ANNUAL REPORT 2014
Message from the Chair of the Board of Directors
and President & CEO
The agency has had a banner year! Guided by our new strategic initiatives we wasted no time
addressing opportunities for growth and efficiencies. Hospice, Homecare and our Private
Duty Service led the way in growth. We initiated two new services this year— the Diaper
Pantry and the Baby’s Breath program.
Andrew Boucher
Chair of the Board of Directors
GVNA HealthCare grew as a valued homecare provider in Franklin County in 2014. Building
on established services, we were able to grow the Homecare business. We successfully recruited
qualified local staff, established a Franklin County Advisory Committee and are integrating
into the business community. We received excellent feedback from patient satisfaction surveys
and have achieved solid quality outcomes.
Comprehensive review of systems and a strategic marketing plan resulted in growth in the
Hospice program. We are integrating complementary care as an enhancement to the work,
allowing participants to choose to “live fully” near the end of life.
When asked “where do we want to live as we age?” the answer is always “at home”. Our
Private Duty program supports people staying in their home and living independently.
In 2014 our strategic initiatives included the implementation of a new automated intake
process for Homecare and Hospice; a redesign of the application process for Aide positions
and the implementation of a new automated payroll system. Using technology effectively
Elaine T. Fluet
President & CEO
assured a smoother care transition for patients; a timely response to applicants, customers and
providers and improved communication and quality while saving time and money. These efforts brought us one step
closer to being a “greener” agency.
Launched in May, the Diaper Pantry is a huge success! Supported by donations and staffed weekly by volunteers,
30,000 diapers were distributed to struggling families.
Concerned about the high incidence of tobacco use among pregnant women in Gardner, GVNA, Gardner Board
of Health, MOC and Heywood Healthcare sought and received funding from the Health Foundation of Central
Massachusetts to implement an intervention and provide education. Working closely with its partners, GVNA took
the leadership role in this project.
GVNA continues to grow and expand our horizons in the 39 communities we serve. Our success will continue as we
grow and adapt to the changing healthcare environment. Our 187 employees are committed to quality care and patient
satisfaction.
We extend gratitude to all our staff, volunteers and donors who make it happen!
With gratitude,
Andrew Boucher

Then we met the nurses and physical therapist. The kindness to my elderly
mother was excellent, but the support to all three of us as caregivers was priceless.
Thank you so much! I would recommend GVNA HealthCare to anyone!”
