škola meseca
OSNOVNA ŠKOLA „VELJKO DUGOŠEVIC“
U RANILUGU
direktor {kole Aleksandar Aritonovi}
„Rad i disciplina je moto na{e {kole. Cilj mi je da
stvorim {to bolje uslove za u~enike, a mnogo toga je ve}
realizovano: grejanje, stolarija, novi kabinet i toaleti. Do
sada smo imali samo pohvale. Atmosfera i me|uljudski
odnosi u {koli su dobri. Nemamo neslaganje, netrpeljivost
i netoleraniciju. U~enici sara|uju, nemamo problema
ni u {koli ni van nje“. Ovako nam je direktor Osnovne
{kole „Veljko Dugo{evi}“ u Ranilugu, Aleksandar
Aritonovi}, opisao {kolu i harmoniju koja vlada u njoj.
nastala davne 1834. godine.
Danas ima 50 prosvetnih radnika
i 267 u~enika u 22 odeljenja.
Veliki zna~aj, pored obrazovanja,
daje i vannastavnim aktivnostima:
sekcijama, sportu i folkloru. Tako da
se zainteresovani mladi imaju ~ime
baviti i van {kole, obzirom da `ive
u ruralnoj sredini i nemaju mnogo
razonoda kao mladi u urbanoj.
„Imamo ko{arka{ki i fudbalski klub,
folkor, literarnu, likovnu i dramsku
sekciju, kao i hor. Ono {to nam
nedostaje je sportska sala, tako
da fizi~ko vaspitanje izvodimo u
u~ionici ili hodniku, {to je jako
nekvalitetno,“ kazao je gospodin
Aritonovi}. Ipak, mogu se pohvaliti
dobrim uspehom u~enika.
Va`no je pomenuti da u {koli do
sada nije zabele`en nijedan vid
4 for you
„Nismo do sada imali neko lo{e iskustvo
sa u~enicima ili nastavnicima. Svi
uspe{nija. Tako da je saradnja svih nas
veoma bitna“.
Ono {to danas postoje}em direktoru
predstavlja problem je nezaposlenost
mladih u toj sredini. „Privreda u ovoj
mesta. Tako da je vrlo te{ko ispuniti
zahteve svih i sve ih zaposliti. Tada je
najte`e biti direktor“.
Gospodin Aritronovi} je istakao da je
obrazovanje svakako najbitnije, jer kako
ka`e: „gde-god je jako obrazovanje tu
su i dr`ave jake, jer imaju kvalitetne
ljude“. Zato je va`no da mladi {to vi{e pa`nje posvete
obrazovanju. „Ali, va`no je i da slobodno vreme provodite
sa svojom porodicom, da sti~ete mnogo prijatelja u {koli,
da ne stvarate posebne klanove kao {to je slu~aj u nekim
{kolama,“ dodao je on.
A svi vi koji `elite jednoga dana biti uspe{ni, sledite
primere onih koji to ve} jesu, kao {to je u ovom slu~aju
direktor O[ „Veljko Dugo{evi}” u Ranilugu, Aleksandar
Aritronovi}.
school of the month
PRIMARY SCHOOL “VELJKO DUGOSEVIC”
IN RANILUG
“`Work and discipline` is the motto of our school. My
goal is to create better conditions for students, and
much of it is already implemented: heating, windows,
new cabinets and restrooms. So far, we have received
nothing but praise. The atmosphere and relationships
in the school are good. We have no disagreement,
hostility, and intolerance. Students collaborate and
we have no problems at the school or outside of it.”
This is how the director of the Primary School “Veljko
Dugosevic” in Ranilug, Aleksandar Aritonović, described
the school and the harmony that prevails in it. The very
motivation to make the school the best possible is also
the fact that he is the father of the two children who
attend the same.
This educational institution was founded back in
1834. Today, there are 50 teachers, 267 students in
22 classes. Great importance, in
addition to education, is also given
to extra-curricular activities: clubs,
sports and folklore, so the interested
young people have something to
do outside of school as well, since
in rural areas they do not have as
much entertainment as the youth
living in urban areas have. “We
have a basketball and a football
club, folklore, literature, art and
drama club and choir. What we lack
is a gymnasium (sports hall), so
that physical education is done in
the classroom or hallway, which is
then of a very poor quality,” said Mr
Aritonović. However, they can brag
with a good success of the students.
It is important to note that the
school has no record of any form
of violence and discrimination, and
that the cooperation of teachers with
students and their parents is at a high
level. The director said that the key to
the success is regular communication
with parents. “We haven’t had any
bad experiences with the students or
teachers so far. Everyone can explain
their problems at parent meetings;
they can even criticize the director
so that the school can become more
successful. So, the cooperation of all
of us is very important. “
What for the current director is
a problem is youth unemployment
in that area. “The economy in this
area is not working, and former
students of this school have
grown, graduated in faculties, and
unfortunately only in education
and health care there are jobs.
So it is very difficult to meet the
requirements of everyone and employ all of them. At
these moments it is hardest to be a director.”
Mr. Aritronović stressed that education is certainly
the most important, because as he says, “wherever the
education is strong - the states are strong there as well,
because they have high-quality people.” Therefore it
is important that young people commit themselves to
education as much as possible. “But it is also important
to spend free time with your family, to gain a lot of
friends in school, not to create a separate clans as is
the case in some schools,” he added.
And all of you, who want to be successful one
day, follow the examples of those who already are
successful, as in this case the Director of Primary
School “Veljko Dugosevic” in Ranilug, Aleksandar
Aritronović.

EYE
slu`benik za projekte u “EYE” Dren Selimi
S
vako ko je tra`io slobodno
radno mesto vrlo dobro zna
koliko je va`no imati mre`u
poznanika, prijatelja, kolega ili
bivših poslodavaca u pronala`enju
novog radnog mesta. Zamislite kada
postane stvarnost zahvaljuju}i
projektu „Ja~anje zapošljavanja
mladih – EYE (Enhancing Youth
Employment)“ koji ve} skoro godinu
dana na Kosovu sprovodi Helvetas
Swiss Inter-cooperation i MDA, a
finansira [vajcarska vlada, odnosno
EYE
je ~etvorogodišnji projekat koji ima
novi pristup i koja se na engleskom
6 for you
zove „M4P – Markets work the Poor
(M4P – Tr`ište radi za siromašne).
Ideja je da takvi dugoro~ni projekti
promovišu napredak u zemljama
poput Kosova i njihovi efekti su
još dugoro~niji,“ rekao je gospodin
Selimi.
Ovaj projekat ima tri unutrašnja
stuba koji funkcionišu potpuno
nezavisno jedan od drugog. Prvi
stub je razvoj sposobnosti onih koji
tra`e posao. Drugi je posredovanje
izme|u privatnog sektora i onih koji
tra`e posao, odnosno rešavanje
pitanja jedni drugima u cilju ranijeg
pronala`enja posla. Tre}i stub je
razvoj preduze}a i novih poslova
(start-up). To su tri stuba preko kojih
se projekat bavi identifikovanim
problemima, kako bi se promovisao
razvoj tr`išta rada i privatnog sektora.
“U okviru prvog stuba aktivnosti,
davno smo imali posetu prorektora
Univerziteta u Pitsburgu u SAD, koji
nam je predavao i objasnio kako se
tela poznata kao Industrijski odbori
u SAD i u Evropi rade. Ovi odbori su
vrsta foruma preko kojih preduze}a i
programe fakulteta. Na ovaj na~in,
oni se bave zahtevima privatnog
sektora odnosno kakvi radnici i
veštine su potrebne na tr`ištu rada.
Na primer, trenutno na
Kosovu ekonomiju studira
7000 - 8000 studenata.
Ovaj broj nije realan u
odnosu na tr`ište rada,
jer na Kosovu ne postoji
potreba za tako velikim
brojem ekonomista. Dok,
s druge strane, Kosovu
trebaju specijalizovane
veštine, koje se za privatni
sektor te`e identifikuju, jer
univerziteti ne nude ovu
vrstu obrazovanja,” rekao je
gospodin Selimi.
Drugi stub projekta radi
u oblasti posredovanja
izme|u onih koji tra`e
posao, agencije za
zapošljavanje i portala
za zapošljavanje, kao što
su: kosovajob, telegrafi,
itd. Ovo posredovanje
ima za cilj da usluge
koje se koriste od strane
gra|ana ne budu samo
reklame za posao ve}
pomognu onima koji tra`e
posao pri razvoju CV-a,
u pripremi za intervjue i
razvoju drugih veština, koje poma`u
razvoju komunikacije izme|u lica
koja tra`e posao i poslodavca. „Još
jedan element koji nameravamo da
poboljšamo je prose~no vreme koje je
potrebno novom licu, koje tra`i posao,
da prilagodi proces obrazovanja
na radnom mestu. Trenutno je na
Kosovu taj prosek 10 godina i veoma
je visok. Mi `elimo da se smanji
putem ove usluge i da razvijemo
dijalog izme|u privatnog sektora i
tra`ioca zaposlenja, tako da oni mogu
brzo do}i do posla,“ izme|u ostalog je
dodao gospodin Selimi.
Kod tre}eg stuba direktno radimo
sa kompanijama, odnosno sa novim
preduze}ima. Na Kosovu ima oko
4000 novih preduze}a (start-up) koja
EU i SAD.
ovih novih preduze}a.
Na kraju je gospodin Selimi
pozvao sve mlade ljude da kada je
u pitanju zapošljavanje budu strpljivi
i da kontinuirano rade na sticanju
novih znanja o poslu, uklju~uju}i i
samozapošljavanje, što bi trebalo da
se radi neprestano.
EYE
A
nyone who has been seeking
for a job vacancy knows very
well the importance of having
a network of acquaintances, friends,
colleagues or former employers in
finding a new working place. Imagine
if we all had such a network that
would be spread across Kosovo and,
in addition, also guide us from the
age of 16 onwards on the Kosovo
labour market requirements. Perhaps
this idea may sound more like a key
disc of a computer where all the
elements interact with each other
so that the user has the correct
information whenever it is needed.
The truth is that this idea may be
very close to becoming a reality,
respectively thanks to the project
“Enhancing Youth Employment –
EYE” that almost for a year now is
being implemented in Kosovo by the
Helvetas Swiss Inter-cooperation
and MDA, and financed by the Swiss
Government, respectively by the
Swiss Development Fund.
Dren Selimi, EYE Project Officer,
stated that the project targets young
people of the age of 16-30, in fact
young people who have actually
graduated from school and are ready
to enter the labour market. “The
project is spread throughout Kosovo
and is being implemented since
January 2013. EYE is a four-year
project, which has a new approach
and which in English is called “M4P
– Markets work for the Poor”. The
idea is that such long-term projects
promote progress in countries like
Kosovo and their effects are even
more long-term”, Mr. Selimi said.
The project has three
interior pillars that function quite
independently of each other. The
first pillar is the development of
job seekers’ skills. The second is
the mediation between the private
sector and job seekers, namely
addressing issues of one another to
finding job soon. The third pillar is
the development of enterprises and
new businesses (Start-up). These are
the three pillars on which the project
addresses the problems identified to
promote the development of labour
market and private sector.
“Within the first pillar activity, not
so long ago we had a visit by the ViceRector of the University of Pittsburgh in
U.S.A, who lectured us and explained
how the activities known as Industrial
Board in the U.S. and in Europe
operate. These boards are the type of
forum through which businesses and
enterprises that are active in the labour
market can directly affect the curricula
of faculties. In this way, they address
the requirements of the private sector
about what kind of workers and skills
are required in the labour market. For
example, there are 7000 – 8000 students
who are currently
studying economics in
Kosovo. This number
is not realistic in terms
of the labour market
since Kosovo does
not need so many
economists. Yet, on the
other hand, Kosovo
needs specialised skills,
which for private sector
are more difficult to
be identified because
universities are not
offering this kind of
education,” said Mr.
Selimi.
The second pillar
of the project works in
the field of mediation
between job seekers,
employment offices
and job portals like:
kosovajob, telegrafi,
etc. This mediation
aims that services
that are used by
citizens are not only
job advertisement but
also assist job seekers in developing
CVs, preparing for interviews
and other skills that help develop
communication between job seekers
and employers. “Another element that
we intend to improve is the average
time that is needed for a new job
seeker in order to adapt the education
process with a working place.
Currently in Kosovo this average is
10 year and is very high. We want to
reduce it through these services and
to develop the dialogue between the
private sector and job seekers so that
they could quickly come to a job,” Mr.
Selimi added among others.
The third pillar is where we work
directly with companies, respectively
with new businesses. In Kosovo there
are about 4000 news businesses
(Start-up) that have benefited from
various services of various projects
funded by the EU and the U.S. Today
these companies require even more
advanced services and one of the
EYE goals is to identify advanced
services for the development of these
new businesses.
In the end, Mr. Selimi urged all
young people that when it comes to
employment to be patient and to work
continuously to gain new knowledge
of the job, including here selfemployment, which should be done
constantly.

L
ena Kova~evi} je d`ez muzi~ar,
kompozitor i tekstopisac, ina~e
je }erka proslavljenog dramskog
pisca Du{ana Kova~evi}a. Publiku je pre
svega osvojila talentom, ali i ljupko{}u
i lepotom.
Album
je sofisticirani kola` pop i d`ez muzike,
sa~injen od nekoliko obrada poznatih
numera umetnika poput Bajage, Dina
Merlina, Vlade Georgieva, \or|a Marjanovi}a i drugih, kao i nekoliko autorskih
„Ti{ina“, koju ona mnogo voli.
Ro|ena je u Beogradu, 1982. godine.
Nakon završene srednje muzi~ke škole,
odlazi u Amsterdam gde diplomira
d`ez pevanje na presti`nom Muzi~kom
konzervatorijumu u Amsterdamu. Studirala je u klasi eminentnih evropskih profesora. Snimala je, nastupala i u~estvovala

gde je nastupala i pred
holandskom kraljicom.

godine, izdaje svoj prvi
autorski album „Dobar
dan za pevanje“ (PGP

doma}e i strano tr`ište.
Album je inspirisan d`ez
i pop muzikom, kao i
neprevazi|enim, dragim,
zvukom Balkana. On
profesionalnom `ivotu.
Lena i njen bend

danima, u Sava Centru, Domu Sindikata, Kolar~evoj
Zadu`bini. Tako|e,
2011. Lena je
bila ~lan `irija u
izuzetno gledanoj emisiji
„Prvi Glas
Srbije“.
izuzetno voli pop i klasi~nu muziku, a
zaljubljena je u zvuk Big Benda, Franka
Sinatru, Ellu Fitzgerald, nezaobilazne
„Beatles-e“ i „Stones-e“. Prošla je, ka`e,
i fazu „luda za osamdesetim“, a i danas
omiljeni bend su joj „Smiths-i“. Pored klavira, najdra`i instrument joj je harmonika,
~ijim je zvukom obojen ceo njen album.
Voli i zvuk naše tradicionalne muzike.
muzika u pitanju, zato napred!

LENA
KOVACEVIC
L
ena Kovacevic is a jazz musician,
composer and songwriter. She
is the daughter of the celebrated
dramaturge Dusan Kovacevic. She won
the respect of audiences with her talent, but also with her grace and beauty.
This year she has released her second
studio album entitled “Dream” (the
lyrics of the song were written
by her father), which in October it
turned out to be the best-selling domestic album, behind Džiboni. The
album is a sophisticated collage
of pop and jazz music, made up
of several covers of famous
songs of artists like Bajaga,
Dino Merlin, Vlado Georgiev, Djordje Marjanovic
and others, as well
as several original
songs by great
artists from this re-
gion. The key to the album was
Bajaga’s song “Silence”, which
she loves very much.
She was born in Belgrade
in 1982. After completing
musical high school, she went
to Amsterdam, where she
graduated in jazz singing at the
prestigious Music Conservatory
in Amsterdam. She studied in the
class of eminent European professors. She has recorded, performed
and participated in many projects
of musicians from around the
world, while at the same time she
was working with her counterparts
from Serbia and within that region.
She was first highlighted in the
movie “The Professional” in 2003,
where she sang with Bajaga. She
then went to the Netherlands and
for a number of years she work
with one of the best jazz orchestras, the Royal Dutch Orchestra,
where she performed for the
Queen. She has also performed
as a soloist in a project with U.S.
bassist John Clayton (Dianne Krall,
Nina Simone), with Nigel Kennedy
Quintet and Al Di Meola Band.
In Belgrade in 2009 she
launched her first authorial album,
“A good day for singing” (PGP
RTS), destined for the domestic
and foreign markets. The album
was inspired by
jazz and pop
music, as well
as unsurpassed,
cherished,
sound of the
Balkans. It is a
real collage of
several styles,
which opened
many doors for
Lena, both in her
professional and her
private life.
Lena and her
band had the opportunity to perform
in Serbia, it was here
she started to present material from the
album “A good day
for singing”. In June
2011, they played in
the north of Cyprus
at the festival in
which, among others
preformed with artists like Cesaria Evora, Boney M, Goran
Bregovic, Rendy
Crawford and many
others. In Serbia,
music box
they had distinguished performances
in Bitef Theatre, at Days of Mokranjac,
in the Sava Centre, in Dom Sindikata,
in Kolarac. Also, in 2011 Lena was a
member of the jury in a very popular
show “The First Voice of Serbia”.
Lena admits that searching and
experimenting with music was a great
challenge for her, but also a doubleedged sword. In addition to jazz, pop
and extremely loved classical music,
she fell in love with the sound of the Big
Band, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald,
the unavoidable Beatles and Stones.
She has been through it all, she says,
even the “crazy Eighties”, and her
favourite band is still The Smiths. In addition to the piano, her favourite instrument is the harmonica, whose sound
painted her entire album. She also likes
the sound of our traditional music.
This beautiful and talented singer
believes that every moment is good for
singing, because singing is a powerful
tool to get you in a good mood. So, to
all those who think they are too late to
start singing, think again or you’ll have
“missed the train. It’s never too late
to case your dream, and only when it
comes to music, so go for it!

VOLONTIRANJE, KULTURA, PRISTUP
„Mi sami ose}amo da je ono što radimo
samo kap u okeanu. Ali okean bi bio manji
za tu jednu kap. Nije va`no koliko radimo,
ve} s koliko ljubavi to radimo“. Majka Tereza
„Volontiranje u materijalnom smislu ne
donosi ništa, s druge strane sam puno profitirala
celog sveta. Moj `ivot je zbog volonterskog rada
bogat prijateljima i veoma pozitivnim iskustvima.
Zahvaljuju}i volonterskom radu sam dobila
Videla sam
da je moja pomo} zaista zna~ajna nekome i ose}
poslednjih deset godina bavi volonterskim
radom, kako bi pomogla ljudima sa posebnim
potrebama.
Kosovu. Projekat u koji je bila uklju~ena
je opismenjavanje ljudi sa posebnim
potrebama. Ljumturie isti~e ovaj projekat
kao jedan od najzna~ajnijih projekata u
kojima je imala ~ast i zadovoljstvo da
u~estvuje do sada.
i time razbijao predrasude i barijere.
„Ja `ivim u Ka~aniku koji je mali grad
sa velikim predrasudama. Ovaj projekat
je pokazao da su osobe sa posebnim potrebama
deo našeg društva. Verujem da projekat koji uspeva da
podigne nivo svesti kod javnosti za odre|eni problem,
odnosno uspeva da razbije predrasude i barijere,
predstavlja najve}i uspeh koji se mo`e posti}i“.
Danas, deset godina kasnije, Ljumturiin entuzijazam
potrebama preko svoje Nevladine organizacije
„Volontiranje, kultura i pristup“, osnovane po~etkom
2013. godine.
stvaranju društva u kom postoji rodna ravnopravnost i
gde ljudi sa posebnim potrebama imaju jednak pristup u
svim sferama `ivota.

VOLUNTEERING, CULTURE, APPROACH
“We
ourselves feel that
what we are doing
is just a drop in the
ocean. But the ocean
would be less because
of that missing drop.
It is not how much we
do, but how much love
we put in that action”. –
Mother Teresa
“Volunteering in material
terms does not bring
anything, yet on the other
hand I have profited a lot of
this work – starting from the
fact that I
have managed to see different parts of the world, but more
importantly to meet and mingle with young people from all
over the world. My life is rich with friends and very positive
experiences because of the volunteer work. Thanks to the
volunteer work I won a scholarship for my studies, but I would
say that the biggest advantage is that since the first activity
took place, I realised that our work could help many people
with special needs. I saw that my help was really meaningful
for someone and I felt better inside,” starts the conversation
Ms. Lumturie Koka and tells us the reason why for the past
ten years she is engaged in volunteer work to help people
with special needs.
What makes the story even more interesting is the
fact that Lumturie is only 25-year-old, which means
that she has started working as a volunteer at the age
of 15. When we asked her how she started her work
as volunteer, she told us her first experience was with
Centre for Promotion of Education in Kosovo. The
project she was involved in was teaching literacy
people with special needs. Lumturie highlights this
project as one of the most significant projects she
has had the pleasure and honour to be involved
in so far. The reason for this, according to her, is
that in addition to literacy, this project was quite
popular, respectively breaking down prejudices and
barriers. “I live in Kaçanik, which is a small town
with big prejudice. This project demonstrated
that people with special needs are part of
our society. I believe a project that manages
to bring awareness to general public for a
certain problem, namely that manages to
break down prejudices and barriers is the
biggest success that can be achieved.
Today, ten years later, Lumturie’s
enthusiasm on volunteering hasn’t drop a bit
and her goal is to translate her experience
into practice for people with special needs,
respectively through her non-governmental
organisation “:Volunteering,
Culture and Approach”,
which was established in
the beginning of 2013. As
the title indicates itself, the
purpose of this organisation
is to promote voluntary
work, to work in creating
a society where there is
gender equality and where
people with special needs
have equal approach in
all spheres of their lives.
In this regard, since its
establishment, this NGO
has developed several
projects and one of
them was a project
funded by the Forum
Syd on teaching literacy people with
special needs over the age of 18 in Hani i Elezit. “No
Democracy with one Gender” was another important project
that was supported by the Democracy in Action. The purpose
of the project was awareness of women on importance to
vote and their right to vote independently of other family
members’ opinions. Another activity under this project was
simulating the vote of the youth who have gained the right to
vote for the first time. In this aspect, these young people had
the opportunity to see in practice how their first time voting
process goes.
In conclusion, Lumturie urged all young people to do
volunteer work. According to her, perhaps you will not be
rewarded at the spot, but sooner or later the reward shall find
you. More importantly the best way to be happy is by making
other people happy.

ristiano Ronaldo
dos Santos Aveiro,
commonly known as
Cristiano Ronaldo, was born
on 5 February 1985 in Santo
António, a neighbourhood of
Funchal, Madeira, the youngest child of Maria Dolores dos
Santos Aveiro, a cook, and
José Dinis Aveiro, a municipal gardener. He began his
career as a youth player for
Andorinha, where he played
for two years, before moving
to C.D. Nacional. In 1997, he
made a move to Portuguese
giants Sporting Clube de Portugal. Soon, Ronaldo caught
the attention of Manchester
United manager Alex Ferguson, who signed him for
£12.24 million (€15 million) in
2003. In 2007, Ronaldo was
the first player playing in England to win all four main PFA
(Professional Footballers’ Association) and FWA (Football
Writers Association) awards.
In 2008, Ronaldo won the
Ballon d’Or. He was awarded
the European Golden Shoe in
both 2008 and 2011. In 2008,
he won three of the four main
PFA and FWA of the trophies
and was named the FIFPro
Player of the Year, World Soccer Player of the Year, Onze
d’Or, and the FIFA World
Player of the Year. Ronaldo
was the inaugural winner of
the FIFA Puskás Award for
the Goal of the Year in 2009.
It was during his days at
Manchester United that his
trademark CR7 was coined.
On 26 June 2009, Real
Madrid confirmed that Ron-
aldo would be their latest
Galactico signing. He joined
the club on 1 July 2009 from
Manchester United for £80
million (€94 million) becoming
the most expensive footballer
in history. On 15 September
2013, after much speculation, Ronaldo signed a new
contract with Real Madrid that
will keep him at the club until
2018, with a salary of €17
million (after taxes), which
makes him one of the highest
paid players in football.
Style of play
Widely regarded as one
of the two best players in the
world and as one of the best
players to ever play the game,
Cristiano Ronaldo plays an
attacking role. He is known
for his pace, skill, control and
dribbling ability, as well as his
flair in beating players during
one on one situations. He is
able to finish well both inside
the area and from distance.
He is also an accurate set
piece and penalty kick specialist. Uniquely, his height,
strength, jumping ability and
heading technique have given
him an edge in winning aerial
challenges for balls, with the
majority of his goals often being headers.
Some of Ronaldo’s most notable
achievements
• The only player to
have won the European
Golden Shoe in two different
leagues (English Premier
League and Spanish La
Liga)
• First top European
league player to reach 40
goals in a single season in
two consecutive years
• The highest number of
goals scored to win the Premier League Golden Boot

porodici.
Zato je generalni sekretar Ujedinjenih nacija 2008.
godine pokrenuo kampanju „Reci NE – UNiTE“ za
zaustavljanje nasilja nad `enama. Svake godine, širom
sveta, tokom 16 dana aktivizma (25. novembar - 10.
u borbi protiv nasilja zasnovanog na razlici me|u
mogu pridru`iti borbi protiv istog.
Šta vi mo`ete da uradite?
Borba protiv nasilja nad `enama je svakodnevna
borba.
nasilja nad `enama.
potrebna.
A
velike pomo}i svojoj majci tokom pripreme nedeljnog
porodi~nog ru~ka. Me|utim, Be}iri je pre tri godine
Njegovi koncepti o `ivotu, nasilju, polovima i jednakosti,
Sada, on
poma`e u postavljanju stola svake nedelje. Stereotipe je teško
promeniti.
i de~acima. Porodi~no i seksualno nasilje su naj~eš}e vrste

Razbijanje stereotipa
Va`an korak u zaustavljanju nasilja zasnovanog na
razlici me|u polovima je razbijanje rodnih stereotipa. Klub
„Budi muško“ pokušava da uradi upravo to, okuplja mlade
muškarce kako bi razgovarali o nasilju generalno i o tome
kako biti muškarac, rasturanjem rodnih stereotipa.
Klub daje mladim ljudima priliku da razgovaraju i
raspravljaju rodne uloge koje im društvo dodeljuje. Kao rezultat,
de~aci su promenili svoje stavove prema `enama, poma`u
svojim majkama i poštuju devojke.
Va`no je progovoriti
protiv nasilja zasnovanog na razlici me|u polovima. Odbiti
rodne stereotipe. Svi mi, a naro~ito mladi}i i devojke, treba da
u~estvujemo u akcijama za suzbijanje nasilja nad `enama. Da
zauzmemo stav, progovorimo, i postanemo uzori za budu}nost.

SPEAK UP TO END VIOLENCE
AGAINST WOMEN
A
rianit Beqiri, a 17-year-old from Pristina, used to not be of
much help for his mother during the preparation of the Sunday
family lunch. But, three years ago Beqiri started discussing
different topics with other young boys, including many social issues
that had been foreign to him. His concepts about life, violence,
gender and equality, around which he used to build his life during
his young adolescence cracked down like a tower of cards. Now, he
helps with setting up the table every Sunday. Stereotypes are hard
to change. Gender stereotypes, often source of violence against
women, are even harder to tackle.
Violence against women
Gender based violence is any act that results in, or is likely
to result in, physical, sexual, psychological or economic harm or
suffering and that is committed because of the person’s gender. It
usually refers to violence committed against women and girls, but it
can happen to men and boys too. Domestic and sexual violence are
the most common types of gender based violence, and most of the
time they are committed in the intimacy of the private life. Thus, it is
often considered a private business and is usually under-reported,
around the world and in Kosovo. Worldwide, an estimated 3 to 7 out
of 10 women experience sexual or domestic violence in their lifetime,
and in a survey in Kosovo over 40 per cent of the respondents said
they had experienced some form of domestic violence.
This is why the Secretary-General of the United Nations launched
the Say No – UNiTE campaign to end Violence against Women in
2008. Every year, all around the world, during the 16 Days of Activism
(November 25 – December 10), people are taking gender based
violence out of the private sphere and placing it on the public bench
to raise awareness and trigger actions to put an end to violence
against women. In Kosovo, UN Women’s online campaign (16days-
noviolence-ks.com) aims to raise
public awareness to fight gender based
violence through offering information
on how to respond to gender based
violence, how to prevent it through
empowering women, and how others
can join the fight against it.
What can you do?
Fighting violence against women is an everyday battle. The first
step is to refuse and condemn any kind of violence against women.
Treating women and men with equal respect is also essential, both
in the public and private spheres. If violence occurs around you, or to
you, report it, contact the police, a shelter organization or someone
close to you. It is important to speak up, to shed the veil of silence
and to get the help and support you or your friend need.
Breaking stereotypes
An important step in ending gender based violence is breaking
gender stereotypes. The Be a Man Club tries to do exactly this, it
gathers young men to talk about violence in general and about how
to be a man, dismantling gender stereotypes.
The Club gives young men the opportunity to discuss and
debate the gender roles society assigns them. As a result, the boys
changed their attitudes towards women, helping out their mothers and
respecting girls. One of the Club’s members, Korab Jaha, a 17-yearold from Pristina, emphasizes that “as a society we need to explain to
people that they don’t have the right to discriminate [based on gender].”
In your everyday life, it is important to learn how to respect
everyone, women and men. It is important to speak up against
gender based violence. Refuse the gender stereotypes. All of us, and
especially young men and young women, need to participate in the
actions to end violence against women. Take a stand, speak up, and
become role models for the future.
