LETTER FROM THE PASTOR
Dear Friends,
Let me begin by thanking Natalie Konieczko and her “team” for the hard work that made last week’s
Polish Dinner a success on multiple levels. As I thank Natalie and the “team,” I wish to thank as well, all of
you who assist the parish as together, we face ongoing financial challenges. Your generosity is always
deeply appreciated.
It’s hard to believe that Holy Week is only a week away. I encourage you to join us for the religious
observances of Holy Week and other religious events that are scheduled in the days and weeks ahead.
This Wednesday, March 16th at 7:00 p.m., the parish will host the premiere of the movie/documentary,
The Original Image of the Divine Mercy. I promise you this will be a spiritually moving event that will give
insight into the iconic image of The Divine Mercy. A replica of the original image not only adorns our
sanctuary, but stands as a beacon overlooking the Kennedy Expressway. The mystical image of our Lord is
a quiet call to hundreds of thousands of pilgrims who travel the Kennedy Expressway every day. God is
reaching out to a hurting and sometimes wayward humanity. The image and message of The Divine Mercy
are proof again that the Gospel story is not frozen in the pages of a book, but remain ever alive and ever
dynamic as an urgent attempt to break into the hearts of humanity. The well-being of our future depends on
the opening of our hearts to Christ Jesus.
Also, please join us March 19th at 7:00 p.m. for the 18th century, Joseph Haydn’s composition, Seven
Last Words of Christ. We welcome the St. Philip Neri Chamber Players, under the direction of Robert
Fisher, to St. Stanislaus Kostka for this beautiful and appropriate prelude to the religious observances of Holy
Week. There is no admission fee. As with the movie/documentary, The Original Image of the Divine
Mercy, the Holy Week concert will take place in the church.
Those who participate in the Liturgies of the Sacred Triduum know well that Holy Thursday, Good
Friday, and Holy Saturday solidify the “why” of our faith and in a succinct way explain the enduring reality of
the Church’s identity and mission. If you’ve never experienced these High Holy Days of the Liturgical Year,
please join us this year.
Finally, the Octave of Easter, that is, the Eighth Day of Easter, April 2nd and 3rd, is the Solemnity of
The Divine Mercy. The Archdiocese is sponsoring an all- night vigil here at St. Stanislaus Kostka. Please
join us for parts of the night vigil. On April 3rd, in addition to the regular Sunday schedule of Masses, there
will be a special celebration of The Divine Mercy Sunday beginning at 2:30 p.m. with the Rosary followed by
Mass with Fr. James Kubicki S.J., the National Director of the Apostleship of Prayer. Fr. Kubicki will speak on
“Encountering the Sacred and Merciful Heart of Jesus in the Jubilee Year of Mercy.” Priests will be available
for the Sacrament of Reconciliation through the afternoon, beginning at 2:30.
Again, as always, I thank all of you for keeping the faith in these turbulent times. Many walk away.
There is a sad account in the Gospel of John when many of those in the company of Jesus abandoned the
Lord. As they were leaving, Jesus turned to the Apostles and asked, “And do you wish to leave me as well?”
Peter answered, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to
believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.” Thank you for responding to the Lord as Peter
did. I thank God daily that you humbly, courageously, and gratefully keep the faith. It is truly a gift from God.
The greatest of all gifts.

Estimados Amigos,
Permítanme comenzar agradeciéndole a Natalie Konieczko y a su “equipo” por el gran trabajo que
hicieron por hacer posible a diferentes niveles un éxito la Cena Polaca de la semana pasada. Mientras que le doy
las gracias a Natalie y a su “equipo” deseo darles las gracias a todos ustedes quienes juntos asisten a la
parroquia, enfrentamos desafíos financieros. Su generosidad siempre es profundamente agradecida.
Es increíble que Semana Santa ya está a una semana. Los exhorto a que nos acompañen en los
servicios religiosos de Semana Santa y otros eventos religiosos que están programados en los próximos días y
semanas.
Este miércoles 16 de marzo a las 7:00 p.m., la parroquia será el anfitrión del estreno de la película/
documental, La Imagen Original de la Divina Misericordia. Les prometo que esto será un evento espiritual que
nos dará una visión de la imagen icónica de La Divina Misericordia. Una réplica de la imagen original no sólo
adorna nuestro santuario, pero también está parada como un faro sobre la Autopista Kennedy. La imagen mística
del Señor es un llamado silencioso a sienes de miles de peregrinos que viajan sobre la Autopista Kennedy. Dios
está extendiendo su mano hacia una humanidad doliente y a veces rebelde. La imagen y el mensaje de La Divina
Misericordia son de nuevo prueba que la historia del Evangelio no está congelada en las páginas de un libro, pero
permanece viva y dinámica más que nunca como un intento urgente para así llegarle a los corazones de la
humanidad. El bienestar de nuestro futuro depende de que abramos nuestros corazones a Cristo Jesús.
También, acompáñenos el 19 de marzo a las 7:00 p.m. para la composición del siglo 18 de Joseph Haydn,
Las Últimas Siete Palabras de Cristo. Le damos la bienvenida a la Cámara de Músicos de San Felipe Neri,
bajo la dirección de Robert Fisher, a San Estanislao Kostka por esta introducción hermosa y apropiada a las
celebraciones religiosas de Semana Santa. La entrada es gratis. Igual que la película/documental, La Imagen

en San Estanislao Kostka. Por favor acompáñenos un rato en esta vigilia nocturna. El 3 de abril, aparte del
programa regular de las Misas Dominicales, habrá una celebración especial de La Divina Misericordia
comenzando a las 2:30 p.m. con el Rosario seguido por la Misa con el Padre James Kubicki, S.J., Director del
Apostolado Nacional de Oración. El Padre Kubicki hablará sobre el “Encuentro del Sagrado y Misericordioso
Corazón de Jesús” en el Año Jubilar de Misericordia. Habrá Sacerdotes disponibles para el Sacramento de
Reconciliación durante la tarde, comenzando a las 2:30.

First Friday Evenings before Mass from 6 pm to 7 pm
God speaks to us every day. You can hear Him if you listen.
Contemplatives in Action is a group of men and women who are
seeking to find “God in all things”. Through the Examen Prayer of St.
Ignatius Loyola we see how the Lord is working in our lives in the
moments of each day.
We contemplate the word of God. "Contemplation" is the word St.
Ignatius used to describe the type of prayer he recommends in that
part of the Spiritual Exercises where he shows us how to grow in
intimacy with our Lord. After listening to the Gospel, we have a
conversation about how the Lord is speaking to us and inviting us to
respond through our actions.
