposed to
chew and digest, if you will, the mystery we are
living as we return to our usual tasks.
As an example, I would like to share two beautiful Resurrection experiences I had recently. Exhausted after the Masses of Easter, I was called
to attend a young woman who was near death in
the hospital. Trembling with fear, she could not
believe God loved her. But there, by her bedside, the Risen Lord revealed Himself, and
speaking words of love to her heart, He broke
down her self-loathing so that she finally surrendered to her loving Father, who had embraced his beloved daughter in eternal life. Her
smile was as bright as the rising sun on Easter
Sunday.
Jesus told the Holy Women to tell His disciples
that they would see Him in Galilee, that is,
along the way of their daily life. We are not
meant to stay by the tomb, weeping, or to keep
looking for Him in the empty tomb. Henceforth, we find life and meaning only in the Risen Jesus. When we encounter Him we will not
always recognize Him, as with Mary Magdalene in the garden or the two disciples on the
way to Emmaus. No, from now on, He will approach us, even as we search for Him. We will
recognize Him in the Word, the Eucharist and
in the poor. He will open the meaning of the
Scriptures for us and our hearts will burn within us. We will meet Him in the Breaking of the
Bread, the Mass, wherein He gives us His very
self to nourish and strengthen us. We will meet
Two days later, administering the last rites to an
elderly woman who was unconscious and paralyzed from a major stroke—to the wonder of her
family gathered round—she opened her eyes
and smiled sweetly. She recognized the voice of
Jesus speaking words of hope to her.
Yes, our experience of Holy Week has made us
all witnesses of His New Life—and we must
share it. From our Galilee, we go forth to share
the joy of meeting our Savior along the way.

Estimados Amigos y Familias de Santa Margarita María,
El polvo de la tumba se ha asentado, y el mundo ha cambiado para siempre. La antigua creación ha sido redimida y renovada por la Resurrección de Jesús de entre los
muertos. Por otra parte, el Dios que resucito a Jesús tan bien resucitará nuestros
cuerpos mortales. Para aquellos que tienen fe, los días después del Domingo de Pascua están llenos de luz y consuelo. Estamos destinados para disfrutar realmente de
ellos, ya que son una Fuente de alegría en nuestra vida Cristiana.
Jesús permaneció con los discípulos por cuarenta días hasta su Ascensión al cielo con el fin
de calmar sus temores, ayudarlos a confiar, y
traerles su paz y sanación. Esta es nuestra experiencia también. La Sagrada Escritura narra
la infinidad de encuentros con Cristo resucitado.
Como dice el salmista, “Prueben y vean
que bueno es el Señor.” Y así se supone que
debemos saborear el sabor especial de esos
días especiales durante la temporada de Pascua. Se supone que debemos masticar y digerir, si quieres, el misterio que estamos viviendo
mientras regresamos a nuestras tareas habituales. Jesús les dijo a las santas mujeres que
les dijeran a sus discípulos que los vería en Galilea, es decir, a lo largo del camino de su vida
diaria. No estamos destinados para estar en la
tumba, llorando o buscándolo en la tumba vacía. De ahora en adelante, nos encontraremos
con la vida y el significado solo en Jesús resucitado. Cuando lo encontramos no siempre lo
reconoceremos, al igual que María Magdalena
en el jardín o los dos discípulos en el camino a
Emaús. No, de ahora en adelante, El se aproximará a nosotros, incluso cuando lo busquemos. Lo reconoceremos en la Palabra, la Eucaristía y en los pobres. El nos abrirá el significado de las Escrituras y nuestros corazones arderán dentro de nosotros. Nos reuniremos en la
Fracción del Pan, la Misa, cuando se nos da
para nutrirnos y fortalecernos. Nos reunire-
mos en los trabajos de misericordia que nos
inspira para hacerlos en su nombre. Como un
ejemplo, me gustaría compartir dos Hermosa
experiencias de la Resurrección que recientemente tuve. Cansado después de las misas de
Pascua, fui llamado para atender a una joven
que estaba en el hospital cerca de la muerte.
Temblando de miedo, no podía creer que Dios
la amaba. Pero allí, junto a su cama, el Señor
Resucitado se reveló, y le hablo palabras de
amor a su corazón, lo partió por su odio a sí
misma y finalmente se rindió a su amado Padre, que estaba abrazado a su querida hija en
la vida eterna. Su sonrisa era tan brillante como el sol naciente del Domingo de Pascua.
Dos días después, administré la extremaunción a una anciana que estaba inconsciente y
paralizada por un fuerte derrame cerebral—la
maravillosa familia se reunió a su alrededor—
ella abrió sus ojos y sonrió dulcemente. Ella
reconoció la voz de Jesús diciéndole palabras
de esperanza. Si, nuestra experiencia de la Semana Santa nos ha hecho testigos todos de su
Nueva Vida—y debemos compartirla—. Desde
nuestra Galilea vamos a compartir la alegría
del encuentro con nuestro Salvador en el camino. Con oraciones, Padre Paul.

Treasures From Our Tradition
"Mystagogy," reflection on the Easter mysteries, is the chief task of these great fifty days, a
"pentecost," in other words, of grace and renewal. Every Sunday we have accounts of Resurrection appearances of the Lord, and sketches of the earliest efforts at being church.
Lent is described as a journey to the font, and Easter may be described in similar terms, since at
the very beginning an angel tells the apostles that the Risen Lord "has gone before you into Galilee." Galilee, of course, was the place where Jesus did his finest work, his preaching, his healing,
his gathering the lost and the marginalized to the table. At Easter, we hurry to catch up, putting
our renewed baptismal promises to work in our own personal Galilees, our little worlds waiting
for a word of grace, a healing, an act of pardon, an invitation to share a meal. The water often
splashed on our Sunday assemblies in Eastertide reminds us: these are the golden, shining days
of grace, days to nurture the heart, to speak to one another about things that really matter.

CATECHISTS NEEDED
Do you want to help empower young people to live as disciples of
Jesus Christ, helping to foster their personal growth in their
relationship with Jesus, and drawing them to responsible
participation in the life, mission, and work of the faith community?
Our parish Religious Formation program :is seeking faith-filled and enthusiastic people to share the faith
with the young people of our
parish. In order for our programs to be a success we need the ministry of volunteers. We need catechists
who are willing to share their faith with our children as well as those willing to help with the administrative
side of our work.
We would like to have one (1) catechist and one (1) assistant per class. Ask a friend - or your spouse - if
he/she would teach with you! High School students can assist as well. It is not necessary to have a child in
the program. Training and materials will be provided. Classes run from the middle of September to the beginning of May.
Classes are held on the following days:

EL CAMINO HACIA EMAUS

El episodio de estos dos discípulos es una narración
que cada vez que la leemos o escuchamos, nos produce una renovada emoción. Nos llega directamente al corazón: es tan sencilla y tan hermosa. Aunque
reconozca la importancia del texto, la experiencia
de los discípulos que han visto a Cristo resucitado
es absolutamente incomparable.
Los dos discípulos se regresan a su pueblo, con cara triste por lo que había sucedido a Jesús, iban desilusionados en sus esperanzas. Explica por qué al
descocido, que los ha alcanzado y los interroga sobre la discusión que los entretiene. San Lucas ha
mencionado, desde el principio de la narración, que
el desconocido es Jesús. Pero ni Cleofás ni su compañero se dan cuenta: los ojos de los discípulos estaban velados y no lo reconocieron. Obsesionados
por las imágenes de la muerte del profeta en el que
habían creído, no podían ver otra cosa. Sólo una
cosa los sorprende: que el desconocido compartiera
sus sentimientos y no estuviera al tanto.
Se les abrieron los ojos y lo reconocieron
Los dos discípulos habían escuchado a lo largo del
camino a un hombre, que les explicaba aquello que
las Escrituras decían a propósito de Jesús, cuya
muerte los entristecía. Pero cuando en la mesa lo
vieron tomar el pan, pronunciar la bendición, partirlo y dárselo se les abrieron los ojos y lo reconocieron.
Este es el sistema de Jesús en el evangelio. El hablaba para manifestar a los hombres la Buena Nueva de la salvación. Hablaba en el templo, junto al
lago, en el campo y en la montaña, en los caminos
y calles, hablaba con todos, La gente se apiñaba en
multitudes y lo escuchaba, no tanto porque hablaba
cosas maravillosas: lo seguían porque El era bueno,
El curaba a los enfermos, daba pan cuando tenían
hambre: así probaba con sus obras que lo que decía
era verdad. Antes de morir dijo que la mayor prueba de amor es el dar la vida por un amigo, y como
lo dijo, así lo hizo. Por eso el pueblo reconoció que
era realmente el Salvador.
En nuestro tiempo, la historia se repite. Somos también un pueblo de esperanza. Nos llamamos cristianos y anhelamos también un Salvador visible. Los
cristianos o no cristianos, buscamos, tal vez por caminos equivocados, un salvador. Cuando el dinero
y las cosas nos dejan el alma vacía, cuando la miseria y la injusticia humana nos sublevan, cuando los
pequeños salvadores políticos o revolucionarios nos
fallan, volvemos con ansia los ojos hacia un auténtico salvador.
Hay muchos que hablan y se presentan como salvadores: prometen mucho, hablan mucho, pero no vemos las obras Hay políticos que se ganan nuestro
voto, prometiéndonos empleo, reformas migratorias, educación. Pero no vemos obras y nos sentimos frustrados. Hay cristianos que hablan de salvación: se saben la Biblia de memoria y la gritan en
las calles. Pueden llegar a la cabeza, pero no descienden al corazón.
Reflexión
Nosotros podemos empezar a dar el
ejemplo con nuestras obras. En esta misa
está el Señor repartiéndonos el pan.
El se transformó en pan, porque el pan
es el alimento y quería prolongar a
través de los tiempos el gesto de
compartir el pan.

Tesoros de Nuestras Tradiciones
"Mistagogía", la reflexión sobre los misterios de la Pascua, es la tarea principal de estos grandes cincuenta días un "Pentecostés", en otras palabras, de gracia y de renovación. Cada domingo tenemos relatos de las apariciones de la resurrección del Señor, y bocetos de las primeras actividades a ser iglesia.
Cuaresma es descrito como un viaje a la fuente, y la Pascua se puede describir en términos similares, ya
que en el primer momento un ángel le dice a los apóstoles que el Señor Resucitado "ha ido antes que ustedes a Galilea." Galilea, por supuesto, fue el lugar donde Jesús hizo su mejor trabajo, su predicación, su

Nuestro programa de Formación Religiosa de la parroquia: busca personas llenas de fe y entusiasmo para

Necesitamos catequistas que están dispuestos a compartir su fe con nuestros hijos, así como aquellos que están dispuestos a ayudar con la parte administrativa de nuestro trabajo.

ella le enseñaría con usted! Los estudiantes de secundaria pueden ayudar también. No es necesario tener un

Remember, it is an Archdiocesan requirement to have two consecutive years of religious education in order to receive sacraments.
Completed registration forms and fees must be hand delivered to the
RE office. A copy of the Baptismal Certificate must accompany all
NEW registrations. Even if a child was baptized at St. Margaret Mary
Alacoque Parish, a copy of each necessary certificate(s) must be included for all children who are registering for Faith Formation for the
very first time.

ANIMAL STUFFING NIGHT
Our Lady of Fatima Guild creates stuffed animals
and donates them to the Harbor-UCLA Medical
Center Children’s Ward.
Guild members do the sewing, but need lots
of help with the stuffing. They will be hosting
a stuffing night and will need all hands and
hearts to get it done.
