Con mucha esperanza y confianza proclamo hoy nuestras tres prioridades, con sus seis objetivos específicos,
motivadores, realizables, realistas y contables.

prioridad 1:
la nueva evangelización
Proclamando la Buena Nueva con alegría, entusiasmo y un espíritu renovado!
Objetivo 1: Formar 4-8 líderes parroquiales en 30-45 parroquias y misiones de la Arquidiócesis por medio de
un entrenamiento específico en la Nueva Evangelización antes del 31 de agosto del 2015
Objetivo 2: Aumentar el número de los que participan en la Misa Dominical en la Arquidiócesis de 152,000
personas a 160,000-165,000 personas antes del 31 de octubre del 2015

catequesis y formación
¡Creciendo en la fe y el conocimiento de Jesucristo!
Objetivo 1: Certificar en el nivel inicial 650-950 catequistas de todas las regiones de la Arquidiócesis antes del
31 de agosto del 2015
Objetivo 2: Inscribir 300-500 familias en un programa determinado de Formación en la Fe antes del
14 de octubre del 2015

¡Nuevos Discípulos de Cristo!
Objetivo 1: Que ingresen al seminario 20-24 candidatos para la Arquidiócesis de San Antonio antes del
31 de agosto del 2015
Objetivo 2: Convocar y formar un equipo de 8-12 personas para evaluar y desarrollar modelos efectivos de
pastoral juvenil para el servicio de la Arquidiócesis de San Antonio antes del 1 de abril del 2014
La Arquidiócesis de San Antonio reconoce la importancia de nuestros jóvenes en la vida de la iglesia y por lo tanto
integraremos intencionalmente su participación en todas las prioridades y objetivos.

To all of Christ’s faithful people, the priests, deacons,
consecrated women and men religious, and lay faithful of the Archdiocese of San Antonio:
From the first Pentecost, when the disciples called by Christ gathered together in prayer, until our
gathering for this vigil today, the promised Holy Spirit comes to fill his expectant Church. Today, in the
face of new challenges and opportunities, we ask ourselves the same question put to Peter in Jerusalem
on the first Pentecost, “What must we do?” (Acts 2:37). We find the answer in Jesus Christ, who is
“the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). Led by the Holy Spirit, I invite you to join
me in proclaiming our sacred purpose:
seeking to live in sacramental communion with one another,
the archdiocese of san antonio exists to make disciples and
missionaries of jesus christ to prepare for the promise
of eternal life.
Grounded in this purpose, I have listened and discerned since my installation as your Archbishop on
November 23, 2010. As I have discovered with you our Future in Faith, we have lived together Gospel
values that have shaped this discernment and listening. Today I proclaim these three values core to our
life together in sacramental communion:
prayerfulness:
We conform our lives to Christ through faithful meditation on God’s will and loving presence as we
fulfill the responsibilities of discipleship.
stewardship:
Always grateful for the resources entrusted to us, we use them wisely, being transparent and responsible
to God and one another.
unity:
Grounded in the Eucharist, we embrace diversity among persons, cultures and apostolates, and foster the
bonds of charity that reflect the Trinitarian relationship of God, creating a culture of communion.
With you I dare to envision our Church as we can together become, and I invite you to share the five
year vision of our Archdiocese:

Two and a half years ago you asked me what priorities I had for the Archdiocese, but in these years I
have also asked you the same question. What key priorities will lead us to more fully embody our vision?
It is with great hope and expectation that I proclaim today our three priorities, with their six specific,
motivating, achievable, relevant and time-bound goals.

Proclaiming the Good News with joy, zeal and renewed spirit!
Goal 1: Develop 4-8 parish leaders in 30-45 parishes and missions in a New Evangelization training series by

Goal 2: Increase Sunday Mass participation across the Archdiocese on average from 152,000 to 160,000

Growing in our faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ!
Goal 1:Recruit and Certify 650-950 catechists from all Deaneries at least at the Introductory Level

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Jesucristo; sacerdotes, diáconos,
mujeres y hombres consagrados, fieles laicos de la Arquidiócesis de San Antonio:
Desde el primer Pentecostés, cuando los discípulos de Jesucristo se reunieron en oración, hasta el día de
hoy, incluyendo nuestra gran Vigilia, el Espíritu Santo prometido llena a su Iglesia con su presencia. Hoy,
enfrentando nuevas oportunidades y nuevos retos, nos preguntamos lo que el pueblo preguntó a San
Pedro en Jerusalén en el primer Pentecostés, “¿Que tenemos que hacer?” (Hechos 2:37). Encontramos
la respuesta en Jesucristo, quien es “el mismo ayer, hoy, y por siempre” (Hebreos 13:8). Guiados por el
Espíritu Santo, les invito a proclamar conmigo nuestro propósito sagrado:
tratando de vivir en comunión sacramental unos con otros,
la arquidiócesis de san antonio existe para hacer discípulos y
misioneros de jesucristo preparándonos para la promesa
de la vida eterna.

ministry in service to the Archdiocese and vibrant parish life by April 1, 2014
Desde el 23 de noviembre del 2010, día de mi toma de posesión como su Arzobispo, en unión con
ustedes he descubierto un Futuro en la Fe, y hemos constatado juntos valores evangélicos que nos
han guiado en el proceso. En oración y en escucha, hoy proclamo tres valores centrales para vivir en
comunión sacramental.
The Archdiocese of San Antonio recognizes the importance of young adults in our church and will intentionally
integrate into our priorities the engagement, empowerment and participation of young adults. As we develop
activities and actions to support each of the six goals, young adults conscious of their vocation in the Church and in
the world, will be a cornerstone of our outcome framework.
Conformamos nuestras vidas a Cristo, con fiel meditación en la voluntad de Dios y en su presencia
amorosa mientras cumplimos con los deberes del discipulado.
Let us proclaim our Future in Faith! Let us encounter Christ! Let us be united as Church! Let us be sent forth
by the Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe and accompanied by the prayers of
our holy patron, St. Anthony of Padua, I recall with gratitude the collaboration of Bishop Oscar Cantú and the
envisioning team, the support of Father Larry Christian, my new Vicar General.
