Acng Principal’s News
Dear Parents and guardians
We have had has some delighul Autumn weather but we do
need some rain badly and hopefully over the next few months
the rains will come.
The Parent Forum was not well a!ended but it is important
these opportuni"es are available to parents and guardians to
meet with the leadership team of the school. To those parents
that did take the "meout to a!end and contribute sugges"ons
on how the school can improve I do thank you.
The following sugges"ons were made by the parents in
a!endance. Please note that these are not in any order of
preference:
•
Increasing the size of the school hall and modernising this
facility to create more natural light.
•
Redevelop the school oval using a combina"on of synthe"c and natural grass
•
Line marking re ball games, numbers etc.- Synthe"c grass
and Asphalt areas
•
Dual bicycle track around the asphalt area
•
Basketball Boards and Rings Replaced
•
Sensory based areas a!ached to classroom spaces to engage students who require a break from their classroom
•
Upgrade Kitchen areas in the school and make these areas
more homely
•
Bus Covered Way
•
Re Vamp the Secondary Yard
•
Shade Sails Secondary

Other items that were men"oned for the school to consider were:
•
Aroma Therapist
•
Car Wash Program for the students (Summer Elec"ve)
•
Mul" Media further developed in the school to promote communica"on of the students
•
Students further involved in Community based programs
•
Sex Ed introduced for the Primary and Secondary Years
•
Inclusion programs with local secondary schools re Community Service

Transion and Pathways Expo: Thursday, April 28
This Expo was well represented by Post School Op"on Providers
with fourteen taking the "me to present their organisa"on to
the parents in a!endance. Importantly, many parents took the
"me to come along and find out what is available to their child
when they leave the school which is fantas"c. It is so important
parents do their homework in this area, as there are so many
op"ons now that were not previously available. Please do not
leave this important task to your child’s last year of schooling.
To Dee who coordinated and organised this Expo a big thank
you and to all the staff that a!ended and assisted thank you. I
keep on saying it, we have fantas"c staff and every day they
show that in their work with the students.

Staff Acknowledgment
It gives me great pleasure to acknowledge Madhavi (Neha) Bahia ,one of
our Secondary Year teachers. Neha has done an outstanding job coordina"ng the Secondary Learning Area in Maria’s absent last week.
Neha has a great passion for teaching which is clearly evident with her
bubbly enthusiasm for everything she does. Neha is a master with
Proloquo2go and is a driving force with encouraging staff to communicate
with their students and engage them with their learning.
Giving student’s a voice is so important in capturing their interest.
Have a great weekend and week ahead.

Quý vị Phụ Huynh và Người chăm sóc thân mến
Chúng ta đã có được tiết trời mùa thu thật thú vị tuy nhiên mình thật cần có mưa và hy vọng trong vài tháng tới những
cơn mưa sẽ đến.
Diễn đàn phụ huynh đã không có nhiều người tham dự, nhưng thôi , điều quan trọng là những cơ hội thế này có sẵn
để Quý vị gặp gỡ ban giám hiệu của trường. Đối với những Phụ Huynh đã dành thời gian tham dự và đóng góp ý kiến
về những cách mà nhà trường có thể làm để cải thiện, tôi xin chân thành cảm ơn.
Quý vị Phụ Huynh tham dự đã cho những ý kiến như sau , xin lưu ý , những điều sau đây không có nghĩa là được xếp
theo thứ tự ưu tiên:
Mở rộng kích thước của hội trường và tân trang cơ sở này sao cho có nhiều ánh sáng tự nhiên hơn.
Tái sữa chữa các sân sử dụng hài hòa cỏ thật và cỏ giả
Sơn các đường kẽ dành cho các môn chơi bóng, và các số chẳn hạn ở chổ có cỏ giả và khu vực tráng
nhựa
Đường chạy xe đạp trong khu vực tráng nhựa
Thay mới những chiếc vòng trong sân bóng rỗ
Làm cho những phòng Sensory ( phòng Giác quan) được kết nối với lớp học để tiện lợi cho học sinh nào
cần nghỉ ngơi từ lớp học
Nâng cấp khu nhà bếp của trường làm cho khu vực này thân thiện hơn
Đường bao dành cho xe bus
Nâng cấp sân của khu trung học
Cac Mái che khu trung học

Phát triển thêm phương tiện truyền thông để thúc đẩy kỹ năng giao tiếp của học sinh
Các em học sinh tham gia nhiều hơn những chương trình sinh hoạt cộng đồng
Giáo dục giới tính dành cho tiểu học và trung học
Các chương trình hoà nhập với các trường trung học địa phương về Dịch vụ Cộng đồng
Transion and Pathways Expo ( đêm thông tin về việc chuyển tiếp và các định hướng ): Thứ năm ngày 28 tháng Tư
Cuộc thông tin đã được trình bày chu đáo bởi các nhà cung cấp chọn lựa cho các
em học sinh sau khi ra trường với sự góp mặt trình bày của 14 cơ sở, họ dành
thời gian để giới thiệu về tổ chức của họ với các Phụ Huynh tham dự. Quan trọng
nhất là có nhiều Phụ Huynh đã tranh thủ đến để tìm hiểu về những chọn lựa có
sẵn này để chuẩn bị cho con em họ khi ra trường . Thật tuyệt vời. Thật là thiết
thực nếu như Quý vị thực hiện bài tập này sớm, có rất nhiều những lựa chọn mới
mà trước đây chưa có. Xin đừng để công việc này cho tới năm cuối của con rồi
mới thực hiện. Dành cho cô Dee – người điều phối và sắp xếp chương trình đêm
này một lời cảm ơn thật nhiều, và cũng cảm ơn sự hổ trợ và hiện diện cuả tất cả
nhân viên và phụ huynh. Tôi lại nói nữa về điều này, chúng ta có một đội ngũ
nhân viên tuyệt vời và hàng ngày họ chứng minh điều đó bằng hành động trong
công việc của mình.
Tuyên dương nhân viên
Tôi xin hân hạnh tuyên dương cô Madhavi ( Neha) Bahia, một trong những nhân viên của cấp trung học. Neha đã xuất
sắn hoàn thành việc điều động khối trung học thay thế cho Maria khi vắng mặt vào tuần trước . Neha giảng dạy với
niềm đam mê rất lớn bộc lộ bằng lòng nhiệt tình sôi nỗi trong mọi việc mà cô ấy làm. Cô ấy là một sư phụ trong việc sử
dụng Proloquo2Go và là động lực để khích lệ các nhân viên giao tiếp với học sinh và hoà nhập với các em về việc học
hành
Cho các em một tiếng nói thật vô cùng quan trọng trong việc thu hút sự lưu tâm của các em.

BABY NEWS
What wonderful news we received on Tuesday 26th April that Amy and Kieran welcomed their daughter Mia
Grace into the world.I have spoken to Amy and they are both doing very well!What exci"ng news!! A new
addi"on to the SSDS family.
Congratula"ons Amy and Kieran!
PRINCIPAL INTERNSHIP
This week I have commenced my Principal Internship. This will be a two week placement at Kororoit Creek
PS working alongside the principal Natalie Bakai and the leadership team. I am contactable during this "me
and will be a!ending the SSDS School Council, I will remain connected to the work at SSDS during my
absence.
PARENT FORUMS
Our con"nued focus on developing connec"ons and parent partnerships is so evident across the school. This
week we had the pleasure of hos"ng a parent morning tea with the leadership team. These forums provide
a fantas"c opportunity to connect with families and allow for parent contribu"on. Thank you to the parents
who a!ended and made valuable contribu"ons to our discussion.
Our Burmese community are mee"ng here in the community hub every Friday. It is lovely to pop down and
share a meal with them as a way of building rela"onships. They are contribu"ng to our learning community
by making aprons, sensory bags, kniEng and will be establishing a community garden. This forum also
provides opportuni"es for learning to take place.
Our Transi"on Expo was outstanding. Thank you to Dee for her me"culous coordina"on of this event. Thank
you to all staff who assisted in the setup and pack up and to Sue L for her BBQ skills. Thank you to the
teachers who a!ended the evening. It was wonderful to see so many parents and families a!end,
approximately 40 people in total. This is an important event to connect our families to the post school
service providers and to provide them with as much informa"on as possible to make an informed decision
about the future op"ons and placement of their child.
I look forward to seeing you when I return in two weeks!

TRANSITION & PATHWAYS EXPO
I would like to extend a warm thank you to all the family who a!ended the Parent Informa"on Session
that was held on Thursday 28th April in the staffroom.
We had a wonderful response with 14 Service Providers set up to show case what their servicers had to
offer our student’s that are transi"oning at the end of the year, as well as for those parents who are
preparing for their child who will be coming up for transi"on in the years to come.
It was lovely to see a room full of Parents/ Guardians, Service Providers and staff coming together in
such a warm and welcoming environment.
We also had a Parent from Glenroy Special, pop in as they were unable to make it to their own schools
Expo.
It was pleasing to hear Parents/Guardians comment on how friendly our staff are and the school had
such a lovely feel to it.
I have been on the phone today to many of the Service providers, they also commented on how they
enjoy coming to Sunshine SDS ‘s Expo’s as they have always been made to feel very welcome.
I would like to thank all the staff members who took some part in helping out.

started).

GENEROUS DONATION FROM THE
RENEGADES HOT ROD AND CUSTOM
CLUB
On Sunday 1st May the Renegades Hot Rod and Custom Club held a swap meet and
show “n” shine show at the Werribee Racecourse.
Although the weather wasn’t exactly perfect and dampened everyone’s spirit , the
Club s"ll managed to giR the school with a generous dona"on of $500.00.
A big thank you to the club for their support of our students and school.
