Christian Stewardship
The example Pope Francis has given to the world over the past two years has moved many people to reconsider
their practice of religion. At the heart of religious belief he has pointed out are compassion and mercy. When we
are able to so prioritize, difficult moral issues are more easily approached. His example suggests that good
example can still inspire ordinary people. Moreover, in the person of Pope Francis we can see the possible
impact of the Petrine Ministry on the world stage.

OLMC School - Help Wanted
CHILDREN’S TIME & TALENT
How can you teach children the importance and
the joy of giving? It is impossible to be grateful
and unhappy at the same time. As we count our
blessings we naturally find a sense of peace
and contentment. Children learn that they are
called to give back something to God. They also
learn that they must let go of some of their own
wants. Stewardship teaches children the
difference between needs and wants. Children
learn to concentrate on their blessings rather
than on what they want. The idea of the
children’s envelopes is not to raise more money
but to teach children the joys of giving and
helping. Thus, it is more important that children
give a quarter from their own bank than $5 from
a parent’s wallet. Children’s envelopes also
encourage kids to share talent - a good deed or
a prayer they have written - or to write down
ways they have been good stewards.

PEACE & JUSTICE
American Law from Both Sides:
A Discussion of Perspective
Please join us in welcoming attorney and
parishioner Robert Mancini, who will speak at St.
Mary’s Hall on Monday, February 2nd. Mr. Mancini,
who has served as a deputy district attorney for Bucks
County and is currently a criminal defense lawyer, will
speak about the American Justice system from both
the prosecutorial and the defense points of view.
Attorney Mancini will address a number of
subjects and how they play out on either side of our
legal structure, among them the juvenile justice
system and the death penalty. He will also speak to
the thorny issue of how one reconciles certain legal
work with one’s faith.
The presentation will begin at 7:00PM in St.
Mary’s Hall. The event is sponsored by the Peace and
Justice Ministry; refreshments will be served. For
further information, contact: Fran Lorié 215-489-4039.
